Its only been a couple days, but, my focus on food has transferred to liquids. It's just such a fight to get the amount of liquids you need in, there's not much room to think about anything else because it takes so long to get the necessary amount in. I don't feel hungry but I dont feel full, I don't really feel anything in my stomach right now except gurgling. For the first time in my life it's just a body part of mine.

I agree. I am a stepmom myself. My stepson has a mom, and I've never tried to usurp her role, but that does not mean I don't play a part in helping to raise him. He's my family...

BamaGirl26 reacted to zoekids in Don't be jealous because I know I will hit a road bump in the future, but so far it has been easy
Yep, you read that right. I really haven't run into any real problems.
I am 1.5 weeks out from Surgery and things have been smooth.
-- No major pain after surgery, other than my wrist arm swelling from the vein they blew -- still hurts
    -- No major gas pain
    -- No nausea
-- No close calls with throwing up
-- Able to drink fluids relatively easily, albeit slowly
-- Moved to full liquids per my Dr's plan easily
-- I am getting 60+ grams of Protein, and close to the 64 oz of Fluid (remembering to sip Water and waiting the 30+ minutes after is annoying)
-- Since moving to full liquids, I am been getting 600 to 700 calories in, is that too much?
-- Finally lost the Water weight gain plus, and an additional 4.2 lbs since the surgery for a total of nearly 12 lbs
-- Traveled to my client site and worked pretty much my same routine of super fulls days, i.e, 10+ hours (yes, I did crash as soon as I got back to the hotel)
Now, for the minor complaint, when will my wrist along the vein stop hurting? It hurts to stretch the arm out and to touch it.
OK, I know I will hit a stall, I am thinking moving to more solid foods might present a problem, I just know I will hit a road bump at some point and will be on here asking for help. But, until then, pre-op patients, please know that the ride can be smooth. I know so far I have been one of the lucky ones. Thank you to who ever is watching out for me, I really appreciate it.

i work out 5 times a week including twice a day on the weekends, also i hike often and i do the "Culver city stairs" which is like a mountain with stairs going up forever, i mean there are so many darn stairs and i do that every weekend. . i am eating my Protein Shakes for Breakfast or i may have quinoa with dried cranberries and egg then for snack, i have string cheese or fruit or Protein Bars and another shake for dinner. i dont count calories because i am very active and i pay attention to my body. i eat small Snacks in between meals and i drink nothing but Water or crystalite. As soon as i feel satisfied, i stop eating. And i carry healthy snacks where ever i go. I love salad and my fridge is packed with left overs because i stop eating not when i am full but when i am satisfied. i LOVE my sleeve!

I figured I'd do a little update. 3 months ago today I had VSG with Dr ponce de leon in Tijuana. I'm down 51 pounds since surgery day. Seriously best decision I've ever made. No regrets whatsoever. None. I was SO scared pre surgery. I knew that the odds were in my favor but it's hard not to go into a surgery without thinking "what if". I hardly slept the night before. But it went very well for me, I woke up in recovery a little uncomfortable but ready to start walking asap. There was pain, but not cry out loud pain. And even that was gone within 2 days. I remember sleeping a lot the first few weeks, but I will use any excuse for a nap The post op diet went well, I'm now on full solids and I can tolerate mostly anything. My body does let me know if I eat too fast or too much, it's not very pleasant. I've gotten the "slimies" a few times, blech. food wise, a small quantity of Protein fills me up quickly. Sometimes I can't eat an entire egg. A few bites of chicken and I'm full. I can pack in a lot of carbs though, they go through very easily so I have to stay away or carefully portion them out. Other than that, my energy is good, my back has stopped hurting me when I walk, I can now walk miles without pain, and I can stand in place without my lower back screaming at me. I'm sure my spine thanks me.

One lously little week to go and I'm so excited. This weekend, we finish cleaning up the house. Is it crazy I'm too superstitious to actually start packing the suitcase until Tuesday when I have my pre-op? I have the stuff I want to take ready and just sitting in a plastic bag, but nothing is together and organized. I'm just ready more so than ever to get in there and get this over with! And it just seems like the days can't move along fast enough.

Surgery done today too and like Stacey says its hard to believe its done. Well except for the fact that I have had not one hunger pane yet (amazing) I did have gas really bad but I got up an hour after I was in my room and started walking 15-20 mins every hour and they were gone! I feel great I have no pain ( maybe cause of the push button Morphine) but no complaints here. The room and staff here is amazing I have a large private room with a giant walk in shower! So besides being so excited to begin this journey I am Gucci!!!

I can't believe my surgery is over! Funny enough it didn't hit me until a few hours after that whoa, my entire life is changed. There's no changing my mind or giving up, etc. Im ready to get everything healed so I can starting kicking some ass! The surgery itself was pretty standard. Doc was pleased I lost 13lbs in the 10 day pre-op diet. I wiggled myself out of the bed and onto the operating table.. Felt like 3 seconds later and I'm waking up in recovery! Pain meds are a godsend right now but no gas discomfort surprisingly. It gets better every hour!

Well surgery went great. Sitting in the hospital room feeling a little bit tired but doing great. I hope everybody else had surgery today is doing just as well as me. Pain is at six but I think it's more discomfort and pain. God bless everyone else had surgery. Really tired but happy.

Hi guys my name is Kerry and I live in Maryland. my date was February 6th ....Thats right!!.. I am offically sleeved!! Surgery day weight was 203.6 and a today I was 208.6. This gain is totally normal as they will pump you with fluids after surgery. I was self pay as i have no health issues other than obesity however my gall bladder needed to be removed so my cost was reduced tremendously. Unfortunatley when they got inside they found an additional hiatal hernia which had to be repaired. Yesterday I was miserable and was put on Morphine. I slept most of theday/evening and basically had only a few ice chips. This pain was not from the VSG surgery but from the hernia repair in which they had to stitch my diaphram. Ouch. Today was a entirely different story! I woke up feeling much better, walked several times, and consumed 30 ounces of liquid. I was sent home! Yes..i am snuggled up in my own bed recovering nicely and a walking on the tread mill every 5hours. I do have walgreens coming tomorrow to administar iv fluids (they sent me home with mine still in) for the next three days and will be administering Lovenox myself in the stomach for the next 12 days. All in all it was a seemless procedure minus the additional hernia repair which caused most of the pain. I have no difficulties with the liquid and am able to do 4 ounces every 20 minutes. I am alternating b/nprotein shake and g2 to get the right balance of Protein and carbs. I am excited about starting the second part of my journey... A new slimmer and healthier me! Good luck to all you february sleevers! Ill be thinking of you!!!

Today is Day 5 for me. Yes, it's tough. I have no energy. I'm chewing gum a lot and it seems to be helping. I just realized this morning that I'm dehydrated and need to drink more. I'm not allowed to let anything solid pass my lips except a Protein Bar once a day. The rest is all clear liquids. I'm with you. But I keep thinking about the end result. I don't want to do anything to jeopardize my health or the surgery.
