I have been eating mostly different kinds of fish with lots of lemons! It's my fav. But it taste so good I too find myself eating to fast, then it feels like it sits on top of the stomach for an hour. Will we retrain ourselves to eventually slow down? I hope it becomes habit soon. I am on my fourth week and can pretty much eatdo
everything i have tried so far. I just need to slow it down.

Thanks for sharing, I too am 6 months out. my biggest hurdle is chips. Nevet ate them much before, but sure sit and eat a half bagg if I let myself. I noticed after my surgery i craved more salt than i ever had, so I have to be careful.

I am 8 weeks post op. I bought the Kirkland brand multi grain flat rounds . I toasted it and made chicken salad, put a tomato slice and two slices of avocado
It was the first sandwich I had since before surgery, ate 3/4 of it and it tasted damn good. No problems after:) I think the key is to toast it so its not doughy.

It takes about a week, at least for me, before I felt like I could get a little more down. At this point just be sure you stay hydrated. That's the most important thing right after surgery. Try and drink a protein shake, I drink premier shakes from Costco. But you have to find one you like. Good luck and in a week or so you will be stronger and feeling much better:)

JP69 got a reaction from LifetimeLoser in First restaurant experience
My first experience last week was terrible. I thought they would have at least a Tuna melt on the menu, so I would take it off the bread, well they had nothing like that just big French dip sandwiches and burgers not even a grilled chicken sandwich. Everything was battered or deep fried. I ended up with a cup of homemade clam chowder, which I'm sure was a little heavy on the fat. But 4 bites and 4 saltines later I was stuffed:) Husband ate the rest.

I found that Iike things much more spicier than before. Also diet Snapples are to darn sweet, I have to cut them with water by half! Crystal light too. Used to make that a little sweeter than normal now I find myself cutting that also. I have also taken up salt which I didn't use much before, so I know I will have to be careful there. Other foods taste pretty much the same. Just glad I can eat almost regular foods now:) Still dying for fresh veggies and a good salad. That will be worth the wait.

Totally agree with Dalola's post. I'm only 8 days out and my habits
are turning a point. I am making dinner for family and I'm okay
with it. It gets much easier as time goes by, and it helped me to
have lots of classes and support groups before surgery.
    Good luck

Horray 4 u. Be sure to follow post op instructions. 6 weeks out and eating food. Very sm portions. To much or too fast feels like someone punched me in the chest from the pressure. Too fast, not chewed enough or too dense it is going to make you miserable until it comes up. Once up, comfort returns. If you are real unlucky, you will end up in ER. Slow, soft and healthy. You will have room and ease for high calorie easy foods (ice cream, chocolate, etc). Stay away or you will have spent all this time and energy for nothing. This is as much mental change as it is volume change. I luv ice cream. Not a lot, just a scoop will do me and frozen yogurt is fine too. It was an evening ritual. I have not had any! I get it out for my husband but do not touch. I like the scale needle sliding to the left instead of the right. Even just daring to get on a scale again in refreshing. I too had to go through a long time and many hoops for insurance, I have to make it worth all the time and effort. I want to be healthy most of all.
