You may want to let your mom know that diet pills come with risks, also

Anything you do has complications that can occur. Doesn't mean that they are going to. You need to sit down and figure out the pros vs the cons! Don't let anyone one else, not even your mother, make a decision about YOUR body for you. You need to make decisions that you think are best for you. Have you gone to support meetings for WLS in your area? They really do help and then you can meet people in person and share their experiences with you! Most people will tell you that WLS was the best thing that they have done. pills only work if you are taking them or using them as a tool. A lot of this process is mental and you have to change how you think about food and how you use food. Just do what is best for you and only you can make that decision!

How exciting to start your new life on this beautiful morn. My prayers are for your bravery, that your wonderful surgeon got plenty of sleep, and that God bless his awesome hands. You are in the hands that God led you to. Bless you, sweetie. My surgery will be in June, so I, too, will be asking for prayers. God bless you and yours.

I had that fear. I still do fear I won't lose any more. Probably irrational, but I sure do understand what you are saying! I couldn't lose weight before, so why now, I figured. The difference is that you can't over eat. You can't take a break. You can't go on a binge. You still have to do your part, but it's the long haul that makes the difference.

So sorry to hear this. Something doesn't sound right. You definitely need to pester your doctor until you get resolution. They tend to assume that YOU are doing something wrong to cause your problems because the alternative could mean that THEY did something wrong. Be persistent. Ask to see the head of the department. Demand an outside second opinion. Ask for a copy of your medical record for your "lawyer". The implication that they might get sued, is a great motivator! Do whatever you have to, to get them to solve your problem. The squeaky wheel gets the grease! Keep us posted and best wishes to you!

It seems like you realize that you did wrong, so just throw out the remaining rolls and move along. I would be more concerned with doing physical damage to yourself that far out over screwing up on a food item.
You are a day ahead of me, and while I do crave breads I fear what I might do if it where to get stuck. From that I can imagine the inside of your stomach looks like a zipper of sorts right now, that's a lot of little areas that something might lodge and cause issues.
Just tough it out and remember why you did this, and how good it makes you feel when you step onto the scale and see that number smaller each time.
Now, this is something that I am kinda speaking out of my ass with, but maybe you should look into a support group.. I know my Doc offers one, but I don't partake in it right now because I chose a doc that is over an hour from my house. Just some thoughts that may help.

It's not just your weight loss you're messing with.. You may do a lot of damage or cause yourself some serious sleeve issues. Does this not scare you? I died twice with band complications and getting the sleeve was my final chance at not failing or sabotaging a WLS.. I refuse to play games with things now. My life and success is very important... Please value yourself too! Be careful

Newme48 reacted to MichiganChic in So tired no energy
I think it's within the realm of normal. To recover from a major surgery like this, it's really a minimum of six weeks. It also depends on your diet and current weight. When I was eating 400-500 calories and trying to support nearly 300 pounds, I was tired! It's just not enough fuel to feel energetic. I also feel very bad on too low of carbs - I think that's unique to the individual, but I can't function on none. Also, my Iron levels were a little low at first, so I think that contributed to feeling exhausted for me. I agree with Ballermom, that exercise can improve your energy level, particularly if you do some strength training. So, my advice it to follow your program, get some extra rest while you need it, stay hydrated, and give it some time. It does get better

My timeline was 6 months and I ended up taking a whole year to get ready due to working two jobs, and getting organized. It went really fast and I was comfortable and ready when surgery day came!!

The preop diet will help shrink the internal fat in your abdomen as well as shrink your liver. This will make it easier for your surgeon to see and perform your surgery. This will also mean less time in the operating room if they can operate without your liver in the way and that means less anesthesia time. It all is to your benefit. Talk to your surgeon again and see if they will compromise on the length of your preop diet. Be sure to tell them why it is important to you. Remember if they insist on the 3 months that it is for your benefit. Put yourself first. Good luck to you.

Since I'm pre-op and new to the boards here, I definitely am NO kind of expert on WLS. I have to say, though, that I agree most with those who are saying that surgery doesn't mean you have to become an ascetic monk and deny yourself every pleasure you used to take with your tastebuds. Kind of like saying that one bad breakup doesn't mean you HAVE to become celibate--although that might work for some, it's not a requirement. A bad breakup affects everyone differently: some become anti-relationships, some "hook up" every chance they get, and most find a low-key middle of the road.
Second time tonight that I've equated food to romance. Hmm. Maybe I need to write a cookbook/romance novel. "Fifty Shades of Grey Poupon"?

I crave a lettuce salad with Ranch dressing, croutons, a little shredded cheese, a little bit of bacon and sunflower seeds. I mean CRAVE - as in, I sometimes dream I am sitting down to a HUGE salad. I know I can eat a salad, but I only have a small bite because Veronica (my sleeve) fills up too quickly. Way too quickly - which is a good thing, but my mind is devastated sometimes.
I also eat on a small plate. I think it's a bread or dessert plate. We even bought extra ones so that I have a stack of 10. We had already switched to using luncheon plates for our meals about a year prior to surgery. The hubs only uses a regular plate now if it is a holiday meal or if a baked potato is part of a meal - he has to mash his out all over the plate practically. We use Corelle dishes because my Rheumatoid arthritis made it hard to carry the stoneware. This is super handy though because there's a Corelle store at the factory outlet mall - individual pieces are super cheap.

Uhhh...lighten up lady. Live and let live. You know the saying ...If you can't say something nice>>>>>.etc.
To the cheeseburger eater - i hope it was the best cheeseburger you ever had. I had 3 bites of a BBQ sandwich last night at a concert. It was DELICIOUS and it was just too bad I had to give the rest to my son because I got full after the 3 bites. Oh - and I also had about 1/3 of a margarita. That was all I could hold. And it was darn good. ( Now I will sit and wait to be blasted for enjoying myself and prepare myself for the "You will FAIL" statements from the know-it-all experts)

    Hi Everyone!
It is my 11 month surgeversary tomorrow so I thought I would post my progress pics. I am down 116 pounds and have 25 more to go to goal. The absolute best thing I could have done for myself. I am not the same person at all. I sometimes have a hard time keeping up with how I look on the outside. I still feel the same on the inside. Well... happier of course but still the same person! I hope to lose 5 more pounds before my 1 year. Then I will have only 20 to goal. I have to say, I didn't think I would get this close!!! It has been an amazing journey. I had to have my gallbladder taken out 3 weeks ago, but all is well!

I quit on New Year's Day. My surgery was on feb 5th. My surgeon tested my urine twice and warned me he would not do my surgery if I did not quit. I did start back up about a week ago. Very disappointed in myself. I am going to quit again soon I hope. I know that smoking is terrible for wound healing and can cause ulcers. I hope to be smoke free by the end of the month.
