Did anyone else experience this........?
I figured not everyone would get it. Chill guys, it's just pointing out how much information is available if you look. And I do get the point that people want to post their inquirys like they are the first to experience something or to get personal support. It's all good. Different strokes and all.

Did anyone else experience this........?
OK, let's examine the question. "Did anyone else experience this? Actually, chances are, the majority if not everybody did. Experience what, you ask? Well, pretty much every single question that ends with "did anyone else experience this. Most sleeve surgeries and recoveries are very similar and in so much that, we are all assumed to be of the human species, our experiences are typically similar as well. But what becomes apparent is what is being overlooked when these questions are repeatedly being asked. Let me explain. Your desperate to get a quick answer to your question, so you rush to post it and wait for a response.......possibly not getting the answer or the information you actually wanted and possibly not getting such a quick response either. After all, there may only be a few online at that particular moment. The point is, your overlooking what is right in front of you. The exact answer and information you need is located within the forum already. (numerous times) And is easily found by quickly searching thru the various categories and thread titles. And it's available instantly. And the real benefit is, while your browsing and reading, you're gonna find many other topics and posts on subjects you were thinking about questioning later. All this surfing will provide you with readily available knowledge to easily deal with or remove any fears, concerns or unknowns that might have continued to bother you. So if it can't wait, by all means ask away, but in the meantime, search the archives and ease your mind without the wait. This tidbit was brought to you by 'Recycled' with nothing to do at one in the morning......... .

Getting sleeved in 24hrs-nervous, scared, and an emotional wreck :(!
First, go lock the window. Cmon, that was funny. Really, just calm down and take a few deep breaths. You are ready for this. You've read up and gone thru the whole pre-op process. Stuck with it thru an appeal for approval. You want this and know it is going to make your life better. You're just letting yourself get too wrapped up in the unknowns. Is it gonna hurt? Will there be complications?? Forget all that. You have no control over it and if there are any issues, you will be plenty strong enough to handle whatever is required to get thru anything. But just think how silly you'll feel when this is over in the blink of an eye with none of the worrisome things swirling around in your head. Close your eyes and think pleasant relaxing thoughts and visualize yourself getting slimmer and slimmer and enjoying all the compliments. It's gonna be over so fast and you'll be home having a hard time even believing you had the surgery. And I want you to come back here with a big smile after to tell me I was right. Now relax and enjoy all the attention your gonna get in the hospital.

Bougie size?
Makes no difference to me. It could be a fire hose.......I could care less....... only 3 ounces is fittin' in there anyway.

Robotic assisted VSG
Yep, I did. Da'Vinci robotics (I had a post a while back with links). The experience?? ........ Went into the OR......woke up later. Just kidding. The experience is the essentially the Surgeon's of course. As far as outcome, my sleeve went smooth as a bell. Pretty much by the book, no pain, no issues (knock on wood). A month later and barely a trace of the marks. I also had unbilical and heital hernias repaired. No issues from those as well.

Pre-Op: Last chance to eat, drink, and be merry?!?!
I kinda did what you're suggesting and pretty much didn't follow any real diet during my 6 months wait. But to be quite honest, as I see the weight come off now, my determination gets stronger and I find myself actually liking the foods I am limited to. Probably because anything tastes great at this point. But with the lack of hunger and getting full on such small amounts of whatever I eat, I just don't miss all the past fatty food stuff. And some things undergo an unexpected change too. I loved sugarfree popcicles before surgery and in the weeks that followed, but they have become too sweet for me, so I lost my desire for them. It happens. Probably will for other things too later on. Doesn't bother me and I doubt you'll care either. Plenty of good healthy choices out there. So, back to your topic of pre-op diet..........I doubt it makes any difference. Enjoy.

Went kayaking! I challenge you to a sport!
I hear ya on the Kayak. I have had one for over 10 years and took it out maybe 3 times. I do have a large fishing/ diving (power) boat and take it out alot though. I guess when it comes to recreation for me, I prefer power. I have and enjoy all the guy toys.....Motorcycles, atvs, boats, flying, diving etc. Maybe I just got bored taking so long to get somewhere in the Kayak. I've kinda always hated exercise just for the sake of exercise and having the sleeve really hasn't changed that either. I do go to the gym and ride my bike and walk now, but I consider it a necessary evil. I'd still rather enjoy my rec time with power toys. So, I'd have to decline your Kayak challenge.....you'd beat the pants off me. I

13 + months post op, entering maintenance (pics)
I'm on myfitnesspal too, but that is where the similarity stops.......your food mantra is way over my head. All I do there is cuss out the chart for lying. At the end of each page is that infernal prediction of what I'll weigh in 5 weeks. I must not be human, cause it ain't happening..... Curse these damn stalls.

Why do i feel like i can eat a Cow?!?
I can still remember times before surgery when I would really eat too much. And I mean too much. I knew I shouldn't have eaten that much, but just kept eating. When it finally registered, I felt so bloated and full, it felt like I would pop. So uncomfortable and regretful. Well imagine my surprise when I reached the soft foods stage and with a measly 3 ounces, I have again felt those same "full to the brim" feelings. Except now it makes me chuckle. Yep......3 little ole ounces and I'm full. And it takes awhile to ease up too. How cool is that. It'll come, so be careful and measure your food and take it slow. Enjoy your sleeve.

Hey! New to the sleeve crew
You do now. Welcome aboard.

Can't tell if I'm full, can you?!
Is it you mind or your habits..?? Try to get your mind around the idea that those signals (like puking or pressure) you're feeling "are" the feelings of being full. And recognize that when you think you still need more food, that is just your old habits hanging on. Eating is what we all did. All the time. I filled any spare time looking for food to eat. I really didn't need it......I just filled in the time with eating. Now I'm full quick and there is alot of unused time and occasionally my thoughts go to thinking I'm still hungry. I quickly realize that's impossible and think of something else or go do something else to get my mind off of it. Re-teach your mind. Develop new habits. Busy yourself. Go walk or do some exercises. You'll get the hang of it.

Preop dieters... How are you keeping track?
My pre-op diet was simple......."liquids only" But to answer your question, yes there is a great app. check out myfitnesspal.com. Easy to use and update. Tracks everything and a very complete database of foods & drinks.

Are you able to take meds?
week 8??? I'd probably be dead. When it comes to who's in charge, my cardiologist is the boss. She's actually the one that kept me 2 extra days in the hospital and was the one to discharge me, not my Surgeon.

Are you able to take meds?
I take quite a few pills every day. I was off all of them a week before surgery and resumed a couple of days after. Only one I stopped taking as it was just really large and I didn't think it would go down right. Like others have said, you may have to have the levels adjusted as well. My doc is running a full blood panel at 5 wks to determine all my levels and if there are any absorption issues and will make any adjustments after that including adding the appropriate Vitamins if needed.

Full Liquids... Suggestions
I have a Blendtec blender and during full liquids I blended everything into full liquids. Supposed to use a strainer to get out the chunks, but with this Atomic blender there was nothing left behind in the strainer.
