Its just one thing after another!
Op, I learned too that the whey was what was making me so sick. My NUT suggested trying Jay Robb egg white Protein and it has worked well for me. Still looking forward to leaving all shakes behind when I'm on solid foods, but the vanilla egg white protein saved me from a very bad place. You can get it at the Vitamin shoppe. chocolate is ok, but the unflavored is NASTY, smells like fish in the bag and tastes even worse:(

Putting egg protein into hot things
So I got Jay Robb unflavored and tried to put it into soup... disaster. How do you properly put egg protein into hot things without turning it into scrambled eggs?

Cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, applesauce, smoothly puréed meats - ugh- , egg salad, tuna, canned chicken, but they all need to be finely puréed. So tired of everything looking like cat food. I just started last week and have to do purees til 8/1, don't think I'll make it.

I'm having diarrhea every day, ESP after eating my purees. Pretty much from day 1 but in the beginning it was whey intolerance causing it. Is this normal? Are you all experiencing it as well?

60g protein + 64oz water at 3 weeks = impossible!
Can't use Unjury or drink glasses of milk, as I said I have had lactose and whey intolerances:(

Does protein actually HELP you lose weight?
what kind of protein? is it the collagen type that people frown upon or an isolate?

60g protein + 64oz water at 3 weeks = impossible!
ok glad to know I'm not alone in this. spent a lot of time last night looking up exactly what foods give me the biggest "bang for the buck" and will be sticking closer to them, less experimenting. yogurt, cottage cheese, meats basically. it seems I can do one goal or the other, just not both. depends on what I focus on that day, and maybe I'll go back and forth for a while til I can attain both.

60g protein + 64oz water at 3 weeks = impossible!
Having the hardest time with this. I'm really trying but there's just no way I can get all this in. I'm in the pureed stage. I am eating and drinking all the time, and SO FULL all the time but still have to keep putting more in when I don't want it! Major whey intolerance so my only powder is Jay Robb egg white Protein (24g) and I still can't stomach it more than once a day, plus trying to use real foods. Anyone have any great ideas?

Terrible neck/shoulder pain at 2 WKs post -- still gas?
I'm having worse shoulder and neck pain now than in the days after surgery. It's right across the top back of my shoulders and into my neck. Is this still gas or not? I've been taking at least one good walk a day and working. I'm an artist, so I work at home making things and shipping. I do everything myself except lifting heavy packages. I started working on easy small stuff about 4days after returning home. Do you think this pain is caused by gas or by over-doing it with work? I had gas after a c-section but I don't recall it lasting this long. Thanks.

This may be TMI but...
yup. major diarrhea on protein shakes. I didn't tolerate them - bloating, sick, nausea-- but the whole time I had major dark nasty diarrhea.

Can't Tolerate Milk/Whey Proteins - options for fluid stage
Unjury and Nectar are whey.

Can't Tolerate Milk/Whey Proteins - options for fluid stage
So I'm 9 days post op with almost another week to go of "liquids". I've had a horribly uncomfortable time trying to stomach milk and whey Protein shakes. I would have one shake, take 2.5 hours to get it down, then be totally bloated and uncomfortably full for the rest of the day. This also impeded me from getting my fluids in, as I was so uncomfortably full I could take nothing more in. Spoke to my NUT yesterday and am waiting for a call-back today. She suggested Carnation instant Breakfast, but it's milk based and I reacted as expected. She also suggested blenderizing Soups with some protein to get some protein in. That's fine except in order to get the 40g of protein she wants, I can't physically eat all of that soup:( Most soups don't really have htat much protein. Been using egg drop and Hormel turkey chili with Beans so far -- got them down but can't eat enough to get to 40, no way. Does anyone have any idea of an unflavored NON-MILK and NON-WHEY powder that I can add to my soups, or another idea altogether? As I said I'm waiting on a call back but any help would be welcomed, getting frustrated beyond words.

June 2013 Sleevers GROUP
Hey everyone~ Checking in hoping to help some of you who can't stomach to Protein. Yesterday was a week post-op and my drs office called to check on me. I have been MISERABLE trying to get the protein in, feeling totally Thanksgiving full, like all the time... bloated, FULL, nauseated, and not getting in the liquids either because I was so full I coun't take any more in. I was doing one Protein shake in the am and it took like 2.5 hours to get it in, then MISERABLE for the who day. ugh I spoke with a NUT and we discovered together that I have an intolerance to the whey in all the Proteins. I have always been borderline lactose intolerant, and couldn't take real milk as a baby, had to have soy everything. She said something was terribly wrong with the way I had been functioning and took me off all the Protein shakes. She gave me permission to use egg drop soup and to blenderize any Soups to get all the bits out -- chicken noodle, tomato, chicken tortilla w rice. MY LIFE CHANGED OVERNIGHT! OMG, I am doing so much better, functioning as I finally should be! Getting the milk whey out has changed everything. I'm sipping a blenderized cup of chicken tortilla soup right now and had egg drop for Breakfast. Lots of room now to get my fluids in too. She said aim for 30 grams of protein for now, don't stress about 50. It is SO much easier! I am so thankful that I finally said something, that I finally said "enough is enough, this isn't right!". So maybe those of you who are not tolerating the shakes have something similar to me? What has your toleration of milk products been before surgery? If it was iffy like me, maybe the whey is the problem... Call your NUT!!
