I'm in Parker and was sleeved on 12/17/12 at Parker Adventist. Not a lot of CO activity on these boards.. Is it because we are the "leanest" state? I have to say that when we are up in the mountains and i see cyclists riding at close to tree line, I really am accutely aware of the general fitness of our state's population. On the other hand, we are so used to seeing overweight people these days that even though I am morbidly obese, I had people telling me I shouldn't have surgery because I couldn't be that overweight.
Lakewood - Good luck with surgery!
Colorado Springs - How far along are you in the process? You are likely the "veteran" of the 3 of us.

re: calorie intake - Because I am hypothyroid, I never burned calories as efficiently as more slender people (including my siblings). I don't think that has changed a whole lot. I did work on some muscle building in my legs and that has helped, but there was never a period in my life where I could eat more than 2000 calories and not gain weight. Now that I am older and have hypothyroidism, I believe that the only reason I was able to lose weight is that the sleeve made eating so few calories tolerable (less painful; didn't feel like I was starving). So, I never believed that eating more than 1200 would result in anything but in me gaining weight.
re: stats - I was sleeved on December 17th last year. Prior to diet/surgery, I weighed 242. I am now around 141. I have not been eating as well as I should and due to 4 kids and 2 elderly parents with crazy schedules, I have not been able to exercise as much as I was over the summer. But, I am still plugging away. The doctor wanted me to get to 130. Still not sure if that will happen, but I am not done working on it.

Hi! My restriction is still pretty good too. Dense meats like steak, chicken, pork and shrimp I can do 3-4oz. Ground beef, fish and crab about 2-3oz. I still mostly stick to Protein and 2-4 bites of veggies but every once in a while I might sneak in a couple of bites of potatoes or Pasta. I have 14 pounds to go until I meet my personal goal. 4 pounds to meet my Drs goal and am LOVING my sleeve.

Re: BMI and weight ranges - Yes. There is a spectrum. 117 would be extremely tiny for someone your height. Your 140 is probably a slightly lower BMI than me if I get to 130, but sounds somewhat comparable. I am not losing any discernable weight right now and I think it's because to your point, I exercise more and that has increased my appetite. It may make you feel better to know that I am part of an online group that includes marathon runners (FEMALE, marathon runners) and they are constantly complaining that when they train for their marathons, they GAIN weight....unlike their male counterparts. Obviously we don't want to be obese again, but we are working against our gender's natural "protective" system to keep a little more fat on us than men. It helps us have greater longevity than men, but it is a battle.

I'm down a total of -103lbs and I think I'm ready to enter into the maintenance phase. Over all I'm happy with my weight and where I'm at. I'm excited to start the plastic surgery process and be bikini ready by next summer.

(Message sent too soon!) Anyway, the rain is crazy, but we've been pretty well protected in Denver proper (and we have flood insurance)
I was sleeved by Dr. Metz, and he is a good person, always remembers and asks about my mom. I've been doing great!

I had to share...I hit 100 pounds today from my pre-band weight. I'm down 78 from my sleeve on 12/17/13. For those of you whose doctors say revisions don't do as well as "virgin" sleevers...I say, heck NO! I still have a ways to go, but I'm still losing it!

I haven't had this problem exactly. In general, I can eat "normal" size meals (small but not absurdly small) and every now and then, something will surprise me and fill me up more quickly than normal. But, if I was only eating yogurt, I don't think I would feel the restriction. Maybe this is not a negative thing because it will keep your eating in check. It's harder when you don't feel the restriction on a regular basis.

Wow. I am three inches shorter and 150 and I know I am supposed to lose more weight based on surgeon goals, but I feel pretty darn good at 150. It sort of makes it a struggle to be motivated to do more than I do right now. Don't get me wrong, I am exercising and I am trying to eat small portions...mostly protein...BUT, I just don't feel like I need to run a marathon to get the last 10-20 off.

First off, there is nothing wrong with wanting to be a size 0, 2, 4. Go for it! Someone posted recently how unhappy they were because they were a size 14. I stated that I was a 14 and thought I looked great. Funny thing is, my bff told me my clothes were too baggy and had me try on her size 8 jeans. They fit! I can honestly say it didn't make me feel any different about how I look right now, it just suprised me that they fit. Although I may be the minority here, there is no B.S. on my part when I say I don't care to be a size whatever. I am thrilled that my diabetes is gone, and I would happily stay a size 14 and be around for my kids than a size 0. I can settle for being healthy, energetic, and not the largest person in the room. I have seriously thought of maintaining at 140, my current weight, instead of completing my goal of 125 because I am happy with how I look now. If anything, I don't like the sickly look some get when losing too much weight. Reaching my goal is more about following through with a goal, than it is getting smaller or a certain size, for me anyway. All this to say not everyone is full of B.S. when they are satisfied at being larger than a size 2.

I am one of those who does want to be healthier. ..however I have had insulin resistance, high blood pressure, higgh cholesterol, and thyroid issues for abiut 18 years and I'm 37. I also developed heart failure with my pregnancy. My main goal is to be around when my kids have kids. I am barely at 35 bmi but my health is horrible. HOWEVER...getting down to a 6, 4, or 2 would be an extra bonus like winning the lotto! I won't say I wouldn't be over the moom at at and don't dream of it....I would love to say...I'm freezing in a hot room! But honestly. ..I am most tired of taking 12 pills a day. It gets old after so many years.
