Hi! I'm Kim, 42y/o. I had my VSG on Feb 4th. Today marks one week! Day of surgery I weighed 308 (I lost 150 pounds pre-op). Weighed in today at 295! Whoohooo! I have followed my diet plan and made sure to get in all my supplements, Vitamins, and protien. I feel good, and I'm walking over an hour each day. I think losing weight before surgery has helped me immensely! Trying to enjoy my Decaf coffee is my biggest struggle...and the lovenox blood thinner shots! I hate those! Here's to all of you working it! Congrats!

hi Guys, I had my surgery 2/7 and came home yesterday. I didn't exactly bounce back from surgery nicely, but as everyone says, it seems to get better each day. I gained about 8 lbs of Fluid in the hospital. I think some of the swelling is going down, because I am getting liquids down pretty well. The area to the right of my navel is swollen/numb and the only pain I really have left is on the right side of my abdomen. I have been coughing up some mucus, and I'm thinking it's related to my chronic sinus issues (hopefully). Has this happened to anyone else?
Tummy is rumbling like crazy, and it feels like it's all pressured up in there. I've found that a heating pad has helped me get some of the gas out. Hopefully tomorrow will be better and I can have a good BM soon. Either way, I am feeling very blessed!
I'm lucky to have a sleeve buddy who I met on here who is the same BMI, age, surgeon, and surgery date. She was right across the hall in the hospital, too!

Congrats to the Feb sleevers. I said I'd never do this and so glad I did. Almost 9 weeks out and now 66 years old. I remember the first time I walked after surgery and my daughter was telling me to open my eyes and not try to walk with them closed.loys of hurdles but you will be do proud of what you have accomplished !!

I my name is Palmer and I had the procedure Feb 5, 2013. It was the best decision I made. The doctor found two additional critical health issues that needed to be corrected while he was doing the procedure. I would have never known about the health issues without the procedure and the contributing factor was my obesity. I am so glad I made the decision to have the surgery.

By now you've learned that all we do is poop the first two weeks after that we can't poop any more without assistance,
The first weeks we question things like "did they take out enough of my stomach, cause I'm still hungry"
We all look for ways to get "permission" to eat things we can't. And when we don't do it we judge other people because we are hungry
Oh and about four weeks out we get grumpy.
And some of us run around here causing all sorts of trouble!
But we all want to succeed and we want others to succeed !!!

Just wanted to say that I was sleeved on February 6th, and that everything went well. I won't lie, it was pretty scary, but the pain afterwards has not been very bad. I don't seem to be having that terrible gas pain that everyone talks about. I do feel it, and have some slight discomfort when it moves around, but it makes its way out pretty quickly. My worst moments were extreme nausea afterward, which we think was caused by the pain pump, as I haven't had any since I went off of it. The nausea felt horrible and was terrified because I came so close to wretching so many times and I felt like my insides were just going to shred when I did. Thankfully, I went from normal to DEFCON 5 nausea once right in front of the surgeon when he came by, so we got that taken care of right away. It's looking like I'll be discharged tomorrow. I'm scared of being discharged and driving three hours away to get home, but I'm also kind of sick of being here. RIght now, my most severe pain is my butt! It's is just aching from laying in this bed so much, and I can't get comfortable at all to sleep. I have a very cushy recliner at home that is calling my name. I'll just miss having the nurses and the amazing hospital ice. Haven't had any other liquids besides ice chips and sugar free popsicles yet. Let me correct that. THE BEST EVER TASTING SUGAR FREE POPSICLES. Seriously made my day when the nurse brought me one. The most severe pain I had post-op was actually my throat. It was dry and swollen from the tube and just a wreck. Swallowing was almost impossible, but the popsicles helped that better very quickly. I'm supposed to try a tray later today with broth, Jello, Protein, or whatever else they bring along. Kind of scared to do that, and the idea of drinking protein right now makes me want to cry, because I just don't like it and it made me feel icky pre-op. But, I know I have to, so I'm just going to do it.

Surgery done today too and like Stacey says its hard to believe its done. Well except for the fact that I have had not one hunger pane yet (amazing) I did have gas really bad but I got up an hour after I was in my room and started walking 15-20 mins every hour and they were gone! I feel great I have no pain ( maybe cause of the push button Morphine) but no complaints here. The room and staff here is amazing I have a large private room with a giant walk in shower! So besides being so excited to begin this journey I am Gucci!!!

I can't believe my surgery is over! Funny enough it didn't hit me until a few hours after that whoa, my entire life is changed. There's no changing my mind or giving up, etc. Im ready to get everything healed so I can starting kicking some ass! The surgery itself was pretty standard. Doc was pleased I lost 13lbs in the 10 day pre-op diet. I wiggled myself out of the bed and onto the operating table.. Felt like 3 seconds later and I'm waking up in recovery! Pain meds are a godsend right now but no gas discomfort surprisingly. It gets better every hour!

Here I am post op finally and I admit it has been a rough day. The gas pain has to be the worst but they were right you can literally walk the pain away. I started walking about an hour after I left from the recovery and haven't stopped. I walk at least 15 mins every hour and I feel fab! The only thing they will give me until tomorrow is those little medicine cups half way full with crushed ice. That is fine with me though cause food is the last thing on my mind. They also changed my diet to just Clear Liquids, no Protein for a week or Vitamins which is weird. The staff has been amazing I have a giant private room with free cable and wifi.... Well off to get some rest an I promise to keep everyone updated!

I have the lapband which is getting reversed to the sleeve on the 19th, when I got my lapband I remember struggling on the preop diet like I am with this one, and thinking how am I going to be able to do this for weeks after?! well the weeks after are actually easier! your stomach will be so much smaller so you won't get those hunger pains. think of it as 2 weeks of struggle for a new life!

I am sitting in pre-op. I've had my blood thinner and anti-nausea med, IV is in. I go into surgery at 12:10. I am still totally calm. I think it may be because I lost a good friend suddenly 2 days ago. Her death at 30, although probably unrelated to obesity, has reinforced my desire to be healthier. I will post again this evening

Water!!! Water!!! I started pre-op diet yesterday and that has helped me curb the hunger. I think tomorrow will either be my worst day and then I will be over the hump. I had headaches and a little nauseous and light headed but the Water helped me push through. Yeah I had to go pee alot but as my friend said you are detoxing from all the crap you use to eat. Good luck!!! My surgery is on the 18th.

sara-seeking-sleeve reacted to feelincheesy in Hi, I'm new here!
    Hi All,
I've read through many of your posts and have found much inspiration from you all. I'm thrilled to be part of such a strong community! I'm new into the process, just started my pre-op (non-liquid) diet to get down to the goal weight the surgeon will give me tomorrow. I'm a little nervous to be honest. It's SUCH a big change and one I'm ready for. I think if I wasn't nervous, I am not being honest with myself - it's a BIG step - no question.
I can't help but think, "Oh Cookies, how I'll miss you"...etc but I read a great post saying you're not NEVER going to have them...just not for awhile and maybe when you can again, you won't want to....so I made a condolence card for myself. I googled a bunch of images and made a collage of them (Oreos, Doritos, French Toast, Cookies, Cake, Milkshakes, Panda Express, Mac and cheese and Pizza) and in the inside I wrote, "Sorry you're dead but better you than me!" I love it. I haven't figured out where to put it but it made me feel good to make it.
Anyway, thanks for your support and I hope to return the favor to you. Never been so happy to be a loser!
