Hello everyone...
I'm really happy to be here. I love reading all of your stories and already feel as if I'm a part of the family. :)
I began my journey in October 2013, when I participated in the new patient seminar. Shortly thereafter, I attended the exercise and nutrition class. In December 2013, I met with my surgeon and attended my first support group. My insurance requires a 6 month medically supervised weight loss program, so as instructed, I began my weight loss journey on January 1, 2014.
first, a little back story...

For several years, I ate fast food at least 2 times a day. every day. I also had a very committed relationship with carbohydrates (comfort foods), sweets and soda. I was an emotional eater. I went through the death of a child and a very sad divorce, all in the same year. so yes, I fed my feelings. This was 7 years ago. It has been a very long journey, and I have come a long way. I have been on anti-depressants and anxiety medication for years and 2 years ago, was put on BP meds.

I am 5'1" and my starting (and highest) weight was 273.5
My first weigh in was on 1/24/14, 24 days after I started my diet, and I weighed in at 263 (10.5 lbs. weight loss). I had my Upper GI on 1/31/14 and my Endoscopy on 2/7/14. on that day I weighed in at 255.7. Total weight loss so far =17.8 lbs.
It's amazing what giving up fast food, all soda, all caffeine, all sugar and 99% of carbs will do :)

I'm looking forward to continuing my journey with the help of my new friends that I've found on this site.
