Definitely check in with your doctor's office and let them know you are having problems. I had problems with that too and didn't get much help other than permission to take Immodium if I needed to.
I'm not sure if you are allowed to drink skim or 1% milk on your plan and if you are, that you might be lactose intolerant after surgery. My doctor told me that many people have a problem with this and I thought I was one of them until I did some more checking on my own.
I am able to drink milk without too many problems but if I mix Protein powder for a shake with it, I was having problems. I talked with my SIL who is a nutritionist/pharmacist and she told me to go check the amount of sugar alcohol or other artificial sweeteners in the Protein Powder I was using. Sure enough, all of them contained sucralose (Splenda) or other sugar alcohols that were causing the shakes to basically run through my system shortly after I ingested them.
Once I found some unflavored Protein Powder without any sugar alcohols or sucralose in it, everything was much better and I wasn't having as many issues with that problem anymore.

I find that it is the smell of the Protein that puts me off more than the taste. Lifting the glass to my mouth and getting a whiff of the protein each time got to be too muc for me. Now i drink my shake out of a travel coffee mug with lid so I can't smell it. If I blend it, I eat it with a spoon. This helps me keep the amount of each bite/sip small and helps me with the smell issue.

Many people go through the motions of having food funerals and this kind of sounds like one. I know I had a few myself so I can't say you are being bad. One thing that I can say is please understand this isn't the last time that you will be enjoy one of these. Yes, you'll never be able to eat as much in one sitting but you will probably be able to eat a little of everything you love next year at the next reunion. The surgery is not the end of everything -- it's just changing you to be more healthy and make better choices in your everyday life.

Since surgery I've lost a noticeable amount of weight and if someone asks, I will tell them that I had bariatric surgery. Most people don't know what gastric sleeve surgery is and I don't go into depth with them on it unless it's someone who is asking more questions about it. Those people are also the ones who would generally benefit from the surgery too so I try to be as open and honest with them because it might end up saving their life someday.
I don't know if I ever would have been able to have this surgery if it hadn't of been for 3-5 people close to me that had already had the same or similar procedure done. Their openness and honesty made it easier for me to make the decision and know that I was doing the right thing. I hope to pay it forward to others as a way of giving back.
As for the haters, I haven't said anything about the surgery. I just sit back with my tiny meal, get full off of a few bites and let them try to figure out what's going on. Most of those types made fun of me before surgery so I don't care to mention it to them and they don't have the guts to ask me about it so I just let them wonder . . . and watch me get smaller each day.

I wasn't too worried about my surgery but being on here helped quell some of the anxiety I had from the wait and just wanting to get the VSG done. I learned a lot and felt more prepared going in.

I think there is too much focus on weight. You should aim for a certain size, because those who do a balanced exercise regimen of cardio and weight training will build muscle. And, as mentioned by several other posters, muscle is denser than fat and you will weigh more. BUT, your frame WILL be thinner despite the added weight. When I was thin and fit, I weighed 140 and fit into a size 2/4. I'm a little over 5'6" (not too tall). Most girls that were my height and whom wore the same size weighed a lot less, but they were not packing any muscle.

It is extremely unlikely and probably impossible that you have gained any way near 6 lb of muscle in so short a time. Probably a small portion of the weight is muscle and the rest Water.< /p>

Muscle weighs more than fat! Measure your inches and the way your clothes fit.

Staying around keeps you accountable. No lie...almost every large regain post I've seen (and really, I've only seen a handful in something close to four years) is someone who was not active here at all. They were out there living life and struggling but not sharing it or forcing themselves to be accountable by talking about it here.
I'm guilty of it myself, because when I was having trouble after the birth of my daughter I went off to my hidey hermit hole and avoided VST for a while. I spent a few days doing the mindless snacking thing and gained one pound while still having eight to lose from the baby...no big deal, really, but it goes to show how easy even those of us that have worked very hard at breaking habits and changing our lives can slide in times of stress or anxiety.
Being addicted to VST is far less painful than being addicted to french fries. I'll take this addiction any day.

Get a disposable camera and have someone take your picture the day before or the day of surgery. Every month on your surgery date, have your picture taken. After the one year anniversary picture, take the camera and have it developed!!! It's a "wow" moment, laying all those pictures side by side and seeing your transformation!!!! A really fun thing to do!!!
