I still have a root beer now and then. I love the flavor. It's diet and my Nut said to stir the carbonation out of it. I've given up so many other things I've enjoyed but if I can continue to enjoy root beer this way I will.

My nut told me if I wanted to drink diet sodas to stir the carbonation out first. Your stomach isn't as big so there is no place for the bubbles to go but up and she said some foam at the mouth.

I was only a few days out when my son brought donuts home and I just couldn't resist, I cut off a tiny piece and ate it and it hurt so it stopped me from eating anymore. But I totally understand, I get cravings for food that I've not had in awhile and want to eat it. I usually end up just tasting it for the flavor cause I know it's going to hurt. I'm 2 months out now and only drinking Protein Drinks and munching on whole wheat crackers when I need something crunchy, Not sure if they are good for me but they make me feel better.

Just ride it out..I went through the same thing after 2 weeks, I was getting depressed then talked to my Nut and she said that was normal, and not to worry about it. I started losing again when I was 4 weeks.

I know what you are going through, My son and his wife live with me and she is thin and can eat anything so she is always making pizza and bacon and eggs and the scent manages to make it to my bedroom and drives me nuts. lol. My son brought home doughnuts and she bakes cakes and Cookies with no regard to my feelings.. sighh But I decided to rent them my home and I'll look for an apartment. Guess being married you can't do that.. Good Luck..

I think we need positive views and suggestions, not negative. Many of us have been going through a lot of pain before as well as after our surgery and we want to read about the positive views from others. Or at least I do... I love hearing the success stories, not the name calling and whatever else nasty you have to say about others. We all want to be able to express our views without wondering who is going to make fun of us if we do, and there are some topics here that are hard to discuss or are for me...lol I wish all of you the best success on your surgery and anything you wish to try in your life. I know I've been given a second chance to change many things of my life and I am going to do it.. once I'm able. I do hope I can find others in my area that are looking for people to exercise with as I think that would be easier for me as well.
    It's all good...

I use my grandaughters baby spoons too, makes me more aware that I have to swallow less at a time. Guess I should use her sippy cup too as I still forget to take sips when drinking out of my normal glass lol

I use to get several pains, now I've figured out what each are and one for sure is hunger pains. When I get them I eat some greek yogurt or sip some cream of rice, doesn't take much to fill me up. I get horrible pains when I swallow Water or juices. I am 1 1/2 weeks out from surgery. I still can't get all the pills I"m suppose to take down. 11 to be exact. I see the Dr in a few days so will see what he has to say. Congrats on the weight loss

This is the almighty spoon I used to shovel food into my mouth with before and now I use my two year old's spoon to eat my yogurt. It just makes me laugh. I can't wait for my body to resemble the skinny spoon! hahahaha

I am not a big candy eater, but let me tell you when I am craving something - I need those flavors!!
Since being sleeved I have had to get creative with how I approach certain cravings. So, there I was last night craving something sweet, particularly a Butterfinger Candy bar. I knew I didn't need the sugars and junk in one but needed those flavors. Into the kitchen I went and here is the concoction I mixed up and OMG, tastes JUST LIKE a Butterfinger candy bar!
    Ingredients:
1 - 11 oz. chocolate Premier Protein shake
1 tbsp. sugar free, Fat Free Butterscotch pudding Mix
    1 tbsp. creamy Peanut Butter
1 tsp. instant coffee granules (you don't taste the coffee, just heightens the chocolate taste)
    Couple handfuls of ice
Throw all ingredients in a blender and/or bullet mixing system - mix well to incorporate all ingredients.
Wonderful, thick, creamy Butterfinger fix! Oh yeah!
Also, I had enough left over that I poured it into popsicle molds and froze for a quick treat later in the week!
    Enjoy!

Deanne reacted to LifetimeLoser in Post-Op Diet. I am 6 days out and I am starving. What can I eat?
    hello,
I am 5 days post op. I have a few times thought about something that I wanted to eat, but tried to remember that I am probably not really hungry. What helps me is I imagine actually putting that food in my mouth, chewing, and swallowing. I try to imagine how that will make me feel, and every single time it boils down to I probably will throw up. My insides are making some growling noises, but i think that is just some left over gas. I just make my liquids for the day and am always full when I think about it. It is going to take time and thought. I mean, for literally the past 11,000 days of my life I have eaten something. That is a tough habit to break. And it is a hard thought to wrap your mind around. Something you have done literally almost every day of your life, and now it is not part of your routine.
    Best of luck

Deanne reacted to Holly5.3 in Estrogen released from fat cells...who knew?
Hey ladies! For those of you experiencing symptoms similar to PMS (but no longer menstruate so it can't be) irritable, headaches, fatigue-I went to my family MD and she explained that estrogen gets stored in fat cells. When you lose fat rapidly, the estrogen is released into your system just like when ovulating. Thank God! I thought I was going crazy! However, Im still getting headaches, Tylonol isn't cutting it. Anyone with similar reaction to rapid weight loss? My surgery was last Oct and I've lost 54 lbs. since surgery. My sleeve gives me problems with a lot of foods so I eat very little still. Prefer Soups and yogurts (mushy stage) just so I don't feel horrible.

I woke up this morning with a terrible sinus headache and I've got pains in my stomach, not sure if they are gas pains, indigestion or I'm just hungry. Haven't eaten or sipped enough to make it pains from being too full. I took a Gas X and am waiting to see if any of the pain goes away. Honestly I don't know how to tell between the different pains inside to know what they are. Outside pains are where the main incision is and I know it has to heal on it's own. I guess next I'll try an antacid , but again not sure if it's ok to take 1 of each ( Gas and Antacid) at the same time.

I was sleeved on Jan 30th and just last night I noticed a horribly itchy rash on my inner thighs and neck, no where near my incisions or the surgical tape.
Is this a common thing - did it happen do any of you? How did you treat it?
Everything else is going so swimmingly, but this rash business is completely bizarre.
I plan on taking a half dose of benedryl before I go to sleep tonight and slathering on some hydrocortisone cream, but if anyone else has better ideas, please share!

First off Welcome to the sleeve side. Everyone is different when it comes to the pain and queezies. Everyday you should start feeling a little bit better than the day before. As for myself it took about 7 days until I started feeling like myself again. Hang in there it gets better just takes a little time :-). Feel free if you have any questions to ask, we are all here for support and to help educate each other. Remember to sip your fluids all day when possible and walk even around the house to help with the gas pain, oh I forgot take some GasX strips they also help.

Today is Monday! Surgery last Thursday. Thought I would die on Friday. Felt much better on Saturday and went home. Cleaned my house on Sunday. Drove my kids all over to sports and went to Target to get soft foods and chewable vitamins. Taking 1/2 the pain med dose at bedtime only. Feel fine. Had some Tums last night to relieve heartburn, but I am on pureed and had guac at the super bowl party. Drank Vitamin Water too! bI mean, I feel like resting, because resting helps to heal. I will rest most of this week, but the doc says cardio starts as soon as I can handle it- SLOW cardio. Yay!
Losing about a pound a day. Really need to up the Protein. Will get Syntha 6 tomorrow. That will encourage me cause it tastes great.Drinking 32 oz H20 and plan on doubling. Hard when there is no more gulping. This is way better than the lap band!
Very tired too, we do too much when we should lay low. We were cut on for goodness sakes. Lots of healing to be done!

The liquid vicodin kept me awake for 3 nights I finally went in to urgent care and got a prescription for Tylenol #3. I also learned to crawl in bed and not use my stomach muscles. I'd put my knees up on the bed and then lower myself down. It truly made a big difference. Here's to a speedy recovery.....
