    Mexico Location's - Please Help

I went through OCC with DR Ariel Ortiz..he was wonderful as was the staff in the hospital. I recommend him. I am 5 years out and have remained near my goal weight. Good Luck.
  2. I am almost 4 years out. I would do it again tomorrow! It MADE me want to change my eating habits. I run and am so much more active and healthy. I don't have side effects from the surgery other than if I eat sugary foods my stomach will become upset. I also can not eat bread or rice or I feel bloated and sick. Pennsylvania sleevers?

Hi. I'm from ebensburg, pa but had my surgery done in Tijuana Mexico three years ago Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. Do it if you can and don't let anyone tell you not to. I weighed 176 and had it done. It was the best thing I could've ever done. No regrets. I was self pay and had it done in Mexico. I weigh 142 currently but am pretty much all muscle. I do the insanity workout and am probably in the best shape of my life. I wear a size 8, could wear a 6 at times. I love it.
  5. I started at 176 in April to be 142 now. I absolutely love it. I want to go a bit lower (137). I can't tell you how much better I feel. I went from a size 12 to 8 and do the insanity workout to help firm up. It works. I actually gained 2 lbs since I started it but that's ok. It's muscle.

    Dr Ariel Ortiz?

Dr Miranda is awesome! She's so helpful and kind and don't hesitate to contact her after the surgery with questions or concerns either. I have a few times and she gets back to you pretty quickly.
  7. People at the clinic were giving me strange looks when I was there. I didn't care. They don't know my story. I am down 24.8lbs and love it! I have 9.2 to meet my goal. I also lost 5 lbs on the pre-diet. Just because you have less to lose does not make it easier to lose.

    Dr Ariel Ortiz?

I was just too loopy from the meds to remember him. My bf met him and assured me that I did too, I just don't remember. I would recommend him and the entire OCC staff to my closest friends and family. I have no regrets.

    Dr Ariel Ortiz?

I was sleeved by Dr Ortiz on 4/15. It was everything they said it would be. The pictures and videos were accurate. I was sick afterwards but that had nothing to do with the care they took of me. All of the nurses were wonderful and were helpful when I was sick. I didn't get to meet Dr Ortiz. My bf was with me and he did and said he was in the room but I do not remember him. Best decision of my life. Feel free to ask questions. I asked a million questions before I went!

BMI 32 pre- op. Any thoughts?

I started with a very low BMI as well. I love an have never regretted it. I was in pretty much the same boat as you were, just didnt want to be where the rest of my family is already! Too fat! I had mine 9 weeks ago. I lost 22# and have 12# more to go. I love it and would do it again in a minute! Expect slower weight loss because of the lower BMI, I did and am not disappointed when I hear of others losing lbs each day when I stay the same or lose a few ounces. It's not a race. You have the rest of your life. Enjoy!
  11. Have you tried different things to drink? Some drinks go down smoother than others. I am two and a half months out and still have trouble with plain water.
  12. I am a slow loser. I have lost 20# since April 15th. I didn't even realize I was such a slow loser till I just read through this!
  13. Is he your only choice of surgeon?
  14. I have no idea. I didn't ask. The size differences seemed insignificant to me.
  15. Well, for breakfast I had a salad with a lot of diff vegetables in it, bacon bits and chick peas, about 3 quarters of a cup. Lunch I had a small hamburger, no bread, that I dipped in mayo and ketchup and a couple spoonfuls of baked beans then I had about a fourth cup of a cherry dessert, I drank flavored water and tea between this and am planning to have a couple more spoonfuls of baked beans and a half chicken breast for dinner tonight. If there's anything after that it will be yogart. Not sure about that though. I do not deprive myself of things I want. I have done that over and over with my diets and it has never ended we'll so I'm going to eat small portions an try to make good decisions. There were many things today that I could have eaten, I was at a picnic where everyone brought goodies so even though I did have dessert, it could have been much worse and I was totally satisfied. If I can keep on like this and continue to lose slowly ill take it!

    Eating around other people

I haven't told anyone except my boyfriend so when I go out I find it easier to say I'm on a no carb diet and order a couple of wings from the appetizer menu. You can just pick at them and no one really notices you aren't eating very much then I pass off some to my BF. if I'm not at that kind of establishment, I order soup and salad to come before the others get their meals.
  17. I started at 171 and am at 154.4 6 weeks out today. I have been on a stall all week long. I'm not complaining, just saying that when you start with a lower BMI it comes off slower.
  18. I'm sorry...I am just over 5 weeks out. Apparently i can't count;)))
  19. Please do not judge low BMI ers. We all have a story to tell. I am 5'2 and just because I had a lower BMI doesn't mean that I wasn't considered to be obese. That's a hard word to swallow. I went into this with my eyes wide open, I inhaled all of the information, good and bad, that I possibly could and then went forward. Yes, I did have to go to Mexico for the surgery and had no health problems but...my insurance that said I "wasn't heavy enough" for WLS should thank me since I come from a long line of obesity and health problems because of it. Maybe it would be in their best interest to help us "low BMI ers " before it does come to that. I was fortunate enough to have the resources available to me to travel to Mexico and have it done, not everyone does. So, no, I do not regret my decision. I am almost 7 weeks out and may come across regrets down the road, but not yet. I feel terrible for the ones that have had complications with their surgeries as we all went into this trying to better ourselves. I have lost 16.6 lbs in that 6 and a half weeks and feel very good most says. I was tired but with a little iron in my system I perked right up.
  20. I have asked about this and my coordinator said that your body will stop losing weight at the right time. I'm 18 lbs away from my goal so I'm interested in how low I'll actually be able to go. 16 to my Drs goal for me.
  21. I couldn't get it done here in the states either with a lower BMI unless I was self pay but the cost was out if this world. That's why I went with going to Mexico. Obesity runs rabid in my family and I was we'll on my way to it. I feel so much better about my weight already!
  22. Something happened with my hair on the day of surgery. It's dead and feels terrible. I lose more now than before the surgery but not enough to notice. I have thin and brittle hair anyway but I think the anesthesia had something to do with it with it?? I am hoping to not lose hair after another few months because it will be noticeable since my hair is already thin

    Sleepy and achy

I have been having to force myself to drink all day but I don't think I'm dehydrated. Maybe I caught a bug. My head is pounding and Tylenol didnt touch it...
  24. I am just over one month out and have had an easy time of it. Last week I became so sleepy that I just want to come home from work and go to bed. Last night I went to bed at 7:30pm. I slept about 12 hours. Today I was out shopping and my legs and arms became achy and sore. And I'm still sleepy. I have a terrible headache. I'm not sure if that related or not. I am taking my vitamins , getting liquids in and protein. Any ideas what I could need or what's going in here?
  25. I come from a long line of obesity. My sister had the lap band about 6 years ago and has kept off about 100#. There are so many scary stories about that and follow up that I was sleeved instead. I did not have any health problems but wanted to avoid that. Tonight I am eating a steak salad. My first one. I was wondering how this was going to go. But as long as I chew well its ok. Of course I eat a fraction of what I used to of a salad but more than when I eat a more dense food. I've noticed that it just depends on WHAT you are eating to determine how much of it you can eat. Right now I am just trying everything out. Eating slowly and seeing how much till I feel satisfied. I can't say enough how much I love my new stomach. We get along very well!
