Not Applicable got a reaction from taylokat in Ideas for what to tell people?
The question: what to tell people.
I decided not to tell my co-workers because I know they look down on fat people, WLS in general, and are huge gossips. When asked about my time off I said I was "having a procedure done," and did not elaborate. One co-worker asked me if it was serious, and all I said was ,"it can be, but I pray I'll be just fine."
I have 1 co-worker who constantly asks me (at least 3 times p/week) how much I've lost. I always respond "a bit." It seems to drive her crazy that I won't provide actual numbers . I have said, "you know, I really don't want to discuss it, it's personal" but she continues to interrogate me. She is a Huge office gossip and I know she is just asking for dirt not concern, (she has told me she is a size 4/6 so it's not like educating her on my WLS would help with her journey)...
I guess my point is even with the best intentions sometimes I am forced to evade the truth. Does that make me a liar... Probably. And I'm fine with that.

Wow! I guess I had not seen any "before" pics of you and just assumed that you didn't have a lot of weight to lose (my hubby 2 years sleeved only lost about 65-70lbs and looks great where he is even though he "says" he wants to lose another -15) so I just kind of assumed that maybe you were in the same boat.
TOTALLY wrong assumption. Holy cow you are bonafide sleeve Rock Star! Congrats.
(also super-jealous of the skin just bouncin' back into place....but glad for YOU!)

Here are some before and after photos of me.
    Before (10-2011): 360 lb
    In Rome near the Colosseum.
    Surgery date (07-02-2012): 335 lb
I started to lose weight in may 2012, 2 months before surgery.
    After (05-24-2013): 188 lb
At home in the back yard.
My lowest was 177 lb in February 2013. I have gained about 10 lb of lean muscle since then. "After" is still a work in progress as I am working on strength training over the summer months. No lose skin except for a little around the front of the stomach. It will probably go away by end of this summer.

Just wanted to say I have chosen not to repost my pic because I received some unwanted sexually suggestive PM's when my pic was posted. I did not take take down my pic due to a privacy issue. IMHO you can never know someone's motivation unless they share it with you.

This is a frightening thing for us to go through. We are warned about the Hair loss in the beginning but when it happens, we all get freaked out. The good news is, your on the way to a healthier lifestyle with many extra benefits to come. Your hair for your finest asset and will be again bc it does grow back rather rapidly too......Gosh, my Hair growth drives me crazy because I have to die it more often because of the rapid hair growth.....And I am pretty close to my goal (personal) I've already made my Dr's goal. I love my body image and size now too..... I'm 5'6" and I weight in at 145 at the present moment.... Yep, this is fabulous so I hope you can get a smile and see how wonderful life is going to be.......

I feel you. We had surgery about a week apart and I am also losing hair.
I have always had long, thick, curly hair. In high school they called me "curly sue." (Hence my name on this forum).... I (& others) always said my hair was my best feature, it's what I've been known for, so it's sad to see it go. And yes, I knew it would happen, just hoped it wouldn't be so bad...
I guess my words aren't much of a "pick me up," sorry! I just wanted you to know you are not alone.

I am so sorry you ladies are feeling this way.
I know this is a cliche but try talking to your surgeon or nut regarding how you are feeling. It sounds like a vicious circle: you can't eat or drink so you feel low energy and depressed which just makes you lethargic, making if harder to get up, eat & drink, and Live well. Something has got to end this unfortunate pattern for you. I'm hoping their help will do that.
Anyway, my heart is with you. I'm glad you reached out. We are all here to help in whatever way we can.

    Actingnurse,
I love you dude. But I gotta tell you when you find the right girl, you will know why!
Marriage when entered into with with a loving commitment is a wonderful thing!
Yes I got upset the other day, but we are committed to love and respect each other and we are so lucky to have this person at our side as we go through all of life's changes!
It's really a great concept if you think about it, I think its so cool to live side by side and experience life with another person up until the end
Yes I know I threw a napkin but that was a baby tantrum because I wanted to cheat (myself)
