OK - I need to read more carefully. At first I thought you were saying you ate Kit Kats for your pre-op diet. I was sooooo jealous.

Had surgery yesterday, feeling good today. No nausea or vomiting (so far). Just tired because I never get a good nights sleep in hosp. Im just watching tv and sipping away. Been for a little walk and had a shower. This is heaps easier than I was expecting, so i guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Hope you are all doing well, check in with us when you feel up to it

Hi everyone!! I'm Stephanie, 31 years old and mom to 5 yr old Aubreanna and I also have a 19 yr old step daughter. In my mid twenties I started to gain here and there and never lost it. After having my daughter my weight was out of control. My little sister also passed away and I didn't care about anything. My weight ballooned to 250. My doctor was actually the one who suggested surgery. It was always in the back of my mind, but I felt like I could lose it on my own. I started dieting in November 2012 and got a personal trainer. I only lost 15 lbs and I tried so hard without success. That was why I decided to take my dr's advice. Best decision. One month post op and I currently weigh 218. Would not be able to do that on my own. Thanks for reading.

Hi Everyone! I'm Sarah and I'm being sleeved on the 22nd!!! And I'm like most other people been heavy my whole life but it really skyrocketed when I got pregnant with my first son who is now 10. I gained 100lbs with that pregnancy and I was sure I would be having a 70lbs baby lol. Needless to say he wasn't. So I lost like 30-40 of that and then got pregnant again and I was doing great at keeping the weight gain minimal until they found a tumor in my spinal cord. So I had to have major surgery at 5 months pregnant and then had to learn to walk again and so then the weight piled on again. I was around 275 when I gave birth the second time. Then for the next 7 years I lost and gain the same 50lbs over and over again. We then decided to have one more baby and I wanted to be done having babies at the age of 30. I was 20 with my first one. So at 29 I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on 11-11-11 at that so she has a unique birthrate. But I gained around 30lbs and was right around 315-320 when I had her. So now I'm done having kids and I'm doing something for myself. I am currently 31yrs old, 5'3", and 300lbs. I can't wait to start losing and getting the old me back!! I am setting 25lb goals. I think they might be easier to achieve but ultimately I would like to be around 150-145. Good luck to everyone!!!

So sorry that you are going through this. I really hope that time allows it to correct itself and that you feel better soon. I'm about 2 weeks pre-op and stories like yours scare me but it's good to know the risks and go into this eyes wide open. Hope you feel better asap!!!!

Just had my five month anniversary a week ago and an down 115 from surgery and 140 total. I can't tell you in how many ways my life has changed. I could have filled a legal pad with uncomfortable and embarrassing moments in my life because of my weight. People I have known for 10 years don't recognize me when I see them, that feels awesome! I have had to buy new clothes, I fit differently behind the steering wheel of my car. It goes on and on. I know a lot of people say they wish they would have done it sooner. My opinion on that is you do it when you are ready and embrace it! I was finally mentally ready to climb this mountain and I know that is why I have been so successful. Good luck to you all and I hope this post might help one person,

Brooke....I'm a May 2012 sleever. All I can say is....best decision I ever made. This whole time, my mantra has always been "think where you'll be a year from now." Every time I things got tough, that's what I told myself. I've been telling myself that since I started my 6 month supervised diet way back in November 2011. I kept saying it right through the pre op diet, and the post op liquids. Still telling myself that.
But here it is getting close to a year post op and I feel like I have a new life. Yes, I'm still me...with all the flaws and stresses that come with that. But so many doors are open now that weren't before. And I have more hope for the future than I ever thought possible. I am brimming with optimism and enthusiasm. No more hiding, no more excuses.
Yes it takes work. It is certainly not "easy." There are times when you're going to want to take a hammer to your scale. And there are going to be times when you'll want to drown your frustrations in a plate full of unhealthy food. But you fight those battles and prevail. And one day, maybe this time next year, you wake up and realize that you are a new person in a new body with a new attitude. Makes everything worthwhile.

I didn't tell anyone I work with. I only told my hubby and best friend. I didn't want the judgement, attitude or opinions of others who had no idea what it is like to be morbidly obese. I'm glad I didn't tell. When people ask, I tell them I am eating far less calories which are 90% Protein and exercising regularly. Both of which are 100% truthful.
I wasn't embarassed about the actual surgery, I was embarassed that I had let myself get to the point of needing surgery. I'm so glad I have my sleeve now.
    Best of luck to you!

Hi Everyone! Just wanted to check back in at 9 months post op to say life is FABULOUS! I had my sleeve in Aug 2012 and had a complication free experience. Aside from occasional nausea, I haven't experienced any real negative side effects. I work out 5 times a week with weights and cardio. I had a breast reduction and lift on Friday and I can't believe how amazing I feel. I started my journey at 5'6" 235 lbs. I'm now 160, with a goal weight of 145. I've attached updated pics, although they are pre breast reduction. So, now I look and feel slimmer. Anyhow, just wanted to share a positive, complication free experience. Dr. Mueller in San Diego is excellent! Good luck everyone! Oh and take your vitamins!!

I know! I love THAT Cancun too! I start my Pre-op "liver shrink" diet in two days. I will be on that for 12 days, then the next day - surgery! I am so excited and it is so weird because I'm not scared or nervous at all. I just CAN'T WAIT! I am going to MX because I am a self-pay. I researched for about 2 years before I finally decided to go for it and during that time the whole WLS focus changed from Lapband to VSG - so really I'm glad I waited (procrastinated) because the sleeve is a much better option for me.

Oh em gee! Nothing has ever felt better. (Don't tell my husband I said that!)
Surgery went well today! The only pain I have so far is the gurgles when I chew ice is sip Water. You'd think I just swallowed a packet of pop rocks from the sound of it. The burps aren't actually surfacing for the most part, though, just lingering in my throat. I did finally emit one on a walk and it was heavenly. Ahhhhh...
I only had one complication. Doc found a large mass on my liver that he removed. It was about 2 inches by 2 inches. (Whuck?). Fortunately, there was a liver cancer doc in the OR who said he was sure it was benign but if course, it was sent off and we will know in three or four days. Until then we have no idea what it is so......we wait.
No nausea, no cramping, very little pain, I'm ready to go home!

^ those Protein shots are not made of quality Protein. They are made with collagen and not whey. Your body does not process collagen the same way as whey isolate and will flush it through. Don't waste your money.
Go with powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury (unjury.com) or Syntrax's nectar sweets (vitacost.com or vitaminshoppe) they are smooth and palatable and easy to mix with yogurts, cottage cheese, Water, milk, kefir, pudding...

My husband, in no way wanted me to have this surgery! But I asked him please just come to the consultation with the surgeon with me.
After we left the surgeons office he knew everything he needed to know (including my true weight) he was able to have all his questions answered and has been my biggest supporter since
I'm glad he's coming tonight and good luck to you!

First congratulations on the weight loss!! I am glad you are in therapy to improve yourself. the most impossible thing we can do is change another person. When someone is not happy with them selves/low self esteem, feeling of being out of control they look for a partner who they can control. MAYBE he felt he could control you because he felt out of control now your attitude is changing you are feeling better about yourself and he feels he is loosing you/control. I was a domestic violence advocate (and also divorced) for a number of years and domestic violence is not just a black eye it is also emotional/psychological abuse. examples Not being there for your partner, not having a mutually beneficial relationship (give and take),withholding emotions-feelings, withholding sex or making the other person feel bad about wanting or desiring sex. I am NOT saying you are in an abusive relationship but I am trying to provide some insight into what one might look like and yes every relationship is different. Abusive relationships of any kind just don't change overnight but they can change if both parties want too. Good luck. Make your own goals and decide what makes you happy.

MizzouGirl reacted to magpie30 in 3 days out and in minor pain
I was sleeved March 6th and the first 2 weeks were the worst. As far as pain, the first few days were the worst, and i think i stopped taking pain meds altogether the end of the first week. I took them regularly the first 2 or 3 days, then, it was mostly at night, because laying down hurt to much, and i wasn't getting good rest sleeping sitting up on the couch. I didn't have much in the way of gas pain fortunately. I mostly felt tired and just wanted to sleep. After the first week i felt a lot better, but the second week was hard with the liquid diet, and head hunger and trying to get in all the Water and Protein etc. But after those first 2 weeks it started to get easier. Now I am 2 months out and doing great! I have no problems getting in my water or protein, i can eat most foods with no issue and i feel better than i have in years! Hang in there, it gets a LOT better!!!

I was self pay and the cost included up to two nights in the hospital, I only stayed one. I CHOSE to stay one. Like you, I had surgery at 7 AM on a Friday and I stayed until about 4PM on Saturday afternoon. I felt good enough to leave. I rested better at home and I had NO concerns, or else I would have stayed another night. I had been able to use the bathroom, sip broth and Water and passed the leak test. I had a one week check up at Dr. Davidson's office, he took part of the staples out and then I had another follow up at 2 weeks. That is when he took out the rest of them. I hope this helps!!!
