I wish I had it done sooner. I haven't felt this good in a long time. I don't miss large quantities of food nearly as much as I thought I would and I certainly don't miss the extra weight. It just feels GOOD! You'll see. Congrats on beginning your journey. Blessings.

Yep, you are!!! Lol Just a note of encouragement - I am three + years out. 100 lbs lighter and love every minute of it! My advice - try not to think about the 85% part gone and focus on the 15% left. You will be very happy you did it, I predict. At least I was! Never looked back and love it!

PS--three pounds a week to me would be uber-fast! I guess it's all about perspective. It always fascinates me how people can have such similar weights, energy intake and output, and have such wildly different speeds of weight loss. As the poem that my dear grandmother loved (Desidirata) says: "Do not compare yourself to others, for there will always be greater or lesser people (weight loss), and you will become bitter or vain." This is easier said than done, but I work very hard to do it and count my blessings! I'm down more than 60 lbs (including pre-op) that I'm sure I wouldn't have been if it had not been for this journey.

No offense was meant, just trying to bring a little humor to post-op life, since it's such an intense and emotionally draining experience.
I'm happy for anyone that is working toward their goals and achieving success.

Those of us who are fast losers post our success for several reasons, including:
    * Disbelief of our own good fortune - helps to say it and write it
    * Sincere desire to encourage others
I had no expectations that the "journey" would be so quick and easy for me. At a lower than usual BMI of 40, I expected it to actually go slower than for others. I do have a very fast metabolism, which causes shame rather than joy, because it means I had to work hard to get that big. And I did not do anything special, like work out (at all), or live on Unjury ( I can eat more than most and do!) to lose so rapidly. It just happened.
We are in total disbelief of our good fortune and we just need to share it, not for praise and recognition, but to show others that it doesn't have to be an uphill battle for every one of us.
So please tolerate us sharing our joy and success!! We share in yours, regardless of the pace!

I find that the important thing to remember is that whether your a fast loser or a slow loser, the end result will be the same, weight loss......
This is a wonderful journey we're on and we have a lot of learning to do here regarding our triggers to eating bad foods etc. You have done very well in your weight loss and will continue until you reach your goal..... So CONGRATS!

I say I am slow by forum standards, but according to doc and nut I am where I need to be. I work out 5/6 days a week some days I eat 40 carbs some days I eat 80. Some days my calories are less than 800 somedays they are near 1000. I think what people need to remember is our journeys are all individual. I am pleased with MY progress and that is all that matters. Of course the post with someone saying they loss 50lb in 3 months gets attention because pre sleevers hope that will be them and post sleevers are wishing that was them. It just creates a vicious cycle of disappoint. I am not saying that person should not post their success , but people should be realistic and need to understand this process is different for us all. I stopped hanging around the boards because other people's whining about their slow weight loss had me doubting myself!

Good for you!!! You will find something very cute to wear that will be a size you are happy with. It was so exciting when I hit 199! I officially have lost 101 pounds in exactly 6 months. I feel like I have won the lotto of life!

I would have taken plenty of time off of work if I could do it over. I am self-employed so was working really the same night I had surgery (answering emails on my iPhone from hospital) and sitting at a computer working a few days later. If I had a job with medical leave/sick time, I would have tried to take at least 3 to 4 weeks off and I don't think I would have been so exhausted the first couple of months.

I think I'm just weird about my food. Things like potluck with food prepared in people's kitchens whom I don't know freak me out. LOL! I like having my own little lunchbox that keeps everything cool. It's so easy to throw it in the freezer too. I don't really even need the ice packs in the bottom. It's a Rachael Ray lunchbag and they make neutral patterns. My husband bought it for me for my bday a couple of years ago and it was one of those things that I didn't know I needed until I had it!

I have a lunchbag that I can freeze in the freezer and then I also put freezer packs in the bottom--keeps my food cold enough that I don't have to put it in the yucky communal fridges.

I agree with TES. I wouldn't keep my food in the fridge. It has nothing to do with cleanliness and everything to do with keeping healthy by eating the healthy foods brought from home. Pack your food to keep cold in your own space, not in the communal fridge.
