I was very fortunate... I had more soreness than actual pain... the worse part was coughing... but within 5 days I was much better... take solace in the fact that it does get better...

Breakfast: eggs (, cheese, veggies, mango salsa, chicken sausage) or Protein shakes with chia
    Snack: a Protein shake
Lunch: chicken patty or chicken meatballs ( from Costco), seaweed salad. Sometimes left overs from a previous dinner. Snack: a chicken hotdog (about 3 oz and from Costco), seaweed wafers
Dinner: lots of different " cooking light" recipes. Most revolve around chicken or shrimp, seafood salad, veggies (sautéed, grilled, steamed).
My wife does her bet to help me out with dinner and does a great job. When I go out I try to evaluate menu options and pick something low in fat, carbs and calories. I do mess up on occasion but because something that looked really healthy was not!
I do not eat processed, fruit or bread foods nor do I eat sweets or pastries. Seem to be ok without them and do not even think about it nor do I miss them. I get most of my core nutritional needs from a handful of different pills in the morning ( Calcium chew throughout the day).
Overall I am happy with both progress and energy that this type of eating gives me after 6 months ( been eating this way from month 2). I am close to goal and am about 6.5 months out. My total loss is about 175 lb ( start 360 lb, current : 183 lb). This includes a month of weight loss before surgery.
My wife has also found eating the same foods for dinner, but in larger portions, is helping her lose weight. She no longer eats the same amount (very little in fact) of bread. I can usually eat 4 oz of a Protein and 1 oz of veggie. More than that and I am sliming. Not worth it. I drink 100+ ounces Water a day. Protein ends up being 120-150 grams a day. I also run 3-5 miles every other day, lift every other day and follow an intense workout with my morning shake to help recovery for next run. I love my weekly starbucks grande skinny lattee. I am definitely a coffee advocate(both my dr and NUT allow it).
    Hope this helps.

I'm on 600-700 a day and I walk 30 minutes at least a day I don't do shakes I try to get all my protein in by my meals because I hate the shakes my doctor says that fine ant encourages me to get at least 45-50 a day if I'm not doing the shakes I get it on average 52-60 protein a day. I was sleeved on Dec 6th and am down 35 lbs and feeling great I eat oatmeal/cream of wheat, chicken/fish and spinach and Greek yogurt When I need extra calories I eat a ounce of 2% cheese it also increases my protein. I am on 3 meals and a snack a day i eat every 4 hours and I always get in at least 71.1 ounces of Water a day.

I'm a 12/5 sleever and I lost quickly... hit a stall... gained 2 lbs... then lost 4... gained 2 of them back and the scale hasn't moved in almost 2 weeks... Maybe I should try and up my calories for a few days...just to make sure my body knows it isn't being starved... I am managing to get in 700-800 cals and but I keep coming in shy of 60 grams of Protein ...
I sometimes think about giving up but... I've had surgery... give up how? it is what it is... and I am going to make the best of it...

Perfectly normal. You really don't have anything in you, so in one end, out the other. It will solidify as you move on to puree and soft foods, then you will have quite the opposite problem once you go to solid Proteins. The way I got my liquids in is I always carried something with me and just made myself sip it every 5 minutes. Also, I found warm or hot liquids much easier to stomach at that stage than cold. Good luck!

I have a Krispy Kreme donut every now and then. I dont deprive myself. That is not why I had this surgery. I started this journey at a size 24 and now I am a size 8 and counting down. I always eat Protein first and treat myself usually one day a week. So far so good. Good luck to you.

Am I the only one that is scared they will be the one person the sleeve doesnt work on? I have failed so many diets that Im scared of failing this too. It seems that noone in my life can understand that. They are like here try this or you can have a taste! Im not sure what I can do to make them inderstand that it is different now. If we live in the same house and have seen this transition there is no excuse in not understanding. Sorry for venting. Im just scared of failure. Now my significant other thinks im taking it too far when I dont want to get over 20 carbs a day.

ooooh... emotional wreck... that explains me lately... I get so angry... with everything! I've only lost a few lbs in the scheme of things but who knew that fat was a factor when it comes to hormones and emotions? I wish someone had warned me...
I pray we make it through this stage soon...
    Peace

I named mine "Mama" cuz she seems to run things...lol She was born 12/5... started out at 340... did the 6 mth (which turned into 8 mths) plan for BCBS... at first consult with the surgeon, I was at 320... day of surgery, I was 304.5... I was so excited when I left the 3's and came to the 2's...I am trying to adjust to this new way of eating and to this new body...I wish you well on your journey... and yes... pretty soon, those pants will fit!
    God bless!

I realize I didn't fully count up the costs before I had surgery... I need shoes... all of my shoes are too big... I'm glad its winter and I can get away with boots... and my grocery bill is higher... making sure to have Protein rich Snacks and foods is expensive... and I have to feed 3 other people than myself...kids will eat you out of house and home! Even with all this... I don't regret having the surgery... I have more energy... and I am no longer on blood pressure meds... monthly savings right there... but all the Vitamins and supplements I am taking... I don't actually save anything... still its worth it all...

DeeBrownBaker got a reaction from MrsGina in Did anyone NOT lose weight after surgery?
boy... I felt the same... I hit a stall and actually GAINED 2 lbs... once I started watching my carbs and getting my fluids in, I dropped to the weight I am now...I understand that stalls happen and it's part of the process... I was also losing inches... and my clothes were fitting loosely even during the stall so I know SOMETHING was still happening... be patient, follow the plan and you will lose...and don't worry about what everyone else is losing... this journey is personal and your sleeve will do for you what you need it to do...don't lose heart!

Try teas, too. Either Decaf green/black/white or herbal teas are great. I drank nothing *but* Water before surgery and now I can't stand it any more, but I love tea.

Im sorry for your sister... but your "scare tatic" should be to warn people to research the Docs they choose... what happened to your sister sounds like Malpratice to me... I hope you got a good attorney.
People that make this choice usualy do TONS of searching for the right Docs, the right Hospitals. It sounds like your sister made a bad choice and is now paying for it... THAT is the message you should be telling people about.
