  1. 110 lbs in 5 months? Crazy!! Congrats!
  2. Before surgery I would drink rooom temp water all day at work. Now water just doesn't sound good. Have tried it room temp and with ice, Think I might try drinking it hot and see if I like it better. A "normal size" gal I work with fills her water bottle from the hot water tap on the coffee machine each morning. I could drink Crystal Light Lemonade prior and now that just seems way too sweet.
  3. I wasn't told. Just to try for 60-90g of protein and under 900 cals/day. I set up MFP for 100g of protein and 800 cals.
  4. Woooo Hoooo!! You go girl!
  5. I don't think I'll have that problem this time but have in my adult life after having kids gotten my weight down to where I felt too skinny. Had a hard time finding clothes to fit without going to the kids section, collar bones sticking out, etc... and was still in a normal weight range according to the charts. Go figure. Congratulations on your success!!
  6. You look great! Enjoy your weekend away!
  7. Was taking 9 or 10 pills plus 15 units of Lantus/insulin prior to surgery. Went home from the hospital day after surgery on 2 1/2 pills and no insulin. So not really due to weight loss at that point but a big benefit of the surgery and food changes. Hope to be off everything sooner than later:)
  8. You're doing great! I'm sure you'll reach whatever goals you want.
  9. You've still lost 15 lbs in about 9 days. The body needs to adjust to the surgery, recovery and weight loss. You may not see the numbers go down every day. I weigh myself once a week with hopes of seeing the number on the scale move.
  10. We all recover differently of course but that being said I could have easily traveled to visit my family out east 3 weeks post op especially if you're staying with family so you can be prepared for your eating:)
  11. Search Bariatric Recipes or Weight Loss Surgery Recipes
  12. You will feel more restriction/fullness as you go through the different stages of food. My dr said clear liquids prettys much go through so no real full feeling but as you add protein in solid form even yogurt and refried beans you will feel it more. Even more so with dense protein. I've added fish and chicken now and notice a difference. Have not added beef or pork yet due to nut list.
  13. Approx 10 days for me. Had taken 2 weeks off work and had no problems. Today I forget I even went through major surgery except for the obvious changes
  14. I see many people mention they have. I held off on milk til last week. Tried 8 oz of skim with chocolate or vanilla Protein powder and no problem. Happy about that!
  15. Congrats! Any updated pics to share?
  16. Per Dr 2 weeks prior I had an 800 cal/ approx 90 g of protein diet of the recommended protein supplements they sell which included drinks/shakes, hot chocolate, oatmeal, bars etc...Day before sugery was clear liquids with no food or drink after midnight.
  17. Agree with others protein always first. greek yogurt, refried beans, tuna or egg salad, fish, low fat string cheese or other low fat cheeses including cottage cheese. So sorry about your hubby:( Hope he's back soon. I have a friend who also had a leak:(
  18. Good idea to keep your back to the shower spray the first few times. I didn't scrub my incision area but just let the soap suds run over it and do their thing!
  19. 6 weeks out, sleeved 5/15/13 1. No nausea at all Was in hospital for 1 night and I know they gave me anti-nausea meds in pre-op and in my IV after surgery. Came home with nausea meds but never took one. 2. My kids are young adults. 3. Swimming or baths were out for me until incisions fully healed. I think 4 weeks but don't have my notebook near me.
  20. You look awesome and healthy!!!!!!!
  21. How much protein are you getting? That could be it! I shoot for 90g a day. My guidelines are 60-90 g per day.
