Would love to chat with someone who has list 200 plus pounds to lose or has lost 200 plus pounds
I started at 416lbs and really didn't do much of anything special. I had mandatory NUT visits once a month and just started following guidelines she gave us Plus I started walking. In january of this year, i couldn't stand for 10 minutes without breaking into a sweat. NUT said walk 10 minutes every day and I said "I can do that". The first time I tried I had to take 3 breaks and was drenched in sweat. Yesterday and the day before, I did an hour on the treadmill each day. I had to work up to that but it's been so worth it. I will walk a 5K within a few months. No reason you can't accomplish the same.

I've lost 50 preop plus 53 postop as I type this. I agree it's scary, especially to see how much more I have to lose. I recently got involved with the greatest local support group where we do things together and look out for each other and being involved makes a world of difference for me.

Starting WLS classes
There are people who get little or no education before surgery and suffer for it. You'll be thankful for all this later.

Teeth correction needed as a VSG vet?
Years ago a root canal and my first crown convinced me to start taking care of my teeth. That and learning that bad dental hygiene has been linked to heart issues! Sounds like you're on your way tho, and you can never been to vain about your teeth. If you don't already have one, go get a WaterPik. It doesn't replace flossing, it's not meant to, but will clean out those pockets really well where the toothbrush and flossing can't reach.

Dallas area sleeve?
EVERYONE! Please make sure you join the Dallas Area Sleevers group here at VST so you can view the list of support groups in the DFW area and receive updates. I sent invites to everyone on this thread, apologies if you received two or were already a member.

Syntrax Nectar
No worries, I had forgotten about that. Like southernsoul, I use an entire scoop for 8oz of Water.

Syntrax Nectar
You're finding a discrepancy between the Syntrax nectar? I've tried all of the Syntrax Nectar flavors and I remember them all having about 23g of protein.

OMG>> how am I supposed to go through with this?!~!
Take a couple of deep relaxing breaths, then write down the reasons you're doing this and why it's important to you. Keep that list near you, you may need it again. Second thoughts are normal, many of us have had them. I have as well, but i'd do the surgery again in a heartbeat.

Hi I was sleeved 11 days ago and ive already had some solids... and nothing happened.. I feel just fine...Has anyone else done this?
You did this, but you're not trying to encourage others to do the same are you?

How soon after surgery did you come off your "lifestyle" meds?
I like your style!

Weighing, stalls & realistic expectations
I weigh every day, but my "official" weigh in day is Friday. Whatever the scale says this day goes into MFP, Digifit, and the ticker here and at gastricsleeve.com. The other days i just record it in my smartphone bp app Stalls tell me that I need to change something. Just lately I started upping my Protein (without upping my calories so much) and that seems to have helped. I also increased my fluids. I'm getting 3 to 5 pounds a week I wanted a pound per day but that's not realistic. As long as it stays 3 -5 I'm happy.

How soon after surgery did you come off your "lifestyle" meds?
My surgeon tried to take me off of everything after surgery! He had me stop metformin for diabetes, one of my two blood pressure meds, and my GERD meds. I had to start taking the GERD meds again as I started getting pretty bad heartburn but may revisit taking me off them again. Still haven't taken the metformin or the one blood pressure med. Got off the other blood pressure med when i visited my cardiologist a month or so later. If you haven't already, get your husband one of those home blood pressure monitors and have him start taking readings DAILY. Share the results with his doc. One of my coworkers was sleeved a couple years ago, he stayed on his blood pressure meds, and his blood pressure got too low after losing weight and he ended up taking a nasty spill and banging his head enough to land him in the hospital.

Sooooo over it
A few questions: When was your surgery? Are you logging what you eat in something like MFP? How much Protein are you getting per day? What are you doing for workouts and what is your average heart rate while you're doing it? Are you measuring yourself?

Worried about pre op testing affecting my surgery
Can't speak for the thyroid but I had surgery as a diabetic. Haven't had a metformin since surgery tho!

Get involved in a local DFW support group!
Online is nice, but nothing beats getting together in person with people who share the same experiences. Last night, my family and I went to dinner with the THINspiration group (headed by Kevin) then to the showing of All of Me at Methodist Hospital in Dallas where other local area support groups were in attendance. It was a great evening, and afterwards part of the group got together again at another restaurant. THINspiration meets once a month at Seasons 52 in Plano, the next meeting is Saturday afternoon at 1230pm. If you'd like to get involved in one of the local meetings, check out the list I posted in the other thread here, contact the listed coordinator, and let them know you're interested.

Protein shakes vs protein powder
I believe they all have 23g per serving. I'm almost 11 weeks out and I still drink Protein shakes several times per day (along with food). They're the most efficient protein source considering calories vs protein.

Protein shakes vs protein powder
Highly recommended. MANY people have ordered this http://bjsbariatrics...SamplePack.html Personally, I like powders over RTD any day.
-
Just ate a Cheeseburger on my preop. OMG!
What's done is done. If you do this too soon after being sleeved, expect a trip to the emergency room.
-
struggling
Disagree. It would be so easy to get too many carbs on that plan and derail your detox and if you think it's bad now, imagine going through this AND recovering from surgery. No thanks. If i had to do it again, I'd do the same 5 shakes a day that I did before and get the detox over with before surgery.

Emotionally eating a protein shake
I'm not going to beat you up for emotionally having a Protein Shake, seems like you're going through a lot and at least you didn't reach for a bag of flaming hot Cheetos. Still, somewhere down the line, you may want to consider getting counseling for getting comfort out of food. You're in good company and are not the only one on VST who does this. I hope everything goes the best for you. I like your positive attitude!
