Why the attack? The poor thing obviously didn't get much support from her doctors office and ate what she thought that she was allowed (Cream Soups were allowed for me early out...I had creamy potato in the hospital after my second surgery). I also gained not twenty, but FOURTY pounds in the first five weeks, so it's not impossible. I gained it because of my complications causing Fluid retention, then on TPN in hospital (IV's etc).
There's another thread where the poor gal posted her sisters tragic story and this same thing happened. She got beat to death when she just needed to share her story and was looking for help. If you don't believe the gal, WALK ON BY! Why do you have to beat her up.
I also did not have a leak test at the hospital. They are not a 100% guaranteed test given to everyone. What your doctor does Dawg is not what every doctor does. I see this time and time again here, that people boast they have the "top surgeon" one of the "top ten" and yet I see so many names of docs in that top ten that even my 20 years in banking is not necessary to see that there are over ten top tens out there LOL
This gal wanted help. Leave her be if you're only here to beat her up. Do you also stop and punch homeless people when you walk by you negative posters? Walk by!!!
OP, I was allowed cream soups and things as well but I was limited on the amount. For instance 18oz is just way way way too much for anyone when we're talking cream based soups (or any Soup really) and they are calorie packed. I'm wondering if you maybe need to work with a different nutritionist? Or also if you do have surgical issues to worry about. Did something go wrong? That could explain a weight gain.
I hope you get to the bottom of it and I'm sorry that you got goober here. People on this site don't like to read about the bad stories. They make it very clear and unwelcome sadly It's human nature I guess, but for those of us who suffered them, it's also very real and our stories should be heard as well. Intelligent people do want to hear them!

Well I'm sorry but I come to this forum to support people not to accuse them of lying. Geez, it's not a debate of truth or lies. It's supporting her during this trial. We could debate truth on every post on this forum. The point is we are speaking with her on the benefit of the doubt. We are perfectly aware that we are only speaking with her thank you

I was a regular on the band site and people definately were not so negative. Who knew posting your story in a SUPPORT forum would bring out so much nonsense.

I guess I see a real benefit with the 6 month program with Kaiser. One of the requirements is to attend a support group session. I went to my first one in October and have continued to go to them (it's on a monthly basis). My surgery is not til Feb 21st. A suggestion is to try googling your area for a support group and if you can't find one, I think this site is a start. I find it very helpful to hear other patients that have gone to the same surgeon tell me their experiences.
Good luck with finding the surgeon you're comfortable with.

You're smart to go to another consult. This is a life-changing decision, and you need to feel comfortable going into it! You had valid questions and were being smart enough to think about your life after sleeve, you should get answers that assure you!
Dana's right -- I get it that a surgeon cannot be all things to all people, but I think a really good surgeon should know the importance of surrounding himself with a team of qualified, quality people who can help you feel comfortable with your decision. Maybe he does just think of his patients as warm bodies....but if he's not a 'people person' , he should have a coordinator or NP or NUT or director or someone that is able to relate to you as a person.
Amazon13 is right -- go with your gut feeling. I personally chose my surgeon because he has a big team and a whole comprehensive program to help ensure my long term success. Him cutting my tummy is just the beginning of a big process that will involve psych/ NUT/ exercise counseling AND support groups.
I know your mom was probably joking about the alcoholic remark, but honestly (and I don't mean to be a bummer) I think that without the proper emotional / mental support, there actually is a danger that WLS folks can turn to alcohol to replace their food addiction. I haven't seen too too much about it on VST but have read about it elsewhere. . .I think it's called 'transfer addiction' and it's real for WLS patients, so something to keep in mind. . .

I think most surgeons are a little distant from their patients....I even joked about it to my surgeon and he laughed and agreed good naturedly. I have not even seen my surgeon since my surgery. Hell, I did not even see him the day of my surgery! In my practice, basically everything goes through the nurse practitioner and nutritionist after surgery (and definitely before surgery). They run the show.
If it was me, I'd choose the best surgeon as long as his staff was interested and engaged.

Okay so I say go with your gut. If you really don't like the surgeon go find another. Though in my experience most of them are this way. As far as the wrinkly skin goes, I have alot of wrinkly, sagging skin and I would have this anyday over being fat; clothes work wonders!!

KarissaKhaso, what the "administration" of these forums supports is the enforcement of our forum rules, which are located here:
    http://www.verticals...tion=boardrules
Those rules express how everyone has a right to post, regardless of perspective. They also say "We take the "Be Polite" rule very seriously. We do not tolerate any rudeness. Any member who is intentionally unpleasant or disruptive may be banned without warning." And, they state, "Members will treat each other with courtesy and respect, especially when they disagree. We understand that bright, intelligent and educated people may not always agree, but personal attacks in the form of insults, abusive language or other means of obvious harassment will not be tolerated."
Now, asking when one may drink alcohol is not a violation of the forums rules. However, calling people ignorant, pathetic and other names is.

Perhaps you did not see my warning regarding members who cannot disagree in a respectful manner without calling people names or violating other forum rules? I suggest you review our rules.
    Thank you.

It's not so much a matter of being secretive for me. I have only told my mom, husband, 1 co-worker and my boss. I just don't want to deal with their negativity, doubts, etc. I want to get used to my sleeve in my own time. Once I start losing weight I have no problem telling anyone who asks! (I agree that it's good to educate people because there is a lot of negative WLS stigmas and misinformation out there!) I just think it's a personal choice and probably has to do with insecurity (personally anyways!). How many diets/programs have we tried over the years and failed? I don't want that hanging over my head ANYMORE!

I really don't understand everyone being so secretive. You should not be ashamed about making this choice you should be proud about making the decision to better your life. If people are judgemental about it that is their problem. It's reality I'm fat and out of shape and I need to do something about it. I tell everyone pretty much everyone is supportive and is excited for me and the ones that have said I should just lose the weight with just diet and excerise, I very kindly explain that I've been trying to diet for the last 15 years and looks where is has gotten me. And then also through out there if they would like to put a 100lb fat suit on and race me up the stairs and see how easy it is. Which usually gives them a reality check. I also think by telling everyone I have a better chance of not failing. More friends and family and coworkers to keep me on track. You would be amazed how many people have already had weightloss surgery. Good luck everyone.
