Got my bloods did.
Lots of facial hair....you must be Italian (not "eye-talian" as some people say)! LOL! What's so funny about growing your own food supply? I could make a meal out of my teenaged son sometimes! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been lurking for months...guess I will introduce myself
Hi Alisonsim! Just wanted to welcome you! I'm new too here, so I have no advice but wanted to say **HI**! Spatters "de-lurking" comment crack me up! I agree....congrats on the de-lurking as well! LOL! If everyone "lurked" we wouldn't get any good info that is good to share! I've learned more here than any meeting I've gone to so far! Hope to see you around more often!

LIVE from Mi Hospital with Dr. Garcia NOW!
Hi LaserSkinGirl! Wishing you a speedy recovery! You could be all finished by now! Funny, I just looked at your profile & saw you live in the city we want to relocate to in FL! LOL! Thank you for the pics, I'm sure that makes a lot of people who are considering going down there, more at ease. I hope all goes well & that you'll be posting again in no time about how your procedure went & that you're feeling great! God bless!

6 Month Post Op High Glucose and Insulin Tolerance Levels :(
I'm Type 2 & my doctor told me to stop my Glumetza (easier on tummy than Metformin) the day I start my liquid diet & that I probably won't need my meds anymore since it's all diet relate. Altho, even tho my AC1 (or is that the AC10??) always tested below 6 except for the first 2 times (2 years ago), he wouldn't take me off the meds until I lost at least 25 lbs. My last test was Friday & I tested at 5.9 but I have cut out breads, Pasta, what very little sweets I ate, & eat 5 small meals per day....so hoping that it will cure my diabetes cause even with insurance, the cost of the Glumetza is KILLING us financially! Susie in Lima, I hope there's a mistake but if not, then just take the punches. At least you're in a much healthier state than you were before. Easy for me to say, right? But really, maybe adding more exercise can bring your sugar down ? I've heard that works for HBP as well as Diabetes. I know how disappointed you must be. I'm so sorry. Wishing you health & happiness!

cheated!
At the rate you're losing weight Annabelle, you may be at goal BEFORE your surgery! You're doing wonderfully!! I'm soooooooooooo envious!

on my way!
I hope you make it on the plane! I'd probably fall dead asleep after all you took! LOL! Wishing you a safe trip & a speedy recovery! Please continue to let us know how you're doing!

Sippy cup? Yes/no?
If it's like drinking thru a straw effect, then I don't know if it's good? Who knows? I'm just saying that because my Bari nurse said not to drink out of a straw because it allows air to get into your tummy & they want you to reserve all that room for liquids. I like the idea of portioning your liquid meals for the day in those to keep them cold in 3 separate sippy cups!

cheated!
There will be **NO** bacon cooking in my house from now on out. In fact, I made Breakfast for dinner a few nights ago as a "see ya" type meal for me & my family! LOL! I'm not suffering alone in this....no way! I hope I get used to the idea fast that I'm on liquids only. I'm just hoping that they will make me feel full enough that I won't want to cheat & eat food! Love your idea of picturing yourself on a beach in a bikini ~ running. I'd have to do the same, altho I'd have to be running after Jon Bon Jovi & I'd have to catch him in my day dreams for it to have any affect on me! Your boss/chef sounds like a wonderful person! You're a lucky girl! I hope I'll be cranky so all will be normal at home , this way my family won't know that I have something up my sleeve (pardon the pun), since I'm not planning on telling my kids about the sleeve. Well, I may change my mind just before but don't want them freaking out already. I don't even have a surgery date yet.

Day 6 Post Op on Full Liquids and cannot do dairy...HELP! I'm starving!
Oh man, I just read thru that link...you have WAY more patience than I do! God bless you for doing all that instead of just picking up some yogurt from the store!

Where and how much did you pay?
I have Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance & it's a covered benefit (thank heavens!) I am responsible for my $25 co-pays for each doc visit & I have a hospital deductible. Since I still hadn't met my annual deductible, the absolute most I'll have out of pocket is $1000 (which includes the co-pays related to this WLS program.) My surgery will cost $19,000 to $20,000 & that doesn't include all the visits I'm making to diff docs & the psych eval, etc...so again, thank heavens for insurance! So happy my husband didn't listen to me when I asked him to leave his job at Blue Cross to work for one of the car industries considering how that all worked out! I think it's wonderful tho that there is the option of having this type of surgery in Mexico for at least half the cost or less!

Buying a suit at Macy's today..NSV
That is such wonderful news! I can't wait till I can one day shop at Macy's again (altho I'm sure my husband isn't quite as excited about that! LOL!) Unfortunately, they don't carry tents, so I haven't shopped there in years! I hope you enjoy your shopping trip! Can't wait to see a pic of your final decision on which suit!! I love a man in a suit! God Bless you!!!

Caffiene
My Bari nurse said NO CAFFEINE. So I can have decaf but I hate decaf. This is going to be the hardest part for me. Yesterday she said the reason why is that it will dehydrate you so for every cup you have, you have to drink an additional bottle of Water to hydrate you again. If I can drink all that, then I'm going back to drinking my one cup per morning...but not for quite a while. I think she said maybe 6 months down the road (I may DIE of withdrawl by then!) Wishing you the best. I know how difficult it will be for me to give up coffee, but I must.

Sleeved
Hi JC, when did you have your surgery? What's that stuff they made you drink? Did you have an upper GI or something? So glad everything went well! I know what you mean, many times I thought of backing out but then I come here & hear positive stories & see pics of weight loss & it gives me courage again. **Note to self: Do NOT read the "Complications" thread ever again!** Good luck to you. Please post about your healing process & your progress!

New to the wall
I know! It's crazy to punish me that long for heaven's sake! I'm a stay at home Mom but I would still have to take my oldest to work. I'm hoping for summer surgery & if it is in the summer, then my son's work schedule changes & instead of just weekends, he'll be working weekdays. But hopefully if I'm not on pain meds, I can convince my doc otherwise?
