  1. Sorry, I meant a support group, not group therapy! LOL! I will be joing!
  2. Thank you for your encouragement sastexan! Lord knows what that psych will pull out of me! I have lots of baggage in my head & heart! I did ask about group therapy & they do have that in the program I chose, so I'm sure I'll be going! Good luck to you too!
  3. Thanks ladies! I just knew it was going to be a problem. So I suppose those protein drinks don't make you feel full (pre-surgery liquid diet)? Ohhhhh mannn....I'm in B.I.G. trouble!!!
  4. Pantala, your response cracked me up!
  5. Thanks abetterme4.2! I'm setting myself up, aren't I? Altho, I meant pre-surgery liquid diet? I'm hoping after surgery, I won't care what I'm cooking but before surgery....you know, when I'll be hungry & then get to drink a protein drink or water instead of chomping down on real food? I'll have to be on liquids for a week & then clear liquids the day prior to surgery. Wish we had the $$$ to tell them to go out to dinner each night! Haha!
  6. How do you cope with cooking for your family especially while only on liquids? I've just started the process & am nervous about when it's time to go on liquids. I don't have a surgery date yet. How will I cook for my family & then just sit & drink my dinner? Please tell me how you handled this?
  7. Hi sastexan4u! Seems this thread has been dormant since Sept, so it was nice to see another fabulous 50 something person posting! Since I went to the WLS seminar, I felt I was the oldest person considering this procedure! I'm 53 & have just gotten started. I will be doing my blood work this Saturday & Monday is my psych eval. How are you doing since your surgery? I'm not going to lie, I'm scared....
  8. I'm so afraid I'm going to mourn food too.... waaaaahhhhhh......
  9. Thank you joatsaint! Maybe I just haven't gotten as far yet for them to have mentioned it? Thanks for making it sound not so scary!
  10. Endoscopy? No one has mentioned that to me? I have my psych appt on Monday, my fitness appt next month & hopefully doing my EKG on Friday & blood work on Saturday. They won't let me schedule my appt with the NUT & doc for medical clearance until I have my blood work done. Good luck to you abbygirl!
  11. I'm dying to know the answer to this too! Coffee is going to be one of the absolute hardest things I will have to give up. Are you talking regular or decaf? I hate decaf but I guess it will be better than no coffee at all. I have a pantry full of Gevalia too! I'm sick just thinking about it.
  12. Holy moley! What a difference!!! You look fabulous! Ughhh.....lots & lots of pain? You mean healing?
  13. Hi Terryg! Judging by your pic, you look no where near your age! So happy to hear all has gone pretty well for you. Maybe there's hope for me! I do worry about looking older after a significant weight loss since right now my fat is stretching my skin, making it look nice & tight but after, it will be hanging there & will display more wrinkles. Well, I guess that's the price to pay for a thinner body! I just hope I won't look too much older than my husband, since he's already nearly 10 years my junior! Nice to meet you too! Thank you for responding!
  14. Sorry that happened to you. I'm worried about food coming up too! May I ask, why did you only have the egg what? I'm pre-surgery....so just wondering, are we not allowed to eat the yolk too or is it too hard to digest at first?
  15. Hi imdeborah, Nice to meet you! Yeah, I guess you're right. I don't know of anyone who has looked forward to surgery! Haha! I see you're on day 3 of the pre-op diet. Does that mean you're on liquids already? I so worry about that too! Hope I won't want to eat any of my kids! EEK!
  16. It's always best to check with your doctor but I know that when I was gaining weight fast or losing it fast, it would affect my cycle. It would either be thrown off for a few days or I'd skip a cycle all together. Once my eating habit was back to normal (whatever normal was to me), then it would go back to its regularly scheduled program....so to speak. Good luck to you!
  17. Thank you takroom! I appreciate the welcome. Yes, there is something you can do for me....please take my fear away!
  18. WOW! 25 lbs in 3 weeks??!! That's awesome! Would you have been able to do that without surgery? I know I couldn't! I would say to just take one day at a time & believe you will be healthy soon! Everyone loses weight at different rates of speed, even when people join WW together. I always lost more than my friend but that was because I was way bigger than her! Good luck to you!
  19. Hi Everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself as "Pixie Dust." I just attended my first seminar in making a decision which WLS is best for me. I have decided on the Sleeve. I had a one-on-one with a Bariatric Nurse yesterday & have an appt with my family doc on Friday (to renew my meds), so will bring the blood work order I received from the nurse, to see if my doc would like to add anything else to it, since he sends me every 6 months for lab work. Then hopefully have my blood work done on Saturday morn. Monday I go for my psych eval...it was just moved up from from a month from now, since I've made it clear that I need my surgery sometime in the summer time due to my children's school schedule. If I can't have surgery this summer, either I will go to another hospital in search of a summer appt or wait till the following summer. Please wish me luck.! Next month I have an appt with a physical therapist to show me which exercises I can do safely due to my knee being bone on bone & needs to be replaced (but holding off as long as I can!) I've been overweight most of my life, but not morbidly obese like I am now. In my early 30's I lost about 100 lbs on WW, which made me feel great & look great. Unfortunately, over the years, I've added almost the entire amount back. I have tried to diet but it's so much harder to lose weight the older you get & I'm done with the struggle. I suppose after surgery, I'll have a different type of struggle, like trying to figure out what I can eat safely & trying to stick with healthy foods. My child with autism keeps begging me to lose weight so I won't die. How about that for a reality check? So I have no choice but to do this. I won't lie, I'm very scared regarding the surgery. I'm scared if I will feel a lot of pain, if I end up with a blood clot, if I can't cope with my lifestyle change. What will I do as I'm an emotional eater? How will it feel cooking for my family when I can't eat (I'm thinking liquid diet here, let alone post surgery!) ? Are these normal fears? Am I even too old to do this?? I'm in my early 50's. I've also wondered "why didn't I do this sooner" as I see pics of people on this site who have had the surgery done. Will I have regrets for any reason? Guess that about sums me up! If anyone has any advice, please share it with me! ~ Peace
  20. Could be each psych does their evaluation differently too?
  21. I don't know how I'm going to live without ibuprofen. I suffer so much arthritis pain & I need a knee replacement (but holding off as long as possible.) I pop those babies every day just so I can walk like someone my age & not a 90 y/o.
  22. I'm so excited for you! Hope all will go well & there will be minimal discomfort!
  23. What does that mean slimjim41? How do you be someone's sleeve buddy? (Can you tell I'm new here??)
  24. I just signed up here because I'm just starting the process, but wanted to say how very sorry I am. I just know how very disappointed I would be too if I get denied. I don't think I will since I've already been checking into to & called the insurance company myself. Do you know why you were rejected? Maybe it's a simple thing that can be straightened out? In any case, I wish you the best. Please don't give up if this is something you really want.
