I learned yesterday at my NUT appt that after about 75-80 grams of protein your body just pees it out... are you eating two snacks? Exercising? Maybe up your calorie count to closer to 900 is the key!

Yes I agree don't give up... I met a friend yesterday who had another weight loss surgery (Duodenal switch) and lost 145 lbs in the last 5 months. His skin didn't do so well and he is still a young man, so slow and steady is better in the long run, also try increasing your activity that helps to give your body an extra boost. Good luck

This is very normal. Your body is still healing and trying to find its way, so to speak. You have lost 19 pounds. That is an accomplishment that can be celebrated. Be gentle with yourself and give yourself time. You got this. Stay the course.

Completely normal, search 3 week stall, you may not technically be 3 weeks, maybe a little more, but still applies. Stick with it! Also, check your inches!

    I'm on Day 2 of 7....it sucks. I'm hungry, have already cheated a little (improvised) to help me get thru it. My surgery is Monday. I'm sooo excited. I wondered today if my Liver has shrunk any too. =~}

I would also like to add that you will feel hunger in your tummy if you have too much acid. You need to take an acid blocker like prevacid or zantac once a day for a few weeks, especially right after surgery. This is where some folks hunger comes from.. too much acid. Some if it is head hunger. Are you bored? Sometimes when I am bored, I tend to have that "never get full" thing and am always looking for something to snack on or eat. I had to really work on that after surgery. I am almost two years out and have been at goal for almost a year. Try drinking some water when you think you need to eat and cut back on the carbs. They make you crave more. Find something to do to keep your mind and hands busy. That should help with it. If you are busy, time will pass and you will realize you were not truly hungry. HTH Tammi

Yes I used Milk of Magnesia also around 9 days after surgery because being on a liquid diet you don't produce much in your own poop factory if you know what I mean lol . ... So I hadn't gone for a while and didn't want it to get excessive. I took 2tbsps and after a while HELLOOO Nelly! I didn't have any cramps but there was some "urgency" in the message. Good Luck!

Hello, I am 11 days post op and have the same tightness in my chest/uppper stomach area when I swallow. It sort of feels like something is stuck there. I am not sure if you are describing the same feeling or not but from what I have been told it is "normal" I am going to follow up with the doc again tomorrow to make sure it should still be there. I have a feeling it is just trapped gas. If he has anything to say otherwise I will let you know. Also, I think you are doing pretty darn good with the liquids! I think you are doing better than I was 5 days out so GOOD FOR YOU!

Daughter brought me a cup of chicken tortilla soup from red robin. Put me over almost 100 calories, but was worth it.

Pre-op dieting was definite the hardest part of the entire process, other than the waiting. Hang in there!!

have you tried making more with the shakes... I used my food processor... put crushed ice... added milk... shake mix, diet pudding , and mix it up... its like eating ice cream if you do it right... experiment ... don't deprive yourself... make it likable... you can do this... this is the worst part really... good luck and I love your new hanging plants... nice view...

Today was better...sort of. Had my am shake blended with 1/2 banana. Lunch shake plain blended with Ice. Drank couple glasses of water and an ice tea. Then lean cuisine at dinner. Was still hungry so ate a cup of steamed broccoli. Then a couple bites of plain yogurt. I'm still hungry, but heading to bed.
It's hard to go from 2000-3500 calories a day to 900....

I was supposed to have 3 shakes a day, and clear liquids. Hang on. It is awfully hard for the first 3 days, and if you stick with it, you lose a lot of your hunger. The sugar is out of your system after about 3 days. I wasn't supposed to have fruit, but I did have some sugar free liquids and nibbled some ff yogurt.
Hang in there. IT is hard. But you can do it!

I'm a week post op today, and the pre-op diet was harder than anything I've experience post op!
But try to keep your eye on the prize... it will be worth it in the end, and by day 3 or 4 of my pre-op diet, my hunger was completely gone - and hasn't returned yet!
good luck, you will make it! DON'T CHEAT! I know you didn't say you did, but cheating, even a little, keeps you on the hunger train... The trick is to cut out your processed sugars and carbs so that you aren't feeding the beast and still feeling hungry all day. You can do this!!

I am 59, and was sleeved on April 9th, 2013. I had many of those same fears, but you learn quickly to eat slowly and chew well so don't sweat that part. The hunger is gone for me, I can only eat about 2-4 ounces at a meal, depending on what it is, and when you are full, you body tells you so my advice is listen to it! As far as eating out, I have done that, you just kind of find what works for you on the menu. I have eaten alot of soup! I order a glass of water or depending on the restaurant, I order an iced tea in a to go cup. That way I don't have to explain myself and can drink the drink later if needed. You can do it, take it one day at a time

Are you scheduled for surgery? Congrats on getting everything done!! The preop testing and insurance game felt like torture to me!
I'm scheduled for May 2nd. I start my liquid diet tomorrow, tho I sort of started on Sunday already. It's been going well. I've lost 7lbs since Sunday! I was also menstruating on Sunday and that might be part of the loss, but I don't care HOW it happened, I'll take a 7lbs loss in 4 days!!
I'm anxious about the not being able to chug water. Also the chewing to a pulp will be a big change, too. Sometimes I catch myself eating like a teenage boy - taking huge bites and barely chewing. It's amazing I haven't had digestive issues in my life because of this!! I've definitely calmed that down, but it's still hard for me to "practice" these behaviors. I think that once we're post op and our stomachs literally can't handle all of that, we'll catch on.
Good luck to you!! I'm rooting for you to get back on track and lose, lose, lose!
