Msa662 got a reaction from sleevemeplano in This time next Monday night I'll be resting in hospital from my surgery
I'm actually excited about it and a little nervous. But I'm not thinking negative. I'm a strong believer in thinking and being positive! However I'm still a little nervous because it is major surgery. But this time next Monday night i'll be resting in the hospital from having my sleeve done earlier that day.
Anyone else getting sleeved on the 4th?

Msa662 got a reaction from mysleevemylife in Kind of envying some people who don't have to do a liquid pre-op
I'm not even going to sugar coat, I'm kind of envious of some of these pre op diets I've been reading on the forum. Some people say they only have to do a liquid 24 hrs before surgery, some are not required to do liquid at all before surgery. Some people only have to do it 2 - 3 days before surgery.
But I am following my dr's instructions and actually doing pretty good with mine. I started on Feb. 18, surgery date March 4th. But I sure wish I could eat some food I really miss it and at times I'm really craving it. Now I did cheat twice last week with saltine crackers & tortilla chips. I ate a total of 9 crackers on tuesday of last week and about 20 tortilla chips this past saturday. Other than that I haven't had any other morsel of solid food during the week I've been on this liquid diet. I do like my Protein drinks though and I have several flavors so the variety has been great. The last time i weighed myself was on friday 2/22 and I lost 11lbs. I'm like 11lbs in 5 days, quite surprising.
But anyway I just wanted to get that out. Wish I could eat this turkey salad my husband made earlier. I would love it on some toast. Yummm....oh well

I'm pretty much experiencing the same thing. A few girlfriends are on super strict diet and one goes to the gym twice a day. She sat quietly while another coworker that has not seen me in a month, started complimenting me on how smaller I looked. When she was asked: can you believe how great she looks? She got up and said: I see her every day, so she looks the same to me and walked away.
I was a little surprised but said nothing. She came back and asked me if I brought my lunch with me, stupid question, to which I replied yes. She then screamed: great see you at lunch sexy!! and gave me a big, awkward, hug!!
She confessed to our other friend what she did. She tried to bring it up a few times. I shut her out every time. But yes surgery did change the dynamic of my friendship with her.

I haven't lost any friends yet, but I do see some jealousy and competition. Now a lot of my friends are on fad diets and exercising in an attempt to "keep up" or maintain their status as smaller than me. Maybe I should be flattered that I motivated them to make some changes, but it really makes me feel awkward because of what I think their motives are.

I love this forum! It just goes to show we are all willing to do what we have to do for better health. And we didn't let distance stop us from achieving our goal!!

If you wanted to get serious, you could probably sue. Violation of privacy laws, big time. I would at the very least put in a complaint. And by the way, your boss is a tool.

Msa662 got a reaction from No game in I've cheated everyday on my Pre op diet:-(
You're only human like the rest of us. food has been a great comfort to us all that's how we got to be where we are in the first place.
I'm on my pre op diet also with a March 4 surgery date. Started the pre op Feb. 18. And this diet has been very hard on me. I cheated by eating 4 crackers this past tuesday and today. But I have not eaten anything else, not even so much as a morsel. Lord knows I really, really, REALLY want to especially some Mcdonald's fries. On Monday and Wednesday when i didn't eat those crackers, I did much better than i thought. But on the days I ate those crackers, i wanted more food. So I'm not eating another morsel of cracker or anything because it just makes you want food more. I have lost 8lbs so far. Surprised how much weight I've lost in 4 days. But just keep thinking about what could happen if you don't stick to the liquid diet. Make sure your Protein drinks are high in Protein. I drink 20g-25g a serving 3-4 times a day. If your liver is too fatty, the surgeon could close you up and cancel your surgery. Or when they cut into your stomach and there's food in it, then that will cause problems also like an infection.
But just be really careful, think about your surgery being successful and the dangerous results of eating on your pre op diet right before your surgery. And take it one day at a time. I'm learning that now.

I do too! It's about a three hour trip to my surgeon. Ironically, I live in Memphis. However, I chose a surgeon in Nashville for several reasons. I'm so glad I did. He is great and well worth the travel time for the excellent work he does.

Msa662 got a reaction from DanaInNewOrleans in I Travel 2 1/2hrs To My Bariatric Surgeon's Appts
Just wanted to share with you all:
I live in Greenville, MS and where I live there are no bariatric surgeons even close to where I live. So have no choice but to travel since I really wanted and needed this surgery. I drive 2 1/2 hrs to go to Oxford, MS. My other options were to go to Jackson, Ms (1 1/2 hr) or to Memphis, Tn (2 1/2 hr). Dr. Michael King in Oxford came highly recommended to me. I did my research on him and other bariatric surgeons and decided Oxford is where I would go. I'm originally from St. Louis, MO and I seriously considered moving back and staying with my daughter temporarily while I was going through the whole appointments and the wls. Because I know there are plenty of bariatric surgeons in the St Louis metro area I could've chose from. But I would've missed my husband a lot.
And at the same time when you want something really bad out of life, you're determined to do it what it takes to achieve success. Is there anyone else out there who travels a long way to their bariatric surgeons office?

Msa662 got a reaction from No game in Well I'm Enjoying My Tasty Liquid Dinner
My surgery is March 4th so today is my 1st day of my pre-op diet. I am now "drinking" dinner.
    My menu:
Meal: Some delicious succulent beef broth
Desert: Not so sweet sugar free Jello
    Drink: Refreshing Apple juice
I'm really trying to keep a positive attitude about my pre op diet. But when I think about the consequence of not following my diet, well that keeps me motivated.
What are some of you all having for your meals?
