Jumperbean got a reaction from Ms.AntiBand in Pretty sure I f***ed up the sleeve. No leak, but I might as well have never gotten it.
Hey OP, I really really feel for you. You must seek therapy and be honest with your therapist. Let them help you. It sounds like you really were not prepared for surgery. The sleeve is a tool. It is no obesity cure. You have to do the work and follow the plan. The sleeve can help a lot but if I don't do what I am supposed to as far as eating goes, I can consume way more food than I wish I could. It sounds like you really need to take it from the start again and commit to the lifestyle change. The sleeve really is not for everyone and it sounds like your doctors may not have done you any favors. Good luck.

Jumperbean got a reaction from Getting Wispy in Lightweights in the house! Any more people with less to lose/less BMI's?
I'm 5'3 and started at 196 day of surgery. My highest weight was 216. Sleeved 12/10/12. I am down at 141 pounds now and have 10 more to go. Started really slowing down the last month or so with the loss but I expected it. If I never drop another pound I am still thrilled with my results. I work out very hard daily and am now a size 7, I was a 16 prior to surgery.

I spent so many years hating how I looked in dresses so I just never wore them. I didn't even like wearing bridesmaid dresses, and I wore pants to prom. For the first time ever I actually love how I look in a dress and I can not WAIT to wear this outfit out this weekend. Everyone here has always been so supportive of me so I wanted to share these photos.
Anyone out there on the fence about this surgery, all I can say is it is the BEST THING I EVER DID for myself.

I'm sorry and totally not picking on the original poster but that statement is a load of bunk. Please don't anyone believe that 18 years bs. Those doctors that told her that without any real data are terrible. If this procedure cut that kind of time off lives most of us would not have chosen to have it. Not to mention that it would have to be disclosed to patients before surgery. Most of us would have a hell of a lawsuit if the was the case. It is simply not true. I am in the medical community and I can assure you the doctors that told her that are mistaken. It is a bit laughable.

The gastric sleeve does NOT shorten life expectancy. This is ABSOLUTELY wrong, and in fact morbid obesity and the results from morbit obesity is the real killer!
    The Bottom Line
These findings emphasis the health benefits of losing weight. Obesity is linked to dramatic increases in the risk of heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Losing weight can dramatically reduce those risks, as seen in this study.
Gastric bypass surgery is an option for people who have not been able to lose weight through lifestyle modifications. Once weight is reduced, controlling blood sugar, high blood pressure and other health conditions becomes much easier.
Another outcome of these studies may be the lowering of the BMI threshold for gastric bypass surgery. Until these studies came out, there was no solid evidence that gastric bypass surgery increased life expectancy. Now that that evidence exists, we may see gastric bypass surgery recommendations being made for more and more people.

For those who are researching this (and I will too when I get a free minute), try looking at long-term prognosis for those who've had their stomaches removed because of stomach cancer. There may be a link between loosing a stomach, long-term nutrition, and life expectancy. Although I highly doubt that it shaves off 8 to 10+ years off.
I rather believe that when pushed and prodded for a definitive guarantee, a doctor will give the "Well, there is a lack of research and therefore it is possible that there could be a decrease on years although not probable" kind of vague non-comittial response. I mean, no one can absolutely say with 100% certainty that there is a link between WLS and decreased life span....just like they cannot say with the same degree of certainty that you will live longer.
I will probably forego the research and err on the side of common sense in this case.

Now, some of the I feel like everyone, particularly men are staring at me statements are a little in your head. You need to let that go, they are men and they are not going to bite you. If you are hit on and not interested be direct and tell that person. Guys are not dumb and they get the hint pretty quickly. Be yourself as that is all you can ever be. I'm sorry you didn't know how powerful being a women makes you.
I was fortunate enough to be raised by a total badass so no matter how ugly I thought I was she always instilled great confidence in my other abilities, so luckily I got the badass gene. Lol! It's time to develop yours.

I was sleeved this morning. So far everything has went great. I woke up in moderate pain in the center of chest epigastric area. It was from the gas. My incisions are not sore at all. So far I have took sips of Water and ate ice chips with no pain or nausea. The doctor said that everything looks good. I am just peeing my brains out because all the IV fluids. Other then that all is good
