Was it just me??
I'm mostly a lurker and I was still feeling withdrawal symptoms!

A Pleasant Realization . . .
Ok, so maybe I'm a weirdo but your post gave me cold chills! How thrilling! Oh gosh, I guess it's possible that I'm finished with my super jumbo spring and summer clothes since I'll be banded in Jan. or Feb.! WOW!!!!

Really bummed
How disappointing for you! I hope that everything is OK and you get a quick go ahead!

Freeeezing..what does it mean?
I lost 70 pounds once years ago and I was freezing all the time. I'm actually looking forward to that part of my banded life because my boyfriend and I are constantly in a thermostat battle because I keep things too cold for him and he keeps things too hot for me.

10cc instead of AP..I'm pissed!
Wow. I would be hugely disappointed too AND FURIOUS. Just try to focus on recovering now and worry about the "what they owe you" part after you feel better. I'd just hate you to add stress to an already EXTREMELY stressful adjustment period. *hugs*

What do you think of this?
Very becoming!

Weird NSV
That is so exciting! One of my sad little fantasies in life is to throw away all my bras and panties and socks and buy all new!! I knew I needed to get serious about weight loss when my granny panties started getting TOO TIGHT!

I'm 35 today and down 50 pounds!
That is SO exciting!!! That last half of your 30's can be the best years of your life!

Need help... daughter 16 & 300lbs
What a profound post. That is exactly how I feel about my life now and I haven't been banded yet. When I was 16 I weighed 250 pounds. Now I'm 37 and weigh 330 and as insubordination so eloquently put it, my life has been a "tragic waste of potential." Over half of my life has been wasted and if I could go back in time and have the band when I was in high school I would do it. I'm glad you are supporting your daughter's decision and hope to see her on the boards soon!

I've lost 66 lbs so far
Hooray for you!!!!

I hate a lot of you. I really do.
What fantastic responses! Huge thanks to everyone who posted. It sounds like the solution to my problem is to... A. Focus on my personality (Which I do happen to think is pretty great!) and B. Save every penny I have (then rob a bank) so I can have LOTS OF PLASTIC SURGERY!!!!!!! =) Your posts reminded me of something that I "overcame" a few years ago. I hate my smile. When I laugh, or smile my gums BEAM out of my face and every single tooth shows. I used to hide my smile and when cameras came out I never, ever smiled a genuine smile. Then I had this revelation that anyone who was taking a picture of me in the first place probably loved me and didn't give a rat's bum about my jacked up smile so I may as well just let 'er rip! Since then I've had some very genuine pictures taken and learned a lesson on top of that!

Keeping my surgery secret from most of my family, has anyone else
I've told everyone and their second cousin's twice removed that I'm getting banded. I'm sure I'll regret it once they start monitoring and questioning everything I eat but now I'm so excited that I can't stop talking about it. I think you made a very wise choice.

Jack, Now I have this mental image of the Simpsonite in your avatar stripping to that song. My imagination is so warped! LOL wombat, I know what you mean. I've never been thin at all though so I'm sure I'll get all kinds of strange surprises with my body when it starts changing. WAS, I definitely believe it. Don't worry though, when I'm banded and start losing weight I'm going to post before and after pictures here no matter how scary ugly I am! LOL I'll be the happiest ugly woman in the world. =)

The NO MOTRIN thing...what to do?????

No more ibuprofen is one of the things I worry about most after banding. I hope my surgeon has some great alternatives for me because Tylenol doesn't help a bit.

Those of you that drink alcohol
I saw my surgeon's dietician for the first time a couple of weeks ago and not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES she told me, "You cannot drink beer after you've been banded." I had just finished telling her that I drink once, MAYBE twice a year so I was thinking, "WTH? Do I look that much like Norm from Cheers to her?" I have what might be a stupid question. What makes you get drunker faster after you've been banded? Is it because you weigh less?

So many of you lost weight and now you are stunning and beautiful and well....many of you were beautiful before too so I guess I would have hated you when you were fat too. :heh: My point is that even if (and when) I lose weight, I'm still going to have an ugly face and that TICKS ME OFF!!!! I want to be pretty for once in my life, dammit!!!!! :tired Does anyone else out there feel the way I do? I know I'll be healthier and better able to move and blah, blah, blah but geez...it sure would be nice to look in the mirror and be happy when all of this is over. (Disclaimer: I don't actually hate any of you for being pretty. All of my best friends are super model pretty. Life's a bitch, isn't it?) :biggrin1:

You are a talented and creative woman. I honestly love both of them! (And did you switch pictures because I thought the couple looked about the same age?) Hmmmmm.

All my hopes and dreams down the drain
I'm just wondering, do you think that weight loss surgery was written out AFTER you had already started the process? Could that make a difference? I wouldn't give up until I got everything in writing. Maybe your ins. covered it when you started the process and they would be obligated in some way to pay it now? Just a thought. I'm so sorry this happened. I would be devastated. =(

finally got a date to take tests.
Oh wow, I just noticed that you went for your tests in January and just had a date set for September. *crosses fingers that mine won't take that long* Good luck to you!
