is it really worth it???????
Eve, Hi - I am still a little like you in your thought process. I am yet to be banded & waiting on insurance. I have 100 pds to lose. No other health problems but gerd. I felt too that the band is going to be work. I am especially afraid of the possible hair loss & body noises & I know its silly but the scar from the port insicion. Like Alex said the one thing that really makes me want it- is the fact that when I fail my next attempt at losing weight; I will have that to stop me from failing to the point of no return. I lost twice w/atkins. Was on super strick - never once- cheated atkins for 9 mnths & lost 35 pds & many inches. But it just didn't last & couldn't. Too hard to do forever. But from what I have learned of the band, you really can eventually eat anything. Weather it be good or bad. The good news is if you fill up on smart food first - you will not be hungry. How cool to not be hungry! I can wait - i just know that with that "BAD BOY BAND" I am sure to lose weight & when & if I start to faulter- it will kick me back into gear. Anyway- just wanted you to know that I understand *exactly* what you mean. I even haven't told my entire family because I am still afraid of failing. Maybe after I lose a 100 pds & keep it off for a few years in a row I will tell them & my friends;0)

Best Tuna!
The starkist albacore is also my favorite. I truely enjoy the prepaked bags w/pepper & lemon & also herbs. they don't even have to be drained. With atkins that regular mayo is what you are to have. Any type of low-fat food will always have more carbs in it than a regular food. Atkins is all about low or no carbs. Do be careful with your calorie intake & the sugars on atkins. It can sometimes be more harmful than good. I did loose 35 pds on atkins but a year later on it came and more. I think a modefied version of atkins is better than a strick one beause of the calories. Good Luck Check out the existing tuna Thread- it has awesome ideas.

Moderator and Privacy Issues on LBT
Oh my Lord!! I can believe that there is still this drama going on... I think all the women should stand up straight & tall & all the "Children" that are playing here on LBT should be grounded & sent home. Now I really mean what I say... not being silly or trite.. If there are moderators whom are causing problem- fire them! If there is a user causing continued destress to others--send them packing. If this issue or issues what ever they seem to be are constantly continuing - ask those involved to stop or leave. I seriously do not know all what has been happening but I do believe that it should quickly be resolved. I like Marie too- never once saw a problem... that being said if it is causing such a whoohaaa, maybe, just maybe she could step down as a moderator. Maybe she shouldn't.... Maybe there should be a set guide line for all moderators to follow from here on out & if that set of rules is proven broken - well have them step down. As to double names- seriously again child's play. Ground them , tell them its wrong & stop or send them home. My thoughts only-of course I don't have all the facts. wishing you luck at the play ground I'll Succeed Just one more thing- Alex I have never met you - but I do LOVE you for what you do! Thank You Very Much

Laser Hair Removel
I am very experienced when it comes to lasers. Some for hair but mainly for port wines. Due to the fact that I have a port wine stain on my forehead. ( a red-birthmark). Lighter ones are known as stawberry marks. I have had 23 treatments over 10 years. My two cents is that as far as sun exposure goes: No sun before- because you skin won't take to the laser if taned NO-NO-NO sun after for a least 2 months to be safe because sun WILL make the area hyper-pigment & this can be a permenante problem. This also goes for any areas that are LIPO-suctioned. 45 sun block is best & shade. The hyper pigmented skin may fade as time goes by & or be bleached with certain Expensive creams but more than not it doesn't help & only time will (sometimes a year/sometimes never) Be careful & follow all post-op instructions to a tee. I myself can't wait to be laser from Bikkini front to the far depths of Space : uranus ;0). Of course I think a little landing strip is always in good taste;0) I am definetly waiting till I hit my 90 pd goal for my unveiling.

bingeing
I have really gained alot from these comments in this subject. I do understand a little of what Norma is saying... I agree that some folks give-up to early in some instances & resort to surgery. I feel this is mainly ture of those who are young & in no way could have tried as many options as a person 10 yrs their senior or more has done. Surgery is a huge desicion not to be taken lightly. But for those who do choose surgery; I think & I have witnessed that not only was it the right decision but the best & safest one for permanate weight loss. Its still tough in everyway to loose with or without the band. The security, if you can call it that, is that with the band your more likely to keep it off & not regain it back plus some. I think every attempt at weight loss is a victory & every type of diet or tool MUST take a period of adjustment. Norma - I have felt exactly like you & have yet to be banded... But the more I sit & think about it...I KNOW I CAN lose another 40 pds-on my own-no sweat.....................................BUT I also know that it will probably stay off for a year or maybe with a TREMENDOUS amount of effort 1 1/2 years & than slowly it will come back.. It might be a job change, a marriage, a death, a newborn or the change of the season. My 38 years tells me it will come back.. Hopefully with the band & a tremendous amount of work it will forever be gone & least under control. Boy... More than anyone on this site , I wish you the most success & healing. I really look forward to hearing from you over the next month. God Bless You! Please stay in touch, your point of view is very important for all to hear.

Does everyone have a great story?
Norma((hugs))) I am not banded as of yet - but feel the emotions you are going through- the bandster will give you GREAT advice on what to do next- so just hang in there. I strongly believe that a month or two from now your story will change & you will end up saying that its the BEST thing you could have done not only for yourself but also for your child. ( at least I hope so) I wish you well & mental satisfaction. Warmly Christina

Does everyone have a great story?
There have unfortunately been several problem stories. One gentleman had his band placed & it wasn't even placed around his stomach (just floating around inside). He has since been re-banded & doing very well. Another gal had & still has, but is healing nicely, a wound that wouldn't close over her port area & the tube stuck out. There also is a recent "thread" about a gal who had a kink in her tube which caused a small leak. she also has been rebanded & doing well. Just go up to the search button & type in a few key words & the search will bring up these threads. I would try using the words leak, kink, wound. i will also try & "bump" the one about the gentleman's story for you. So yes- there are "not so happy stories" here but by & by they are few and far between. And most all have already had thier happy endings. If you were to ask these people about their stories & if they would still want their bands I believe they would all give a resounding "YES"... hope this helps As far as a sticky goes ... a moderator for the board will "sticky" a particular thread so it stay on top of the boards so others can find them more readily. They are the only ones who may sticky something. Rachel the threads on the horror story have been bumped for you.

Leaving in a.m. for Monterey for cosmetic surgery..
Prayers are coming your way... I had my upper eyes done and could not be any happier! I will do them again probably in 15- 20 years . I am so pleased & think you will be too. I will also pray for your surgeons. Please let us know- & be patient while you heal- the hardest part for me was sleeping up-right but you get used to it. good luck
