I feel your pain. I didn't have a drain...but I did have diarrhea. You must be very careful with that. More than 3-4 stools a day is cause for concern. Make sure you are getting in at least 64 oz of Water (which is impossible at day 6) or have your dr. Send you in for fluids. I had to go twice after being released. I still battle diarrhea almost 4 weeks out...but its easier to get my Fluid in so its managable. When you get dehydrated...you have zero strenght and just feel sick in general. Call your dr. Tomorrow. Good luck to you!

    Hey,
I am a nurse as well. Please be careful to not over do it - even if you feel great in the morning. I was sleeved on 6/12/13 and felt good at the end of week one - so I went out for some errands with my mom. Bad decision! :/ I have had to get IV fluids twice since then for dehydration. First I slept too much recovering and got behind. Yesterday I had a strange day of nausea and weakness - no home treatments working and couldn't get anything in. Spent the evening in the ER last night - lol. Always nice for a nurse to explain how she can't physically be a compliant patient. I had no nausea this whole time until yesterday. Took zofran and regland to get it controlled. Phenergan knocks me out for 2 days and I need to stay up to drink. Lol! I thought after everything, I would be the one walking 30 min a day first day home. At this time, I am reduced to laps around my downstairs and pacing in my bedroom. Today I feel like a new person - but terrified of a replay of yesterday. Considering asking for an order for PT to get me going - I was 100% physically normal before surgery and am 32 yo. Also considering asking for 3 days of some bid LR infusions at home. Makes me sound wimpy - but never expected a recovery like this. From one nurse to another - take it easy and know you are not alone in feeling exhausted.

I don't feel pain when I'm full, just pressure. It is a little uncomfortable when I take that "one bite too many" and I can feel a burp worm its way around the food to get out. I've always been real careful about not eating until I make myself sick. I've come close a few times and that was close enough for me.

So I am on 11 days post op and I have just been a little grumpy girl. .... everything and everyone annoys me so much, and I feel weak. I am not drinking enough Protein and this I know for a fact, but I can't stand Isopure or Unjury. And I barely finish 1 Protein Shake a day (about 30grams) does anyone have a better way to get protein? Is their protein capsules I can take? ? Also something to calm me down. ... I'm pretty sure my family and friends are tired of my crabbyness. Lol

I bought my first smaller size today while shopping! I was able to fit into a size 20 jeans when I used to be a size 24. They're still a little snug, but wearable. And it gives me the chance to wear them for a bit while I continue to lose. I'm almost 3 weeks out, and it's nice to see progress!

I have started tryin for VSG for about 5 years. I am finally have it done with Dr. Borland in one week. I am excited an nervous all at the same time. The reason I have decide to have the VSG is because I have PCOS and have tried to get pregnant for around 6 years. We haven't been able to conceive even with Metformin, Provera, Colmid treatment. I changed OBGYN and she told me that she would refer me to a fertility specialist, but the first thing that he would want me to do is to lose weight. I started crying because if it was that simple I would've already done that and I explained to her I have tried every diet and excersise program know to man, but couldn't get the weight off. She said that it was the PCOS, but still needed to lose weight. That day I walked out of her office with tears in my eyes and decided that day I would have WLS. That was sometime February 2008. I since then have adopted 3 beautiful babies, they are my life, and I couldn't imagine my life without them. My husband and I love them so very much. I still would like to carry on my own. I am finally getting to have the surgery done next week. We are looking to complete our family with one more addition!

When did you feel thinner? I felt thinner after about 40 lbs. I had to put pictures side by side to see the comparison. I looked in the mirror and still saw the same person.
When did you buy new clothing? I was about 2 months out before i bought a new pair of pants. And I bought a smaller size by chance. I was wearing a size 16 from LB. I went to NY & Co and was looking for a size 16 jean. All they had was a 14 & 18. I took both in the fitting room and ironically the size 14 fit so I didn't even try the size 18! This weekend I bought a size 12 thinking it wouldn't fit....I got home and it fits!
When did you start changing sizes? See above
When did you know to get rid of clothing? I still haven't gotten rid of any clothing. I guess the fat girl in my thinks this diet will fail and i will still need the clothes even though I am working so hard...
My mentality has obviously not changed about myself eventhough i look at everything else differently. Just try and if a new size doesn't fit try again in a week or two

    i'm so very sorry.
staying in the hospital for a week
iv, antibiotics - if doing this, and you will be fine - worth the inconvenience of the hospital stay
    hopefully no more side effects/problems
being down, depressed now - i can only imagine how you must be feeling
wish i could take the kids for you (seriously) and put your mind at ease
hopefully you have family - mom, siblings, friend that will come to your rescue????
i'm sure someone can understand the severity of your situation - and help out
even if people alternate - couple of days mom comes over, then one friend, later someone else
you should/must have help once you get home
you will be recuperating - and you need your rest - and some help too maybe
    good luck hun
    take care

My surgery was 2 weeks ago. I got out of bed in preop and told them to take out the IV, I had changed my mind. My Dr had to come talk me down. He let me stay 3 days and I was more than ready to go home. Almost no pain! You will be fine!

No op is a picnic but almost all are easier than childbirth!
Are you frightened of the op or unsure of your decision? I am always anxious re ops but sailed through this one with few problems. Bit of pain on first night and twinges and aches to follow, but nothing major for most of us. Felt better every day and a month later I can hardly believe I had it done.
If you're nervous about how you'll cope after, most drs seem to let patients have a day or 2 extra if you ask - it's good to go home confident. Don't rush yourself.
I feel good and have progressed to casseroles and the like now. I thought it was 'mental' to have a perfectly healthy stomach removed... But now it feels quite natural. I can eat what I need to, and expanding choices are great! What I needed that whacking to great fundus for I don't know.

The anticipation is so much worse than the actual pain. You will likely have one or two rough days due to the gas but the pain meds will.get you through it so you don't even have to be all that aware of it. After that you start feeling better fast and it is so worth it! Best of luck to you!

You will be fine. Get up and walk walk walk even if you don't feel like it. When you are done walking, walk some more. Get the gas moving and out of your body as quickly as possible so you will feel less pain tomorrow. Walk, walk, walk. Then walk. Don't be afraid to ask for pain meds if you need them. Don't be surprised when you can't drink anything today but start on those ice chips as soon as they will let you. And then? WALK!!
You are in my thoughts today!

itsabouttime2013 reacted to Aries in SO Annoying! Anyone else share my frustration?
I went out to dinner with my boyfriend today (this is not the frustrating part, lol). He ordered half a dozen garlic rolls smothered in butter, rib rolls, full rack of ribs, and a brownie sundae. Oh, and 4 refills of his coke.
I had half of a mahi sandwich without the bread and maybe a tablespoon of black Beans.
Since I was done much earlier than him, I sat there and essentially watched him eat. At one point, just as a morsel of BBQ Sauce started dripping down the side of his mouth, I felt a really strong urge to smack the ribs out of his hand and yell SSSTOOOOPPPPP EATINGGGGGG!!!! I mean, seriously. He INHALES his food. I could swear that sometimes he doesn't even chew it. It's really unattractive to see him eat so much. Does anyone else feel this way? Am I a horrible girlfriend? Lol
Oh, and as I write this, he just went to the kitchen for a "tiny snack". Smh
I know he doesn't order so much delicious food on purpose. He's a big guy (6'3" and maybe 220lbs) so I understand he won't be satisfied with a Caesar salad. But c'mon.
Let me say one more thing: I have no desire to eat any of the stuff that he ordered. I was perfectly happy with my sandwich. but ordering and eating all that food?? Does anybody else get frustrated/annoyed/disgusted when watching people eat unhealthy food? Is it just me?

I'm 3 days post-op and feeling great! I did over do it tonight going to the store, but just needed to get liquids and rest. My pain was very minimal after surgery and had no nausea it truly felt like I had a pair of pants on 2 sizes too small. My throat hurt worse than my tummy did!
Just take a deep breathe and keep a positive attitude! My pain is almost all gone, if you would call it pain, feels like I had an amazing core work out yesterday.
Plan everything out and be prepared before going in having your next stage or two of good prepared!

Yes, I wish I could chew food but finally it is settling in that I did this for a reason so I must ride the ride. Today, I hit the elliptical and managed to get almost all of my Protein in...next step getting Water in! I hope all you May sleevers are hanging in there and hopefully we will all reach goal healthy and together!
