Judys - You know in your heart that you are following the rules so you should lose soon. If not, consider talking to your nutritionist and your surgeon again about increasing your metabolism and testing to determine if there is something else interfering. Above all, remember, we are on a marathon not a sprint. Next year at this time...I bet you will be worrying about what to do with all the clothes that are way too big. Take good care.

AMEN!!! I agree with all these post. As long as I am not gaining I will try not to complain. I just can't believe with as little and as healthy and exercising the weight is not falling off of me. My best friend always says, :"well, how long did it take you to gain that weight???" I am 4 weeks out and have lost 20 but 7 was pre surgery!!

Hey Judy, don't get discouraged. I lose slowly too, I've lost 46lbs and I'm 4 months out, but I look at it this way, Maybe we won't have as much loose skin if we lose slowly. As Long as we are exercising regularly, eating our dense proteins first, and doing what we are suppose to we are ahead of the game. Would you have lost the 40 lbs without the sleeve? I know I wouldn't have lost any weight by myself, 'cause I tried everything known to man and nothing worked. Good luck keep plugging away!

I'm at 5 months and as of today 55 pounds gone. I am losing way slowly too. I think part of it for me anyway, is I am not 20 something anymore. I post menopausal, and have PCOS. I think it's just the cards I've been dealt. I am more frustrated that I was...I am happy to have the 55 gone, as I wouldnt have done that in a year without the surgery.......but yeah......it's not always easy coming here and watching those posts of 100 pounds gone 6 months! The good person in me is happy for those who are having that sort of success, but the crappy person in me is shooting darts from my eyes and telling me to go eat a brownie! grins

Dont be embarrassed you are not alone. I am only a little over 3 weeks out and I have only lost 5 lbs (I lost 15 on the pre op diet)
I am following all the rules to a T...today my scale went up! I dont know how or why (and my period was last week so its not water gain from that)
To make matters worse I saw a friend today I haven't seen since July, so even before my pre op diet. She looked me up and down and said wow, you don't look any different at all. I got in the car and bawled.
I guess what I keep seeing over and over is we are all different and our bodies will adjust and will lose.. we just have to be patient (not a virtue I was given:/)

Judy, Im so glad u had the guts 2 address this. I WANT 2 EAT ALL OF MY FAVORITES, & its a constant battle in my head. My mind is saying EAT IT but my stomach is saying U BETTER NOT. I cant lie I have tried somethings & my stomach was very upset with my choices. This surgery should come with a brain zap that makes u forget all of the things u use 2 eat, so we wouldnt have 2 go thru this WORLD WAR within ourselves. I am glad I got this surgery & it will save my life but this is the HARDEST thing I ever had 2 do. This is NOT the easy way out!

Judy, I thank you so much for sharing your story with us. I was thinking that it was just me going the the food battle in my head. I found my self looking at the food channels something I have never done in my life. Now, I'm trying to watch it every chance I get.
I'm praying to have a better day, and to keep my mind focused on the prize I'm down 35lbs since my first doc visit on May 13. So I know I have to do better, but Lord knows it HARD AS ALL GET OUT!!!!

    Hi Judy, I'm new to VST and not yet sleeved. I've been reading up, trying to prepare myself and my family for what's to come. I just read this out loud to my husband because it painted such an incredibly vivid picture of what early post op will be like. Thank you for sharing, and I'm going to adopt the "no baking anything sweet ban" as well! Gentle {{{hugs}}}

Oh dear Judy <<<HUGS>>> This was one of the most challenging times for me also fighting the battle with head hunger rearing its ugly HEAD! This WILL get better, but it WILL take time. Avoiding these triggers is a great option for now. :-) Today I had a conversation with my NUT and asked how long I would have to battle the 'head hunger' and/or food fight...and she said FOREVER, imagine my mouth drop...
I keep telling myself that they only did surgery on my STOMACH not my brain/thoughts....
Keep your chin up! Here on VST we are rooting for you!
    Best of Luck!
    -Cassie

    Hello there,
I got it but then again I am 50 , lol, I am 3 weeks out and I know exactly what you are saying. My family still wants to eat and they do miss my cooking. Both my hubby and my son have actually lost weight since my surgery because I am not spoiling them with those extra yummy things that made me fat in the first place. You are right, we can do this, we do have that inner determination and strength acquired by years of experience. Why on earth would anybody go through all of this just to cheat themselves in the end. Good luck to you,
    Neuanfang

I felt so hungry also and my stomach was growling. the Dr said it was mental hunger...uh..I don't believe that. The 2 weeks of liquid was really a stuggle for me...jello, popsicles, gatorade. I had quit the nutra sweet and everything tastes so sickening sweet n gross to me. Finally on the soft stuff....and I really feel better. Just timing food and drink. But it makes you think of what you are putting in your body. Things will get better....it will
