  1. I hear you! im 13 days away and i freak out occasionally. its weird how the beginning seems to drag on and we complain and then wham! you turn around and its your surgery day. good luck to you and a speedy recovery
  2. honestly i would say adjust the pre op diet to how you feel. if you feel full then go with that. i am supposed to be drinking 6 shakes a day and i can have broth, sf stuff, and certain veggies. i really cant afford to have 6 shakes a day unfortuantely so i get about 3 sometimes 4 and maybe eat a tomato or a can of spinach and im usually full. i managed to lose 9lbs and feel pretty good about that.
  3. November 12th here in NY too! so excited! anyone know when do they do the final blood work etc? they havent called me to do it yet and i dont know what time im supposed to arrive at hospital yet. surgery will be at 9 am
  4. probably depends on the insurance company and im sure you will get a range of answers. i had my 6th weigh in on sept 21 and saw my surgeon on sept 26 at which time my paperwork was submitted the surgery was approved but the coordinator didnt receive the approval later until nearly a month later. i was scheduled just this last thursday for 11.12.13 good luck
  5. My date is 11/12/13 as well. I will be sleeved at new york hospital queens in flushing ny with dr castro! my pre op is 6 shakes a day, broth, certain veggies and inlimited sugar free beverages. i cant believe its almost here.
  6. i like this one better but i am also on dailystrength.org they have groups for many things though. i frequented the obesity board there. i know they have a weight loss surgery board as well but i never posted on it.
  7. Officially joining the November sleevers! just got my date yesterday and it will be 11-12-13! 9lbs lost on my preop so far!
  8. 11-12-13 is my date to be sleeved. (i like this date b/c i like that the numbers are consecutive, dont mind me i am a freak lol) I am super excited! they offered me a few different dates ranging from the 12th all the way thru to decemeber but i took the first date as i have been on the preop diet for a while now. i lost 9lbs already and am so proud of my self. I did Celebrate a little last night with something i wasnt supposed to have but it was one minor hiccup and not as bad as it sounds. i ate a can of black Beans with hot sauce and garlic. lol. back on track this morning though. I cant believe after 6 months of weigh ins and countless other appointments i am only 18 days away from a new and healthy me! The only song that keeps playing in my head is the riff to Europe's "The final countdown" (if you know it lol) Any one else have a date of nov 12th?
  9. you look absolutely amazing! congrats on all your success and keep up the good work!
  10. 58 lbs is wonderful congrats to you! i too have an obesession with the scale. i know i should only weigh in the morning, but i have a habit on getting on it everytime i go to the bathroom. i must weigh myself at least 5-6 times a day. i just cant help it.
  11. i am sure many of us feel the same way. some days i wonder if i am crazy wanting to do this and if i really need to. which is followed seconds later by a voice that says YES I DO. i cant keep taking diet pills and trying one crazy thing after the other. I lose very minimal weigh on traditional diets and once im off gain it back like its yesterday. I agree with another poster, dont have the surgery unless you are 100% sure. For me, after countless efforts i am ready.
  12. The coordinator said that she would call but i havent heard from her since last friday. If i dont hear anything by tomorrow or monday i am going to call her again.. i dont understand what the heck the hold up could be with a piece of paper esp since my insurance only serves the ny and nj areas so its not like it would be coming from far away.
  13. My boyfriend is the same way. always makes comments that im gonna leave once i look good. I say oh so i dont look good now lol. Seriously i try to explain to him though that i am still going to be the same person just healthier and more confident. But he knows that i dont want him coming to the hospital with me. all he does is stress me out and bust my balls, id rather be alone.
  14. very exciting! i am in the opposite boat, i have no clothes at all in my closet. And im not even kidding when i say this but i own: 1 pair of jeans 2 pairs of sweatpants 3 tshirts 2 "good shirts" (that i would wear outside, a green flannel and one dubbed "old purple" by my bf) 1 pair of work pants 2 workshirts how pathetic is that?
  15. i called the insurance company directly, but i still havent received the letter yet which is why i have no surgery date yet. i have been on the preop diet since sept 30th and am still waiting for the letter, im getting tired of these darn shakes.
  16. the chocolate protein powder from target is pretty good. the brand is market pantry. The vanilla tastes like crap though.
  17. My insurance required that i attend 2 support groups. they were good and the people were very nice. I will probably go once in a while, as i am not much of a public speaker. I find this site to be my "support group"
  18. arrgh. lol (im sure you're going to get alot of that). That stinks. how long before its cured?
  19. i got the approval from the insurance company themselves but they were supposed to send an approval letter to me and the coordinator and as of today they still havent. So the surgery is approved and i have no date yet. So its been about 3 weeks ive been waiting already.
  20. i feel your pain, i called my insurance company on oct 4th to check the status and they told me i was approved however myself or my coordinator have not yet received whatever approval letter we are supposed to receive. I still dont have an official date and have been on the pre-op diet since sept 30.
  21. You look beautiful! congrats on the new you!
  22. Are you allowed to have a tomato? Im allowed certain things on my pre op so i have a tomato with a little salt and pepper. Ive been on the pre-op diet since sept 30th. so that makes me 12 days in
  23. I am blown away by this post i started lol. There seems to be a whole world of beef jerky lovers!
  24. hello and welcome! i am in queens ny and will be 31 in dec! happy you joined in the conversations... keep us posted on your progress
