  1. You should read this: The pre-op diet is NOT a punishment ... it's an opportunity. All of us who went through the two-week preop diet experienced this. Thankfully, it only lasts about 4 days. After that you'll be amazed at how well you feel considering how little you're eating. Don't cheat - it will either prolong how long you have to deal with it or bring the headaches, weakness, and hunger pangs back. Hang in there - this is a good thing!

  3. What is the difference in time between the pic that is tilted and the two you posted above?
  4. Same here, followed closely by the Fuzzy Navel
  5. Nothing over 15lbs for the first two weeks, nothing over 30lbs for the next two.
  6. Well done - keep up the good work!
  7. I was prescribed a bottle of liquid hydrocodone to take every 6 hours as needed and I did. By the time I ran out I was able to take liquid Tylenol and that worked fine for a couple days until I needed nothing. Don't be ashamed or afraid to ask for a refill on pain meds. Everyone experiences pain differently.
  8. If I did the math correctly, 2.99oz is a little over 3 scoops which the instructions say to mix with 12oz of liquid. Since it's a sample, go ahead and try it that way. With the bag or the tub, I do 2 scoops to 8oz of liquid instead of the 3 scoops and 12oz liquid. Which unflavored did you get? With the
  9. Can you go get yourself some Isopure?
  10. Only about two more days to go before the hunger, weakness, and headaches go away. You'll feel as well as you did before the diet and be amazed at how well you do on how little you're consuming.
  11. This may be a stupid question, but how much peanut butter are y'all able to eat at one time?
  12. Someone around here way smarter than me once said they added Crystal Light (or was it Mio) to their water not so much for taste, but to make it easier to drink. Have you tried it?
  13. Not trying to give you a hard time here, but you might want to call your surgeon and discuss your postop diet. I believe most people are supposed to be having Protein shakes, strained soups, and other full liquids but certainly not beans of any sort at one week out. Also, you're not supposed to be drinking anything, you're supposed to be sipping. This will help with the pain in your stomach until you are able to drink. I could only do half an ounce the first few days,
  14. Caitlin, what is it exactly you're trying to eat at this point?
  15. That couldn't have been mine, I'd never charge you for it.
  16. For my two week preop diet, I have to buy two bags of Bariatric Advantage brand shakes (my choice of flavors). I was told to have 5 shakes a day and could have low-sodium broth if things got tough. The day before surgery, clear liquids only (Isopure, Crystal light with Protein powder, etc.)
  17. Welcome! We'll be happy to be your family, but know that we have our share of dysfunction as well!
  18. Gee thanks - now I have to deal with this man-crush I now have on you after reading all that! Seriously though, as a fat guy I got used to keep my head down as sort of a defense mechanism. I hope my confidence grows as yours has so I can see what I've been missing.
  19. I believe the words I used were "wanna play doctor?"
  20. <disclaimer> I am not a doctor, I don't play one on TV, nor do I have enough of the correct letters in my name to spell "doctor"</disclaimer> Maybe you're brushing your teeth too much?
  21. Okay you do not brush 10-15 times per day.
  22. You probably could have it up until the day before. On top of the normal aches and pains that come with this surgery, you want to deal with a caffeine headache as well? Life is much simpler when you follow your docs rules.
