    Agreed and agreed!
  2. Well done Fiddle!
  3. You should be proud of yourself - well done. Now do it again tomorrow!
  4. Thanks! Yes I weigh myself every day AND I DON'T RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE DO IT! I've seen so many people on this site beat themselves up because the weight isn't "falling off" and the first thing I ask them is if they weigh themselves every day. Pick one day in the week that works for you and stick with it. Since you won't dare weigh yourself everyday you're ahead of the game - stick to that!
  5. I'd guess that everyone that has been sleeved had second thoughts at one time or another. Sure you will. Protein is the first thing on the plate you have to consume. When that's done, if you have any room it's veggie time. Veggies are your friend, there has to be something out there for you. If there's any room after the veggies, then you can worry about the carbs or fruit. We were all scared we were making a mistake. I'm only able to eat less than half of what my 20 year old daughter can eat, i'm not miserable. I used to eat a double bacon cheeseburger with an order of onion rings. now i can only eat a quarter of a single bacon cheeseburger and one onion ring leaving me a minimum of 3 more leftovers. i don't consider that miserable. Not gonna sugar coat it for you, people have gotten sick after surgery. People have also been amazed at how good they feel a day after surgery. No way to predict. But most of us have family that needs us and we managed.

From the thread description: "This forum is for general conversation, sharing interests, having a laugh or discussing anything not specifically related to VSG surgery."
  7. This works! Well done!
  8. 322 as of this morning.
  9. Hi Michelle. I started out at 416lbs and i'll tell you where to start. Go outside and walk for 10 minutes (down the road and back or whatever). if you can't walk 10 minutes walk 5. Do this EVERY day for 30 days. You tell me what you'd do after the 30 days is up.
  10. 50lbs lost prior to surgery. My recovery was less eventful than some here. The worst part of the journey was the two-week liquid-only preop diet. The first 4 days I was angry, bitter, and wanted to sue people. On the 5th day i work up feeling better that before I had started the diet. The worst part of surgery for me was the first hour. I had a gas pain that would no go away. They saw i was in discomfort, offered me pain meds, I took them, and i later was cracking jokes with people as they wheeled me down the hallway to my room. The gas pain lasted off and on for a few days replaced by the feeling like I had done too many situps the day before. Pain was off and on, easily relieved with liquid hydrocodone that was prescribed to me. All in all, more discomfort than pain - i was off of work for 3 weeks. I consider the first week recovery followed by two weeks of vacation. I was in the hospital a little more than 24 hours. I left with instructions to no longer take my metformin, diovan, and lansoprazole.
  11. I started at 416. 10.2 lbs in 19 days is nothing to dismiss, you did good! At one of my first visits with my doctor I told him I wanted to weight 175lbs. He kinda blew me off and explained that 50% of my excess weight was more realistic - to me, that still left me large. If I'm going to weigh 296 I might as well weigh 396. I lost 50lbs in the months before surgery. He was more enthusiastic about my goal when he saw i was willing to put in effort to make it happen. Ask your questions.
  12. Good manual! I used it a few times although my surgeon gave me one specific to his guidelines. I wish the one from my surgeon was available electronically.

  16. You might face challenges carrying stuff that's heavy, otherwise you should be okay. Ask your doctor for the final word.
  17. I was given a prescription at my 1 month followup to take for 4 months twice a day. One more pill to take but only for a short while. No issues so far.
  18. I regret that I can only "like" your post once - very well said!
  19. Fueled by emotions of the past few days or was this motivated differently?
