  1. Thank you!! That brings piece of mind!!! I'm trying to put together a "post op" menu, and I seemed to run out of ideas for really soft foods that don't have dairy, or any fat in it. This should be easier now thank you!
  2. Hi all. I had my sleeve done Jan 2013. Shortly after that I developed gallstone pains. After a year and a half I'm finally over it and having it removed. Now with this pain I had to learn how to eat in a different way than my surgeons have instructed. (Basically I was told to eat lean meats and high natural fats such as nuts, but butters and avocado etc..) that being said- almost all of those things triggered gall attacks. So I can handle meat still- give me a juicy steak and I'm a happy girl! While my doctor doesn't really have advice as to what I can and can't eat- I've read to stay away from red meats, all peanuts, all fatty foods (including healthy fats and oils that my body definitely needs!!) I've also read I should stay away from dairy for a long time- so there goes my high protein soft food. I am unable to supplement many vitamins- my body just rejects them- still unknown why- so I've relied heavily on healthy nuts and oils and such to help my nutrition. This all being said. I know some of you have been through this, any advice would be amazing! What can I eat post gallbladder removal surgery? At this point I'm thinking chicken broth.... And I'm almost stumped at that! Thank you in advance for the advice!
  3. I've ventured into Onderland =) Beginning journey: 300lb 22w/3xl. Date of surgery: 279 Today:193 size 14/L. I feel great =) go us!
  4. Thank you so much Laura! That list will really help! And good luck to you also Meliss! It is so very painful, but I'm going to try a few home remedies and eating lower fats before resorting to surgery. I've had my share of medical bills for the year! Haha But really thank you- both!

    Sleevers by profession.

Lets see I work at a local kosher winery running both the office and tasting room, I also work in a bakers kitchen as her assistant, together we make the best tasting cookies (that I no longer taste ) I also am a Mary Kay beauty consultant, and I work with children in local musical programs, teaching them about how to play, learn and read music. Oh yes and I am a wife =)

    Sore legs and hips

Is the pain related to exercise or anything? Or just coming and going throughout the day? I get pains deep in my hips when I take a big hike or run too much, but usually throughout the day it's fine, just sore when I work them too much. I figured that was just my joints punishing me for being unhappily overweight for so many years! Stretching is seriously a miracle! Do it everyday! I have to do it twice a day because my muscles are too tense. But it really helps me! Good luck to you!
  7. Hi all, I was sleeved in January 2013. I have been experiencing several episodes of an incapacitating pain. And last night the doctors were finally able to pin it down to gallstones. (Side note: originally when I had my surgery I had Kaiser insurance, now I have something else and my surgeon isn't able to communicate with me--insurance politics or something silly like that--anyhow-) I advised the ER doctor and every other doctor that saw me that I have had the surgery. Once they figured out what was happening they advised me to eat a low to no fat diet to help keep the pain away. That being said, how do I do that!? I eat mostly meat and cheese and yogurt! How can I eat mainly fruits and veggies when I NEED PROTEIN!? I guess I can always supplement (my doctor was never really an advocate for supplements... His reasoning was why would you consume unnecessary calories when you can just eat a steak and be satisfied?) so I really never had the chance to learn the way of the supplements. And not just supplements but what foods are a good choice that are high in protein and low in fat? Teach me your ways fellow sleevers! I need all the advise and help I can get!! Thanks in advance for the help!

I feel so tired to have sex

It goes away or minimizes more. I went through this as well, and while thankfully I don't have children yet, it was still difficult for me to really get excited about anything. Not just sexually, but pretty much anything. Once you begin upping your exercise routine you will have more energy and you will be back to normal and then some. This will pass... No worries! Best of luck with everything!
  9. Stef, Great job!!! Congratulations! What a great feeling, I'm so happy for you! And all if us actually! Go us!!

    Shoe size?

I sure hope so! I'm a size 12 now & it's hard finding shoes, I'd love to have smaller feet =)

    Ice cream?

I had a really hard time tolerating things like ice cream up until recently. I'm talking one bite of my husbands ice cream and i'd run to the bathroom to puke my guts out (sorry for the visual) so i stayed away from it for a while, and last week i decided to try another bite of my husbands ice cream and I could tolerate it... I think my issue was the sugar and the milk product.. no bueno! but I can handle yogurt and cheese no problem! but I had some SLIGHT dairy intolerance prior to surgery, it was all just amplified.. Its not something I make a habit of eating, and its not something I will eat in excess... its just a nice treat every now and again. I would try the Protein ice cream recipe that Kat was talking about, that sounds like its more tolerable!

    Close by..

Hi! Thanks for creating this group! I live in Napa, close enough to Vacaville! In fact I worked there for a number of years. How has your sleeve journey gone so far?
  13. I was sleeved on January 23, 2013. starting weight 300lbs. this morning I weighed in at 206.4. I am so thrilled, I am more motivated than ever to continue moving forward on my journey and see what else I can do! Congratulations everyone, your stories are very inspirational to me!

    This may be silly!

Thats Great!!!! I had sort of the same motivation, (not nearly as exciting as a pretty dress and a cruise) but mine was a pair of jeans. They're so soft and perfect in EVERY WAY!! and I bought them in 2007. wore them ONCE and grew out of them. so my "first goal" was to get into those jeans... I had Surgery in January and now I can wear them (and I do just about 4 days a week haha) but now I'm almost too small for them =/ so I guess this means I need to find a cute new something -- possibly an awesome dress for a cruise! and hang that front and center in my closet for me next goal! Congratulations, and best of luck to you on your journey!

    Some motivation please

I had this happen also. Just be very mindful of what and how much you put in your mouth. Go back to measuring things out and WRITE DOWN Everything you eat and drink and how much, It was at this point I began to journal it all in "My Fitness Pal". It really helps seeing what your eating, and being accountable for it. Good luck to you! 33lbs is a terrific accomplishment! You can do it!! =)
