I know that GNC will take opened packages back if you don't like them. I think Syntrax and Unjury will also within a certain time frame. I know it sucks to keep buying!

So sorry! I know how hard it is to lose weight with PCOS! I've had to do a 2 week liquid pre op diet and I've lost close to 20 lbs. 60-80 g of Protein Shakes, broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles is all I've lived on! It's hard, but doable!!!

As some of you may have read in one of my other posts, my weight stabilized at 155 lbs 13 months post-op and that became my "official" maintenance weight goal. I say "official" because my "working" goal is really a window between 153 and 156 lbs. I'm a little more sensitive (OK paranoid - Lol) about going over my goal than falling below it. Fluctuations in your weight are a normal part of life and a fun part as well. Special occasions, dinners for two, family get-togethers with the world's cutest grandson, holidays - all usually result in an increased calorie count.
So I jump on the scales this morning and was a little surprised to see that I was 151.2 lbs. Not that long ago, an unexpected weight loss was the stuff that really put the zippity in my do-da! But when your goal is to maintain your weight, I believe that it's important to take action for losses, as well as gains.
So now that the stage is set, some of you may have noticed that I am a big proponent of food logs. So it occurred to me this morning that I have an opportunity to share with you guys a real-life example of how I use my log. There are a number of good apps but My Fitness Pal seems to be the most popular on this forum and is the one that I have used for about the last six months. I intentionally altered the MFP settings until it gave me a daily calorie goal of 1620 calories.
So this morning I'm at 151.2. I want to be at a minimum of 153. So I want to gain (how weird is that?) somewhere between 1.8 and 3.8 lbs - putting my weight back in my window between 153 and 155. So my plan for today is to try to hit a calorie count somewhere in the 1700-1800 range. Not an earth shattering change, just a minor adjustment. I'm not actually changing my settings in MFP. It would be more trouble than it's worth since I'm confident the increased calorie goal will be needed for only a day or two.
Will he make it?? Can it be that simple?? Place your bets!
I'll keep you posted with daily updates on my progress!!

My surgeon says no ice for at least 6 months after surgery??? What am I going to do without ice??? I forgot to ask why last week at my appt. I feel silly calling and bothering them to ask that. Does anyone know why?

Well, I am sitting here at the hospital getting all of my pre-admission testing done. It's all just getting so much more real for me! Surgery is on August 8th. Eeeeeeek! And according to the dr. I've lost 7 lbs already. And I still have 9 more days on this liquid diet. So I'll be losing more before surgery. I'm so excited and nervous too!

Crkrjax76 reacted to zuzuspetals in I dont get pre-op sleep study!?!
I would INSIST on a sleep study. If in fact you do have apnea, it won't be 'cured' overnight by surgery. Plus do you realize what kind of damage you are doing to your brain by e lack of oxygen each night? Not to mention that during and after surgery, people with apnea have to have special care taken with their heart and breathing ... I had special monitors and my whole team took special care with regard to my anesthesia and pain meds and my breathing.
Please, insist on it, and advocate for yourself. The CPAP is not an extra burden, it's a lifesaver!

The nurse told me I would have the catheter until the following day. I will be in the hospital for 3 days, the first night in ICU. That's just my surgeon's preference. He puts everybody in ICU the first night.

Crkrjax76 reacted to music1618 in how to answer questions from family
My mom was supportive, but would ask questions to make me think hard about my decision. She finally asked why now. I had been thinking about it for years and she wanted to know why had I decided I was ready for it. It was a simple answer. I was ready because I could no longer clean personal areas in the shower. That was my breaking point. From then on she stopped asking questions. As for telling other people - I have been open and honest about my surgery. I wanted to spread the good news - I made a choice to live not die miserable. However it is a very personal choice - tell or don't tell.

In exactly two weeks to the hour, my life will change!!! I'm getting so nervous and excited and scared and happy and sad and crazy all at the same time. Anybody else feel that way??? I meet with the surgeon tomorrow and will start my 2 week liquid diet in the morning. I've got all my questions ready for him, I think...I'm going to ask about my cpap machine, gas x strips, visitors age (I have a 6 year old who will be devestated if he can't come see mom), what meds I need to bring to the hospital, do they expect someone to stay with me overnight...anything else I should be asking?
