If you want to feel better, go to a restaurant. Count the number of obese people overeating. You will begin to feel the power you now hold!

I was 210 when I had surgery. I lost 18 pounds the first month, and I plan to be weighed again this coming Friday. (I refuse to buy a scale!) It is currently week #5 for me, and will be my 3rd weigh in at the center. In terms of success beyond weight loss, my Type I diabetes has improved tremendously! The surgery has lowered an inflammatory response my body had, and I am hopeful this means no more autoimmune conditions. (Half a dozen has been more than enough!) Looking forward to more success! Good luck to you! So glad your insurance is covering surgery #2!

Wanted to update everybody.....just as everybody told me, the added weight was just from IV fluids. I am now a full week out and have lost the extra 5lbs as well as an additional 6lbs! I am over the moon excited. Plus I have been able to get my Protein in with no problem now. I found some Protein Shots with 42grams of Protein in a mere 3oz bottle. Not the best flavor alone, but adding it to my crystal light has been tolerable maybe even good. I do one of those a day and then get the rest of my protein from food sources to get my total to 60grams as my Dr. has instructed. Once again thanks for all the support. And for those that also have a difficult time getting the protein in, you should definitely try the shots.

Teachamy got a reaction from ladyd728 in Chinese food
I am trying to remain grain free for the duration, so I haven't been thinking about any Chinese food, but I have been thinking about Thai. I plan to (someday) get steamed chicken and vegetables with spicy peanut sauce on the side.
But we need to be careful here...remember that a lot of Chinese food is fried and laden with sodium. We need to be smart!

So thankful for my wonderful guy. We've been married for 12 years this July, together for 16 years. He wants to see me healthy and has been very, very, very supportive. Feeling really sad for those in marital trouble.

Teachamy got a reaction from 1Day1Life4Now in How many people took their husband with them?
My husband took the time off from work to take care of the kids, pick them up from school, etc. I didn't know he was planning to do this until a few weeks before the surgery--I had my mom planning to come stay with me. Overall, it was nice to have them both there, except for the first day. I was so groggy from pain meds I was too tired to try to hold a conversation! Otherwise, it was nice to have my husband escort me to the shower and help dry me off--I remember that being a biggie for me. I had a male nurse most of the last 2 days, and as I became less groggy, I became more modest.

You will check in. Eventually a nurse will come and escort you to a pre-op area. I was given a johnny and socks and told to undress completely. I got on the bed (with wheels) and was covered by a blanket. They asked some standard medical questions. They applied a nausea patch behind my ear and inserted an IV. I met with the surgeon and the anesthesiologist. They briefly checked me over and answered questions. When it was time to be wheeled into the ER, I was asked if I'd like some medicine in my IV to calm my nerves. I said "YES!" I remember being wheeled down the hall and my husband kissing my forehead. That's the last thing I remember until I woke up. Never even saw the O.R.
Try not to be nervous--you will be fine. Definitely take the sedative if you need it.

LOL! I was just talking about this with my diabetes specialist yesterday! When my blood sugar goes low while I am sleeping, I dream about linguine! So weird! When I am awake, I never crave Pasta, but I used to love it, so I guess my mind is playing tricks on me!
I've been wondering about the movies too. I think I will bring my Water and try to get through 32 oz. during the film. That would be an accomplishment!
    Good luck!

I live in south Texas, in between San Antonio and Laredo. My family has lots of rental properties and are always in need employees to fill the cleaning staff. There is a BIG oil boom too. Lots of companies pay very, very well for all sorts of services, from cleaning staff to management. More than 20 hotels have gone up in the area, all short staffed. Message me. I can help you find a living situation and there is plenty of job opportunity.

Congratulations on your terrific weight loss!
Sounds like HE is the one who is insecure, and he's lashing out, big time!
He told you for years that he was embarrassed to be seen with you?? That is NOT how a loving spouse acts! And now he's telling you what to wear and what not to wear? That is very controlling - not a good sign. And he's blaming YOU for HIS weight gain?? Tell him he can cook for himself from now on, or at the very least he can serve his own plate. Do NOT take his sh*&!!
Please start going to counseling imMEdiately. My guess is he will refuse to go, but please don't let that stop you.

So excited! We will be only a month apart. So glad to be experiencing this journey with him. We are nervous because he is over 400 and high risk. He did really well on pre op.
Anyway. Wish us luck! He's having it at the hospital in which I work so I can kill two birds with one stone.
