  1. I think of Puree like pate'. I blend only enough so it remains thick - Tuna, chicken, turkey, Soups, etc. I also consider the foods that end up pureed while chewing, like cottage cheese and other soft stuff. After the liquids stage, anything with taste is good, so yucky doesn't become an issue.
  2. I been tracking everything I eat and my exercise on My fitness pal and my meals are getting boring. Plus, when I hit stalls, I start to think I might be doing something wrong or missing something. If anyone is using the app and doesn't mind, I would like to include them as My Fitness Pal friends so we could exchange info. Sorry ladies, but I am only requesting participation from the men on the forum. I feel men's metabolism and exercise programs are more gender specific and would better serve my interest in this area. My user name is "RecycledPlastic" on my fitness pal.
  3. 800 is my number, but I usually net around 600 after exercise.
  4. Yep, I agree. With the sleeve's limited space, I screen what goes in very closely. And the highest in protein gets priority.
  5. No dear, it is not too early......It's too LATE. As in no more, ever.......never, nada, nien, neit, or "Just don't do it". NO carbonation period. OK, I think you got the message.
  6. Muscle weighs more than fat. You could be still losing fat, but gaining muscle which nets some added weight. Plus the added weight training demands more calories and carbs. You might have to eat more. If everything is on track, just hang in there and the weight will drop. Plus adding more fluids can't hurt..
  7. There is no amount of advice about when to weigh that is going to stick for everybody. Everybody is gonna do what rocks their boat and settles their mind. I check every day as a incentive. And I use my own analogy about the result. If I lose, then I'm even more motivated to keep doing what I'm doing. If I stall or (the demon of all demons) gain, then I insert even more effort to double check everything and add in any adjustments I can to tweak the formula. I need the daily check to keep it number one priority. Others certainly may have other motivations to monitor their weight at longer intervals. Just go with what suits you.
  8. Grateful I found this site pre-surgery! Your gonna be even more grateful post as the members keep you on track and help you with any concerns or confusion. Definitely a "go to" forum for anyone getting the sleeve.
  9. liquid to puree is a big difference. At least it was for me. I really had no limitations with liquids. I could drink quite a bit in a very short time. The puree however will demonstrate to you just how big your sleeve really is. First measure the appropriate amount (for me about 3 ounces) and eat it very slow........then wait for the feeling of fullness. Kinda like pressure in the chest. Don't try anymore after that. Then wait for 30 minutes to drink. I pureed just about everything. It's good to have some real food taste. However, now with all the limits of a few ounces and all the before and after waiting to drink, you will have to be diligent to get in enough Protein and calories. Enjoy.
  10. While reading this post I could just hear the excitement in your words. I found myself sitting here just grinning from eat to ear acknowledging your achievement. Congrats. I mean that.
  11. go to your profile and click edit. then the surgery information, then update any information or weight.
  12. Both of you have a good frame of mind for tomorrow. You're there, so just try to relax and enjoy a nice nap tomorrow. You'll get to join all us losers soon.
  13. I have not read anyone's specific experience with plication, but in so much as it involves suturing the stomach just the same as in sleeve surgery, I would expect the recovery times and limitation to be similar. For the sleeve, lifting any weight is usually restricted for about a 4-6 weeks. This is a question I'm sure your surgeon would instruct you for post op recovery. If not, then ask him.
  14. I remember I would play a game as I was waiting to go into the OR. They are always expecting your BP to shoot up in anticipation of the surgery so, I would close my eyes each time they came to check my BP and think of getting a soothing deep massage with soft music playing, breathing slow and easy.........and would chuckle when they were shocked to see my BP didn't rise a bit. Plus the exercise is just plain great to stay relaxed. Give it a try and get in the zone. Good luck, see ya on the loser's bench.
  15. You are seeing the glass half empty. Try looking at is as what you might have gained instead of lost if you did cheat and partake of all those forbidden foods. You are fortifying your resolve to stay with the plan and eventually your habits and desires will change and you won't see passing on those foods as something you missed out on. By staying with it, you have more invested every day and are getting closer and closer to your goal. This is no time to slide back into old habits.
  16. It's funny but I just got some Pure Protein bars at costco as well and they didn't have the ones like you got. These are 20g protein and 14 carb. and look different, but also peanut butter/ chocolate. Doesn't make sense but, I guess it depends where the Costco is located. I'm in Miami.
  17. I am not quite a month out and I can get in about 1000 calories in food and Protein drink but usually end up with a net around 300-400 after exercise. I try to get in more, but the 1k is tough enough. And with all the 30min. before and after waiting, getting in the 65+ ounces of liquids seems to be tougher too.
  18. I think you mean a drain. And it really depends on your Surgeon.
  19. The liquid stage is very misleading as you can typically drink quite a bit more than the sleeve holds. Then comes the puree or the soft foods and you find out the actual size of the sleeve. Usually the hard way......
  20. Just made a drop off at Salvation Army of three large bags of clothes. And that doesn't count the ones I just threw out. Redid the closet with stuff from storage. It's telling the amount of smaller clothes I had in storage.........Literally tons of size L and 36 pants, then a whole lot less of 38's and XLs. Moving on to 42's and 2X's only about 10 and now everything above that is gone. I obviously disliked buying larger clothes as I grew, and kept the others, always expecting to lose back down. I can't wait to get back into the smallest in the closet. Nevermind actually wanting to go buy new clothes.
  21. The coordinator at my OS office took care of everything. And all the while I bugged her, she kept her cool and was very nice and thorough getting the approval. I never spoke to or contacted the insurance.
  22. Nana, fear is nothing more than - not knowing what lies ahead - . Read this forum, gain the information....apply it to your recovery and you will be aware of what to expect and how to deal with it. Nothing to fear. Relax, you will do just fine.
  23. You're gonna get weird unexpected aches and pains that you've never felt before the surgery. It is most likely just the body healing and getting used to all the re-arranging that has taken place. I spent two hours on the net the other day researching a pain in my chest that worried me, only to conclude it was probably some sort of traveling gas. It went away and so did my concern. I have muscles that are sore now from past lack of use. My sleeping schedule is out of wack. But I'm losing, so who cares. It'll work itself out eventually. All is good.
