Protien Woes... How the heck to fit it in!

Thank you everyone for the great advice!!!!
  2. Hi Everybody! My NUT told me at Phase 3 Soft Phase I can have 3 meals of 4 oz and 1 or 2 Snacks 2 oz. The snacks can come into play if it will be over 4 hours between meals and at least an hour more until a meal. I still don't seem to understand how I am supposed to get al 70 grams in that she requires. Even if I have a protien shake the full shake is 30 but they only want me to have 4 ounces of it. This was said specifically. Whew this is going to be hard. Most of my meals are all protien and they alsot old me that they want me to mix cooked veggies in. Example 1 1/2 oz of a veggie type carb and the rest protien. What the heck?? Anyone else have these instructions? I have my appointment on Friday and I am about ready to ask her what my calorie intake and all my counts should be on everything and I just split them up myself instead of following her meal and snack protical. Thoughts? I surely can't be the only one..... Whoopsie! I forgot to include.... My surgery was 3/18 - Start Weight 286 - Current - I seem to flux between 262 and 259. Advanced Laprascopic - Dr Amit Trivedi (Anyone else a patient there?) Thanks all Michele

WHAT??? Why won't they cover it? It is not something you could help. I am sorry to hear.

    surgery 3 days ago

Does your surgeon have you on all clears the first 2 weeks? That is what mine did. You can't really get much protien in at that point. They said I didn't have to worry about it until my soft phase. I start that Sunday.
  6. I will tell you that my NUT told me to have 3 meals a day 4 hours in between 4 ounces each meal. I cannot manage a 6 oz cup of yogurt right now. My surgery was March 18th. Next phase I am allowed 2 - 2 ounce snacks. I am sure my calories will go up even more but yes I am rangine 490 - 600 right now. I suppose it depends on your NUT's instructions on how many meals a day.
  7. Are you really hungry or head hungry? I know I messed up once or twice and snacked when they told me clearly that at this stage just 3 meals 4 oz .. next stage I get 1 or 2 2 oz snacks. I know I am not hungry but I miss snacking. I do. But I know it is my head and not my tummy.

    Sleeved 3/19

I was sleeved on 3/18. My Doc will not allow me to have meat products until the soft phase. I cannot get down a whole protien shake but that is ok because they only want me to have 4 oz. of it. I am not permitted to drink a whole shake. I am only allowed to have 3 - 4 oz meals a day until the soft phase. Then I can have canned tunna, ground beef.. etc and laso 2 - 2 oz snacks. Usually they say if you can't tolerate then to go back to the previous stage for a few days and then try again. I have been fortunate and have had no issues. Also you may want to make sure you are only taking in 4 oz (using a measuring cup and not a food scale) Good luck!
  9. Wow 3/18 was a big day. Me too! I am not allowed any meats yet. Sunday will be a different story. Right now I am making mashed sweet potatoes sometimes mixing in some cottage cheese, eggs, creamed spinach (which left over mixed with the eggs is yummy, pastina, lentil soup home made and pureed, cream of broccoli soup, sweet potato and pear soup....

    Help Post Op Sleevers!

Well... I had my surgery the same day and it sounds like you are eating too much. I know everyone is different. I know that some people need to work themselves up to the 4 oz. Are you measuring? It is 4 oz as in a measuring cup and not a food scale. I don't know if that helps. As far as the black out, what were you doing when it happened? You were probably on all clears like me for 2 weeks right? Congrats on the loss

how long is the 3 week stall?

Thank you for this thread. I hit my 3 week mark and I have stalled at 26 lbs. On top of this I feel like I am going to get my period again which makes me feel bloated. I was beginning to feel a bit discourage. So much so I had a snack I shouldn't have had. Didn't get sick. I didn't go overboard but I am only supposed to have 3 meals and no snacks at this point. Watching my boyfriend snack on stuff really hasn't been helpful. I am not hungry but I just miss the social aspect. I have to get over it!

    I have some questions

What to bring with you? Well honestly don't bring much. You won't even bother because you will be just being in the moment feeling what you are feeling. I would bring PJ Pants and slip on slippers but I really didn't use those. Hospitals give you non slip socks and I just stuck with those. I didn't want to bother. I hated my IV so the idea of typing or texting didn't work for me. I left that for my mom and my boyfriend to do. They have toothpaste there. You will absolutely use that. The hospital gave me stuff to wash myself down but honestly I didn't want to do anything with that IV in. I waited until I got home. Other than chapstick that's about it. Don't go crazy bringing stuff. I did and it was a waste. Instead focus on what you need when you get home. Protien - I love Premeir. Make sure you can even have that the first 2 weeks. Most people are on clears for 2 weeks. Take care and good luck to you

    Bizarre trend?

Definitely good point. I know I miss just tearing into something but I did this because I know that I couldn't do it on my own. I needed outside help as a tool. Like I said everyone is different. I was out of the hospital the next day and the nurses were pleased and surprised at my bounce back. I did not need to ask for Morphine even though it was availalbe and some feel sick and can't even hold down their water. Everyone is different. I had no problem holding things down. I welcome the fact that I don't feel hungry and it helps me pass things up. Believe me you start to realize how head hungry you are instead of really being hungry.

    Bizarre trend?

I don't regret it. I have had an uneventful recover so far. A memorable but very few cases of the dry heaves in the hospital and 2 at home. SO far I am 28 lbs down and my surgery was March 18th. I am still feeling worn but that will go away. Don't let what others say sway you. Overall people don't regret unless they had complications. Everyone's body is different.

So optimistic. . . then kaploowey!

I understand. Yes they don't get it. Understand that if you were drenched she may be the girl to try to offer you a shirt that you or I could never fit into as we are now. Maybe she is just that humble. I would also get frustrated but maybe she didn't mean to be insensitive. She is only trying to relate to her own life experience. Just another angle of things.... I know a few women like this and they really do care about me when they act this way.. Congrats on the approval! Good luck!
