Congratulations! You are going to be fine. In fact, my surgeon told me "just relax and the wigt will just melt off". My surgery experience was interesting, I was alone in Mexico. I had some nausea post op, but never puked. I was able to get up and walk pretty easily, the next day I showered, and started sucking on ice chips. Now a month out, I'm down 27 lbs. wearing clothes from the part of my closet that haven't fit for 4 years. I have very little hunger, had fun with the liquids and full liquid phases. I had a little discomfort for a week or so, but since then no pain meds. My only issue today is that sometimes it feels like Water gets stuck going down. I'm drinking ok today, but it's a day to day thing. My DH has been sticking to me like glue. He feels horrible that my travel companion to Mexico backed out at the last minute and that I went alone, so I've got huge love and support on the home front. I have freedom today from 45 years of having the food monkey on my back. I can follow directions around what I should and shouldn't eat like never before. For me, it's been incredibly freeing. I take it for what it is today and choose to live in gratitude for this amazing gift that I have been given. I wish you all the best. If you have done your research, there will be no surprises. If you need any support, I'd be honored to help you anytime.- August Sleevers?

- Post-Op Full liquids Creamy Shrimp Bisque
I'm on my last day of full liquids and am headed To the grocery store. I have a huge pot of zucchini soup ( tis the zucchini season) in my fridge full of blended white meat chicken. It's been yummy, but I'm gonna go with the bisque today! Thanks.- Meals for you vs. meals for family
I thought it would be tough. For some reason it was not. Maybe because I resolved to follow the surgeons instructions, but oddly even though the food looked good. I just haven't been tempted to eat things that I shouldn't. It's gotten a little tougher this week, at the end of 3 wks of liquids. I get to start soft food tomorrow. But still, I'm hanging in there.- Any success stories for the 50's group?
I'm 50. Sleeved on 8/6. High weight in July was 230. Surgery wt was 221. Today. 202.5. My shorts come off without unbuttoning them. I'm thrilled!- Fifty Pounds Down
Congratulations. I can hear your glee in your writing. 50 lbs is awesome and I wish you continued success!- Lightweights in the house! Any more people with less to lose/less BMI's?
- Blood clot in arm 6 days post op
My thoughts exactly!- How long till you felt human
I could have gone back to work this week. Loads of energy, little if any pain. Gonna clean my house and pack fir a weekend camping trip today. That's more than I ever wanted to do pre-op. Feeling rough will pass. I had my surgery on Tuesday, started really feeling more normal on Saturday.- My husband is killing me!
- Rating protein powders
- is there anything safe to take when you are constipated?
I took Ducolax. I got the Kroger brand because it was cheap. I was about 6 or 7 days without pooping and was worried. I ended up taking one around 11am, one at bedtime the same night, and one at bedtime the following night. Voila! The next morning ( day 9 without a poop), I was relieved. Not impacted which was my fear. I did have a few cramps over the few days, but they didn't last long. I hope you feel better soon.- 9 day postop need advice
Sorry to hear about your back pain. I have a pain under my left side that makes it hard to relax on my side. It developed after I had my first belly laugh last evening. In general I haven't slept well since surgery and hope this will pass. Today, I plan to walk, walk, walk and hopefully the pains will subside and I will be more tired? Who knows.- August 6'ers?
I'm also day 6 and will be in the secret group so we can keep in touch. I'm having minimal pain, and am getting bored, no driving, no lifting, walking is the only allowed exercise. My biggest issue, and the one I will be addressing today is constipation. I'm drinking more, committed to getting 3 Unjury protein shakes today. I've added Benefiber to the drinks, but no results yet. Maybe prune juice and a laxative. My post op plan is 1 full week of clears. Then 2 week full, then very soft. No solid food until week 4. I'm finding the unflavored Unjury tastes best in Gatorade. And even at that, it's an effort to hang in with it. Water, Popsicles, and chicken broth are better. Today I promised myself to get all my protein and fluids, and I feel like I can keep that promise. That's progress. Dr sent me home with Toradol tabs that I am to take for pain every 6 hours. I feel it when I try to skip, and I'm not having side effects, so manage to take 3 or 4 per day. My pain is at the 2 larger incisions. Maybe it will be better when I'm not FOS???? I'm not too tempted by food yet. Nice to see I'm steadily loosing weight. Can't seem to skip a day checking the scale. All good, in the scheme of things!- August 2013 Roll Call
That's supposed to be "good" luck.- August 2013 Roll Call
I have surgery tomorrow, finally! Thanks for all of your posts and well wishes for the 8/6 crowd! Now for another sleepless night.... Todd luck to everyone tomorrow! I'll be thinking of you.- Lightweights in the house! Any more people with less to lose/less BMI's?
Welcome Leelah68! Glad you are on the ride with all of us.- Before and During Photos!
You look amazing! Congratulations on your success!- My how things change
So my support person who was going to accompany me to my surgery chickened out today. She's too afraid to go to Mexico and to be there for me. She's been one of my closest friends for years, and has been my confidant and my supporter in moving forward with this. I'm feeling the full gamut of emotions. Frankly I'm disappointed. I'm sad. This is my time! This is my new life. I don't know who will be in my life as I change. I'm not sure what kind of crap I'm going to put up with in my new life. This is a test, this is only a test. One thing is for certain....I'm ready for my surgery. I'm flying out Monday, no matter what, and I have no fears of going alone. I travel for work all the time. This is another trip, but it's for me, and it's not a spur of the moment selfish decision. It was a decision made with the support of my husband and my (now not) support person. It's just a glitch in the system. I'm not eating over it, I'm shedding a few tears is all. This is my rant. My first topic, and my first rant. Deep breaths.- Lightweights in the house! - Picked Surgery in Mexico, great!... Now what do I do?
I told my PCP who was more or less neutral about it. He's always supportive of me, I only see him once every couple of years at his request. He has other patients who have had good outcomes with the sleeve, so was neither for or against it. When I get back from Mexico, he'll take care of me as needed. Guess I'm lucky to have a nice relationship with my PCP. - Nerves are starting to kick in
