  1. It's a little frustrating - I hardly ever had issues with heartburn presurgery but now it's pretty frequent. I started taking my Lansoprazole again but it's not helping much. Tums seems to help most of the time, but I'd rather not rely on them. I *STILL* don't regret the surgery tho - I like getting full eating less than a girl!
  2. I tried my first Quest Protein Bar today because of this thread and I gotta say they're my favorite so far. I got the Peanut Butter and chocolate at a nearby GNC but could only finish half of it. I like the flavor and I'm okay that it doesn't taste overly sweet. Will probably try that apple pie next.
  3. My anesthesiologist said he would give me something to make me relax. He must have injected it into my IV because one minute I'm talking to the surgical nurses and the next thing I'm in the recovery room.
  4. As I recall, they would have been okay with it but I didn't want her there having to sleep on a poor excuse for a recliner and getting awakened every time they came in to check on me. I sent her home and asked her to wait to hear from me the next day so we could figure out what time she could either come visit (or preferably pick me up and take me home!). I was asked if I wanted a shower the next day and I declined (yeah, I know, gross). Being the overthinker that I am, I couldn't fathom taking a shower with the IV stand and bag and that medicine ball hanging from my neck. FWIW, something leaked onto my hospital gown and they found me another one. The nurse had me stand up and she changed me. I'm sure she's seen 1000 other naked patients but still, it was a little unnerving!
  5. I thought we were buddies. My new friend Nellabella knows who I am.
  6. Oh stop - I didn't take what you said as disrespect and I was just being silly. I posted that knowing it wasn't the healthiest and just as I had predicted to myself, someone came along with an idea to make it healthier (Molly in this case). Thank you for your comments and concern, I do appreciate it! We're good!
  7. How long have you been on your liquid diet?
  8. Yeah but Molly said... Whatever the heck YOU want...It's your pizza! ...and who am I to argue with Molly?
  9. Um, no ma'am - you don't get to drop a "I usually make the cauliflower crust" in my thread and just leave! Recipe please?
  10. Just found this on Facebook. Haven't tried it yet, but what do you think? Crust 1 (8 oz) package of full fat cream cheese, room temperature 2 eggs 1/4 tsp ground black pepper 1 tsp garlic powder 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese Topping 1/2 cup pizza sauce 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese toppings - pepperoni, ham, sausage, mushrooms, peppers Garlic powder Preheat oven to 350. Lightly spay a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray. With a handheld mixer, mix cream cheese, eggs, pepper, garlic powder and parmesan cheese until combined. Spread into baking dish. Bake for 12-15 minutes, our until golden brown. Allow crust to cool for 10 minutes. Spread pizza sauce on crust. Top with cheese and toppings. Sprinkle pizza with garlic powder. Bake 8-10 minutes, until cheese is melted. For more healthy recipes, tips, motivation and fun, join us here: Weightloss With Us

  12. You're probably going to get some great advice from the others but here's a thought: why not go back and try some of the foods you may have tried earlier that you didn't tolerate well back then?

  17. Thanks for posting this. The video that person mentions is here
  18. An incentive spirometer is a medical device used to help patients improve the functioning of their lungs. It is provided to patients who have had any surgery that might jeopardize respiratory function, particularly surgery to the lungs themselves,[1] but also commonly to patients recovering from cardiac or other surgery involving extended time under anesthesia and prolonged in-bed recovery. The incentive spirometer is also issued to patients recovering from rib damage to help minimize the chance of Fluid build-up in the lungs. It can be used as well by wind instrument players, who want to improve their air flow. The patient breathes in from the device as slowly and as deeply as possible, then holds his/her breath for 2-6 seconds. This provides back pressure which pops open alveoli. It is the same maneuver in a yawn. An indicator provides a gauge of how well the patient's lung or lungs are functioning, by indicating sustained inhalation vacuum. The patient is generally asked to do many repetitions a day while measuring his or her progress by way of the gauge. On the right-hand side there is a tube with a mouthpiece that flips down. You have to inhale through the tube until that blue disk at the bottom reaches a preset determined at the hospital. You're supposed to inhale at a rate that keeps the little blue bead between the two arrows. It's quite the task.
  19. I'd start the day with a Protein drink. I would sip (not drink not gulp) on it until it was finished. I was able to get more in faster as the days went by. Then I got my bottle of Water, my 1oz shot glass, and the log they gave me to fill out. The log has the time on it in 15 minute increments so I would do half a shot and check it off on the log. I also did my incentive spirometer 5 times on the hour and half hour. It took effort and time. I'd also get up and walk as often as I could remember.
  20. I never really had issues getting enough fluids after surgery so I went straight for my quad espresso at work. Sleevie Ray Vaughn did not like that much at one time so we've agreed that doubles were okay - again only because I get enough fluids in per day.
  21. I'm a fan of Syntrax Nectar (the fruity flavors) - I like them because I can mix them with Water. My favorite is GNC Wheybolic Extreme 60 chocolate - I mix it with fat-free milk but it's the only brand of chocolate that is okay with water. I also like
  22. Happy Birthday to you, sorry you're having to spend it there. It'll all get better, you'll see.
  23. Somehow I thought you'd say something like this and I'm glad you did. I'll keep what you said in mind. What did you encounter that made you believe the numbers above for men?
  24. Sleeved May 28 here. I am supposed to be on soft foods right now - mostly it's chili, refried Beans, and (still) lots of Protein shakes (they're so convenient). Seem to do okay with bananas, but only a half at a time. I've also had egg salad, chicken salad, and some egg salad avocado smush (recipe that someone here posted). I made a scrambled egg the second day of soft foods and made the mistake of eating the entire egg - it hurt. Later, I tried lentil Soup and didn't stop at half a cup like I should have - it hurt worse than the egg. Sleevie Ray Vaughn also reminded me that Trisquits, no matter how well chewed, are not soft food by keeping me bent over in pain for the better part of an hour. My surgeon said I could have tilapia so the other night at Applebees I did. I could only finish half of the tilapia but none of the veggies or the roasted potatoes. We went to a Mexican restaurant before that and I had the inside of a soft taco (barbacoa) and about a spoonful of beans and that's all I could handle. Forget the rice, I gave that to my wife.
