Not a chance I would do this. It won't be that long until regular food is back in my diet. I'm following my dr's orders without deviation.

When I was in the hospital, the nurse told me about a patient who decided to eat Pasta 2 weeks post surgery. The person came into the emergency room with severe abdominal pain and they did everything possible but the patient passed away. They said that his stomach was full of pasta and had caused a leak that couldn't be repaired. The kicker - he was a nurse and should have known better. The story scared me to death and really emphasized the importance of following my surgeon's food plan.

At 3 days post op, I probably got a little more Water and a little less Protein than you list but close. I'm 13 days post op and I'm still struggling to get all my protein and water but it gets a little better each day. You are doing great and know that each day, you will feel just a bit better and be able to do a little more!!!

MizzouGirl reacted to LipstickLady in New Food Find! Especially for my full liquid friends...
I am not a big yogurt fan, but it's obviously become a staple in my life this last month. I am allowed smooth, no lump, greek yogurt as part of my full liquid phase so I've obviously been stuck with vanilla 75% of the time. I've been eating Dannon Fit and Light, Greek, Double Protein at 80 calories and 12 grams of Protein.< /p>
The other day, while stocking up at Walmart, I found the new Dannon Blends line. It includes Orange Cream, Key Lime, Coconut vanilla, and banana Cream. I have had all of them but the Orange and they are delicious. I am not a huge coconut fan (I'm a liker not a lover) and it's subtle but good. This line isn't overly sweet and you can't really taste the Greek in it.
What a great choice! SO much better than another chocolate Protein shake. Blurp.

Totally normal! I was so ready for this surgery and then I started thinking about my kids, I kept thinking -- dear God I don't want my mother-in-law raising them, if something happened to me.

I was sleeved July 9, 2012. And down 105 lbs. I was watching TV with my 4 Year old niece and they were advertising exercise equipment. They showed a woman holding up her old huge pants and Anna said like Cynthia.

I have about 7 "call the authorities because this woman is clearly in a domestic situation" bruises on the backs of both my arms. That's where they injected the blood thinner every 8 hours for the 3 days I was there. You forget they are there until someone's sweet granny walks up and says "be strong, you can leave" and walks away.

MizzouGirl reacted to gmanbat in NSV...worked like a 20 year old..
I went to work for my nephew who has a Deck and Dock business here in Tampa, Florida. He needed help packing Water retainers in 2 backyards. The job consisted of a dump truck dropping a huge mound of dirt in the driveway, the dirt being shoveled into heavy wheel barrows and wheeled to the backyard and dumped into the form, and then tamped down with a heavy tamper....all day.
I worked 6-7 hours a day, Monday- Wednesday with 2 guys in their 20's in 93 degree humid Florida air. My young fellow workers complained the whole time and took frequent breaks, even took off to McDonalds to "go to the bathroom". Old Gman just kept plodding along only stopping for Water and a Peanut Butter sandwich. I told them stories of my long life and had great fun with them.
It's been a year and a half since my surgery. I have lost 85 pounds since then, 115 all together. Before the surgery I could barely walk up the stairs. I have been working out for the last year, stepping up the intensity every chance I could. I didn't know if I could do this job, working out is quite different from working all day in blazing hot sunlight and stifling humidity.
    I stood the test. I am 64.

I only had bruising low on my stomach where I received the blood thinner shots -- bad, ugly bruising. I'm 12 days post op and they are starting to fade a bit. No bruises from the actual surgery - guess I was lucky with that.

So my journey began about a year and some change back in may 2012 i try to regularly exercise and do the gym thing i was about 410 lbs overweight had very high blood pressure that was the life i was accustom to than i tore my acl had to get it reconstructed so i had to get physical therapy during this time i gain about another 35 pounds. At this point both my doctors recommended me for an bariatic program and recommend i try dr .greene and thier weight loss program. I was a bit skeptical of surgery since i just came out of knee surgery so when i start their diet program began losing weight i knew i was in good hands when i 1st went dr. greene i was about 450 i began the process of changing my life i had this expectation of getting a lap band but with the knowledge ive gain and thier reccomendation i began leaning towards a sleeve so about 7- 8 months went by i lost about 110 pounds on my own than i was approved for surgery last month may so i schedule my surgery for june. as time got closer i began having my doubts and didn't know how i was gonna survive my 2week pre op liquid diet, especially after buffalo wild wings just open near my job so i was about 3 days b4 surgery was i was gonna call and cancel i wasn't sure i ready for this life change than i saw a video of a guy who was asked any regrets on getting the sleeve and he answer "i just wish i got it sooner" after that i got the courage to have the surgery to on 6/5/13. Ever since the surgery im loving the change i have no regrets im already down 36 pounds current 311 not even a week im use this tool to bring that person i been hiding all this time and acquire the life i always wanted im 24 and can't wait for this restart for me ^^ i hope this any1 i just thought would share.

My follow up is on Thursday. I meet with my NUT on Saturday to get ready for weeks 5 and beyond. According to my NUT schedule weeks 3&4 is the purée stage. Base on that it appears that I can incorporate more variety. There is some light peeking through. Have you all started on your recipes or menus for the purée stage? Do share?

MizzouGirl reacted to BigDaddyJoe in How has VSG Affected your Marriage?
This is a tough one. My wife worried about this a lot. We have personally seen weight loss surgery destroy relationships of people we knew. Mostly because one person had newfound confidence, and ended up going out with friends a lot more, which led to adulterous situations. My wife and I were both sleeved, exactly 6 weeks apart (me - 03/08/13, her - 04/19/13). Our relationship is solid, but it hasn't been an intimate relationship for some time, for whatever reasons (3 kids and being too tired all the time being a major one). I am hoping that we can somehow get our 'groove' back, and improve that aspect of our relationship. The desire is there, at least on my end, and I believe on hers, but it just isn't as easy as it should be. Things have been the way they are for a while now, and it is hard to just flip a switch and change them. I don't even know how to initiate things anymore. I'm keeping my hopes up, and we'll see how it goes.
