Best: my hubby...I m so proud of you.
Worst: my neighbour...look at you! You re skinnier than me!
Ruddest: same neighbour, to my daughter... your mom is becoming beautiful! Another friend was in such a shock to see how much weight I lost so she screamed: stop losing! Your face is getting old...
And to top it all, my bro in law who was pretty sure last month that I ve reached my maximum and my body won t drop any more lbs. Because as he said these surgeries have a limit. I have lost 10 lbs since that day...funny and sad at the same time. But I hold no grudges because I am happy and if they re jealous, let it be.

Best: my doctor(pcp) told me he didn't even recognize me in the waiting room and told me I was doing a great job.
Weirdest::I am a teacher and when I came back to school in August my boss kept telling me I had such a nice tan and was getting dark. (She didn't know I had the surgery and you could tell she saw something different in me but wasn't sure what it was.
Awkward: when people say, I don't know what you've done but you sure look pretty now. Any "compliment" that kind of makes it seem like you looked like complete crap before your surgery
Funniest: I was telling my best friend how I hope I keep some of my butt as I continue to lose. And she told me now you can actually tell I have a butt! lol before my belly and back had so much extra fluff that it really minimized my rear and made me look like I had no junk in my trunk. Now I am evening out some so my butt sticks out more. Yay!

One of the best: "what you do with that other person?"
One of the worst: "you are shrinking down to nothing, are you feeling ok?"

My absolute favorite is very simple....my very best friend and person I admire the most in the world said to me your doing really good.....simple but means a lot. Also, when I saw my surgeon last time, he is always very encouraging but he hugged me and said I'm proud of you. Nothing has really bothered me, I feel like anything said to me has been said with good intentions so I receive it that way.

Best was my brother commenting that I was getting skinny.
Worst are my friends who exclaim, "you look like you've lost a TON of weight." I'm sure they mean it complimentary but it really, a ton? No, more like 60 lbs.

The best is when people use words I've never had describe me before in my life "look at you your getting tiny!" "Hey skinny mini " and the not so nice ones are " your face is getting pretty" so was it ugly before? And " you look better now, you actually look nice" what the hell does that mean?! I still don't know how to react to compliments sometimes even 9 months out lol

Lets all share our best and worst well meaning compliments about our weight loss.
My best was after returning to work after summer break: where'd you go this summer?! I mean where'd you go? Half of you is gone!
Oddest (considering it came from my mother in law): look at you! You're nothing but boobs!
Rudest: wow you lost all that weight and it found me. (Yes I am now responsible for others weight gain)
But the nicest compliments are the simple, you look great! I know they mean my weight loss and I appreciate the subtlety.
    What are yours?

Yep... my doctor wants everyone on it for the first three months, minimum, and then as individually needed. It should help you.

Usually head hunger is like a craving, thinking you want food but not real hunger. At 8 days out you are probably feeling the hunger sensation caused by excessive acid in your healing stomach. I had that really bad at first. Antacids helped and it did go away after several weeks.

The after is not bad, in fact it gets a little easier each day. At first your belly will be sore and you may have nausea. You will have gas pressure in your chest. By the third or fourth day this will be behind you more or less. Then the post op diet will be the next hurdle. It will be challenging to get all your Protein in, just pace yourself and take it ounce by ounce. By 5 or 6 weeks out you will feel like yourself, only better and thinner. Good luck!

Yes it gets easier and please don't beat yourself up if you don't get in all your Proteins at first. Just try your best, your stomach is still healing. As time passes you will find yourself able to finish a whole Protein Shake, but that's at about 2-3 weeks. So just keep sipping!

Healthier2day1227 reacted to dpeeler28 in 1 year out and still haven't hit goal
me and my surgeon never talked about it either, at my last check up he told me that i have lost 78 % of my weight(so I'm assuming the goal he had set for me is 150) however i set my own goal of 130 to 140....I am built like a brick **** house(big all over) and still have quite a bit of belly so i think another 40 pounds off of me would be great. but that is something you should really discuss with your doctor during your next check up!!

Don't worry the weight will eventually come off. It takes time. My pre op diet was the same as yours and I lost 10 pounds in three weeks which I thought was not a lot considering the effort I made. I remember not seeing the scale move until day 7, then little by little. Hang in there it will happen.

I never thought I would complain about ANY weight loss, but I can't help but compare my weight loss with others on this site. I am two weeks out and have only lost 10 pounds. I get in about 90 g of Protein and 600 cal a day which is what my surgeon recommended. I'm 5'10". I feel like doing something wrong especially when I hear about people losing 25 their first two weeks. Also, I get in my fluids and walk 30 min daily.

I drink the Monster Rehabs, they are non-carbonated, the one I really like is lemonade and tea. They are 10 calories and have a few grams of sugar so maybe wait awhile before trying them.

I was initially advised not to drink coffee. But after 5 mons doc gave approval to drink it if i must. suggested that i mix it though. Truth is my stomach can't tolerate to much caffeine at all now. So I mix a small cup 1/2 Decaf & 1/2 reg when I do drink it and it's satisfying. I really just drink it only once a week.
