I was told not to worry. Mathematically it has to happen. For the first time in my life I don't have to obsess about it.

Get a pot of Water, add Old Bay Seasoning and a lemon sliced in half, squeeze the juice in the pot, then add the whole lemon. Once you have a rolling boil, add your frozen crab legs. boil for 3 minutes, remove and eat. That is for snow crab (the thin legs, smooth red and white shell). For King crab, (spiny bigger legs), 5 minutes. I usually cook my clusters in rounds, only 1-2 clusters at a time, if you dump a lot in the pot at once, the water will get too cold, it will take too long, and then you will have water logged crab. Good Luck!

I agree! Regardless of what the scale says, what a great piece of evidence that your stomach is looking smalller.

Don't set goals by dates, set goals like once you hit a certain weight you get something new or just hitting a number in itself is a goal. My first goal is 199 and I'm at 201. I don't have a date on it, it's my goal because I will be under 200 at that point. Im currently 30lbs down from where I started and I while I still have awhile til I met my long term goal I have a ton more energy to enjoy life and do things with my kids. It's not about time goals it's all about weight goals and feeling good about yourself!

So, saying that the way these folks are living and eating will lead them to failure? My diet, during the most weight I've lost phase wasn't on point at all. I ate whatever I wanted when I was reintroduced to solid foods. I've had ice cream, candy, etc in very small portions and have lost 115 pounds in October, 90 of that since Feb when I had my surgery. I do think commenting on how other people work their sleeve and saying they'll fail is a bit over board. Just like now, I cyclical Keto diet, meaning I have 12 days of minimal carbs, and then 36 hours of 2 days I eat high GI carbs, which 90% of you on here would freak out and say I'm going to fail. I do what works for me, and that's all anyone can and should do. There's no cookie cutter program. I think over analyzing the diet aspect and freaking out over macro's leads to eventual failure, especially as a larger person who has struggled with weight loss all of their lives.
The way I see if, there are 2 boats, both going to the same place. One is the strict, I only eat wholesome healthy foods, and the other is the I don't want to "diet" my entire life and I'm going to still enjoy food but on a much smaller scale. Now, every once in a while, some do jump over board and swim back to the shore which can and has lead to failure, sure it happens, but not everyone who enjoys food from time to time is going to fail on this journey.
Many people had dealt with judgement their entire lives. And someone who's been sleeved coming in saying "I'm concerned" is the same as judgement to them, regardless of how you saw it or what you were trying to do. It could have gone either way. You could have been more sensitive to their diet and feelings, or they could have just understood that you're concerned for their general health and only want what's best for them, and they should know what works for them and let it slide. I know what I eat isn't always the cleanest most best thing for me out there, but no major stalls, bodyfat% has dropped every month (not BMI, but DEXA scanned), and each week when I step on the scale I see a lower number.

Thank everyone for their help and kind words, from people who were kind. I did not ask for help meaning to start problems.
As a family we made a decision. I took EVERY opinion into consideration.
We decided for me to do the surgery first so I will be able to take care of Kaleigh when she has it. We are planning it for the Christmas Holidays. This will also give her time to see first hand what she will go through.
In the meantime, I signed her up for a very detailed, high dollar weight loss program.
It is customized to her needs. It is not a LA Weightloss type place where everyone gets the same diet plan.
They also believe in high Protein and low carb diets so she will already be used to the after surgery diet.
Shw will also get full lab work done including tests for diavetes, thyroid, cortisol, B12, cholestetol, and alot more stuff. She will be seeing a doctor so if there is something wrong they will help her fix it.
She will see a nutritionist weekly, she will get her metabolism tested weekly to make sure everything is working right, she will be getting b12 injections weekly, shw will be monitoring her diet on a website daily for her nutritionist, she will wear a monitor 24/7 that wil monitor her exercise and caloric intake constantly. There is alot more as well.
I paid half of what the surgery would cost for 3 months of this program.
I pray it works but we all know how diets work. I am not expecting miracles but at the very least it will help her adjust to what life will be after surgery.
So basically she is still scheduled for surgery but it is being put off for a few months. I believe she is mature enough to handle it. I hope this works and something that drastic doesn't happen but I am a realist about diets.
This is a very intense diet and if it does not work for her it just proves even more how much she needs surgery.
Thank everyone so much and I will let everyone know her progress as well as mine.
She is still my support person fof Mexico so she will have a seat front and center for that portion.

You are right and I bow down to you. Infact let's fire all the doctors too since most cardiologists have never had a hear attack so what do they know? And those male ob gyns too! Imagine them knowing how to deal with being pregnant! When I go back to work in a week I will be sure to tell all the other nurses and doctors that we are idiots who cannot advise anyone of health issues unless we have the same medical problems. And we better find shrinks who are crazy too right? After it takes one to know one right?
You deserve the blue ribbon for this line of thought. Thanks for a laugh.

If you are absolutely sure about your Fluid intake, are you on any blood pressure meds which may be lowering it too much? And is blood sugar an issue for you? If you're getting enough Protein, are you getting some carbs? Not crazy amounts or anything, but really low carb can cause some of that especially if it's sudden. Just random thoughts from someone who has not been sleeved yet.

I would get checked out just to be on the safe side. But this is what my life was like for the first month post op . Tierd ,dizzy, and sleepy. Your body is going through a major change and shift that will take a while to level out. Keep up the fluids which can be the culprit and Protein. Good luck and hope you get better fast

I didn't read all the comments so someone may have already said this....
I would do it because she will learn to eat healthy and learn Portion Control now while she is young. Things that we learn while we are young, especially habits, stick with us our entire lives. If she learns portion control now it will stick with her forever.
I would suggest that she prove to you that she is serious by learning to eat healthy now. She can be losing while you go through the surgery, then once she SEES what you have to endure and helps you while you to through this very difficult surgery then if she still wants to proceed and she has been successful in learning how to eat healthy then I would let her proceed.

I understand the pain your daughter is feeling. I was the same way. Missed 43 days my freshman year of high school because I hated the way I looked. I didn't make the best choices and even didn't reach my potential in school all because I didn't want anyone seeing me. If she has a genetic link to being overweight than all the diet and exercise in the world won't likely be successful long term. The sleeve can help her NOW and alleviate years of private humilaition of being obese. She may just blossom after that. I would do it for my daughter in a heart beat. There's no point in waiting until she's older and even more introverted. 14 year olds have babies. That is way harder than a sleeve. I will stand my ground on this one. You are her mother nobody else and I for one support you.

I think you are right to help your daughter now before the situation gets worse - it sounds like there is a true metabolic situation for her. Dr. Alvarez sleeved his niece when she was 14 - teens recover much quicker and will not have the years of physical and mental damage adults have had. Let us know how things turn out!
