So I go into my NUTs office today...
That's really wonderful news!! Very inspiring! I have to say, the way your title went "So I go into my NUTs office today...." and I thought I was going to read a stand up comedy routine! LOL!! You know, like "A Nun walked into a bar and....." HAHAHAHA!!!

New to the wall
Wow!! Really?? The doc I saw today for medical clearance told me I can't drive for 4 to 6 weeks after surgery! I'm already stressing because if my teen son doesn't get his license early enough this summer, I don't know how he'll get to work! BTW, sorry Nakole, didn't mean to high jack your thread, I was just shocked to see the diff in what docs order for post op driving! That's quite a difference! Anyway, just wanted to welcome you here. I'm new too even tho you wouldn't know it by the amount of posts I already logged in since joining last week! LOL!

Insurance!
Congratulations on getting the insurance approval!

Pre-Op Doc appt today!
I know....seems like the weight loss surgery program should all be run the same way but it really is diff from person to person who post here! Some people have to do the liquid diet longer than others or get introduced to soft foods sooner, or have more hoops to jump to have surgery. Just crazy!

Pre-Op Doc appt today!
Wishing you lots of luck too Truckerchic! You're halfway there!

Pre-Op Doc appt today!
Thank you Iniysa! I'm not in any hurry to go on a liquid diet just yet...altho maybe I should try it to prepare myself for the week prior to surgery, as I'll have to be on a liquid diet the entire week before. I just don't know how I'm going to do that! Sounds like all my appts are backwards from most people? Wonder if it's because of different insurances? I don't need approval from insurance, it's a covered benefit. I'm just making appts & trying to hit all my targets so that I can be considered for summer surgery. Hate that it could happen when my teen son turns 18 but hopefully he'll have a healthy & thinner Mama for his graduation the following summer! Who orders the endoscopy? Gallbladder U.S.? I thought the doc I saw today would order that stuff but he didn't. He only ordered a chemical stress test for me? Maybe once I meet with my surgeon, he'll order that stuff? Hmmmm? I'm happy to hear that things are moving along for you as well! Are you excited, nervous? All of the above? LOL!

Despite my leak/complications I am doing it! Photo update
Have Mercy!!! Just look at you!!! What a difference a sleeve makes!!! I haven't read about your complications, I will have to find them somehow as I want to read it all (the good, bad, ugly). I'm sorry you had complications, I'm assuming all is okay now? Sure hope so! You're well on your way to remembering your "before" pics as only a distant memory! So very happy for you!

Pre-Op Doc appt today!
Had my pre-op doc appt today with the doc who will be giving me medical clearance for the surgery. Even tho I had my blood work done last week, he still didn't have the results. He said he would call for them today. He never mentioned anything about a scope (thank heavens) but he does want me to have a "chemical stress test." As long as that comes back fine, then I'll be ready to go on to the next step (which I'm all confused as to what comes next???) He said if that doesn't come back fine, then they'll have to work on getting my heart healthy before making the rest of me healthy. The bad part was that I'm supposed to be losing weight (Bari nurse said a minimum of 15 lbs) & I weighed the same today as I did a week ago today but I had an appt with my PCP on Friday & I was down 4 lbs in his office. Obviously scales make a diff. I need to work harder. I'm really hoping for summer surgery. Anyway, just wanted to share that I jumped thru yet another hoop!!!

Dr. Arthur Carlin, Henry Ford Hospital Detroit, Mi
Oh you poor thing....that's what I'm so nervous about!!! I was hoping those Protein Drinks kept you full but I guess not, huh? I'll still have to prepare meals for my husband & kids....I really don't know how I'm going to do that! Which protein drinks are you having? I bought a couple of packages of Muscle Milk in preparation & put them aside, especially since it will be tough to spend extra money from our grocery budget on protein drinks or whatever I need to drink. So each paycheck, I buy a couple things & put aside. I opened one container of the vanilla flavored Muscle Milk to taste it & while it's okay, it's just super super sweet! I only took a sip so not sure I can drink the entire 11 oz container. The next week, I found a "Lite" version of Muscle Milk in coffee Flavor (hot dang!!!), so I bought 2 of those. I've never had a Protein Drink so not sure which one I'll like. Good luck to you Cameron69! I hope everything goes well for you!

Dr. Arthur Carlin, Henry Ford Hospital Detroit, Mi
So glad to finally see a posting from my neck of the woods! I too will be going thru Henry Ford! I have to be honest & say I'm not thrilled I have to go downtown but thankfully just about the rest of the program requirements are at the Clinton Twp facility! You're doing wonderful on your weight loss! Can't wait till I can post something like that! Regarding doctors, I'm not sure if I'm getting Dr. Genaw or Dr. Carlin? I think I will have Dr. Genaw tho. They are associates. Thanks so much for posting!

cheated!
I'm worried about the same thing. I really don't know how I'm going to get thru the pre-op liquid diet. I'm going to be hungry & I like the feeling of being hungry about as much as the feeling of cutting my right arm off with a butter knife! Thankfully, your doc did say "tomorrow" so maybe tomorrow you can be more prepared? I don't know how especially since you work for a catering company but I'll still have to cook for my husband & kids, so we'll just have to figure it out. I keep trying to tell myself this will all be worth it to me, but who knows till the day I'm only on liquids, how I will react. I may be contacting your chef for a chicken dish too!

Silly question....
Well, I have no clue, but it's very nice! That's why I wondered? If my new "friend" is reading, I just want to say HI! **waving**

What's for dinner tonight?
Thank you! I've never tried powdered potatoes but sounds quick & easy! I love ricotta cheese!
-
What's for dinner tonight?
How did you make that? Did you make regular mashed potatoes (with milk, butter) & then added ricotta or you added ricotta instead of milk/butter? As Ricky Ricardo would have said 'splain Lucy! Thank you! How did it go eating it?
-
Silly question....
What does it mean when a fellow poster became my friend? I like friends! Can you explain the purpose to that? Does it mean they can follow my posts or what? I don't have a clue! With all that said ~ I'm honored that someone who posts so sweetly wanted to be my friend! Thank you!

Liquid Diet Questions
Really??? I've been freaking out thinking about when I have to do my one week liquid diet prior to surgery & how am I going to cook for my family & smell food? I get HUNGRY even eating breakfast/lunch/dinner & a snack around 3-ish! So does the liquid Protein stuff fill you up? Is that what you're drinking?
-
In disbelief.....
Oh that's me too!!! I have been feeling really excited & then I did a very stupid thing....I went to read the "complications" thread. O. M. Heavens, what am I about to do????

Eating "Normal" 10 months post op
That makes me happy! Thank you for sharing! I may have my surgery June/July & we're going to Disney World, Dec 18th for 10 days. I keep wondering what I will be eating by then?? Regular (limited) foods, or am I still going to be eating mush?
-
Coffee?
I'm interested in knowing the answer to your question too. I think that will be the absolute hardest thing for me to give up.

Pet Peeve
You literally made me laugh out loud at your remark & the mental visual! Thank you!

So that is how jeans are supposed to fit! *pic*
**whistles** You look great!! You always did have a handsome face (from before & after pics, not that we know each other ~ haha), but now you have a great bod too! You must be so proud of yourself!! I know I would be! I have heard that tummy tucks are very painful....so you're obviously very brave too!

50lbs Between 2wk Pre Op and 2wks Post... Now NOTHING
I'm probably the last one who should be responding but I have read (I think it was here too somewhere) that the body just stalls losing weight for a bit because it's re-accessing what's happening to it. Once it realizes what's going on, your weight starts dropping again. So just keep doing what you're doing & find other ways to see your success, like in other things you are able to do now or maybe you're losing inches. I forget what initials they use in calling that?? I'm sorry but I know what I'm trying to say, it just isn't coming out right! LOL! Maybe someone can help me? I do want to emphasize that you're doing great as long as you're following whatever the doc told you to do. How can you fail? It's not possible. Just give yourself a bit of time & you'll see your weight start dropping again. Also, after surgery when I get to this point....please copy & paste this post in my thread too, okay? Wishing you the best! Hang in there!

In disbelief.....
Gotcha! Thank you! (Thank your grandma for me too!) Okay, so some insurances need to have approvals then...I didn't know that since my insurance has the WLS as a covered benefit. Well then I'm jumping up & down (NO IT'S NOT AN EARTHQUAKE) for joy for you!!! Good luck in the coming events!!
