SeriouslyChange got a reaction from Mid West in Do family & friends think you're doing the right thing?
My dad thought I was crazy, and my siblings thought the same thing. My dad received a letter a week before my surgery from a funeral home and he thought it was an omen of bad things to come. But I had set my mind to the idea and that was it.
I'm not so crazy anymore they see that I've changed a lot. I come from a family of HUGE portions. And so, it's hard for them to adjust to the 1/6-1/8 the size portion I eat now at family dinners. My dad still over serves me and gets awkward when I don't finish
I wouldn't change it for the world though. I am a lot happier now than I have been in a long time and though I still have body image issues, and half the time my clothes don't fit me (which irritates me when I'm in a rush), it's pretty amazing to see how the sleeve has changed me for the better. I crave veggies and Protein instead of mcdonalds or milkshakes.
Your family will get over it. Mine did

Give them a small nibble, chew chew chew, and wait for a reaction.
My first salad, I ate a lot of lettuce. It freaked me out, but veggies chewed up really well take up less space than other foods.

Smoking and sleeving are quite incompatible. My surgeon, one of the best in the nation, is a tyrant about it. He has dealt with smoking related complications, his only near fatality was smoking related.
I feel your pain. Even now after all these years smoke-free I still get an urge when I smell it when someone is smoking around me. That's when I kick in my logical mind and squash the urge.
It's like having an ex-lover who did you wrong. You find a new love that treats you like a king but when you see the ex you still have feelings. Then you think of their dirty deeds and compare them to what you have now and the feeling passes like so much gas.

    But seriously.
Give us a sample of what you eat in a day.
I had surgery at 305. So I feel your pain.
I am proud to say that as much as I got depressed at first because I "wasn't losing fast enough" I have officially lost 120 pounds since surgery and it hasn't even been a year yet.
    So chill

One of my constant phrases my first week post op was, I can't f-ing do this sh*t... My best friend saw me in the hospital a day after surgery and I said that to her. She told me, it's too late to change anything, it's already done, and it's not going to change back to how it was. Make the best out of the current situation instead of complaining. You're just going to stress yourself out and ain't no body got time for that...
Lol, my bestie was really sweet. I still get sad when I'm so excited to try something and 3 bites and I'm done. But food doesn't dominate my life anymore. And that is the most important thing to me.

Perhaps you should look at what you fear comes with this surgery. I ate nothing but junk until it hit me one day that I wasn't doing myself any favors. That I have the opportunity to change my life but I was scared of change. Instead of having a date in July/August, my date was set for November 26.
Just give it some thought as on a subconscious level, you may have a reason for sabotaging yourself.

An egg and a chicken sausage is way too much food for so early out. Embrace your sleeve, and really enjoy the smaller portions that you have now.
My Breakfast is always 1 whole egg and a pinch of cheese. 100 calories.
    I'm 10 months out.

I never get hungry before my period, but during ovulation. Crazy, right?
I crave junk but try to make small better choices. Compared to eating a quart of ice cream preop, I now have a small spoonful and that's that.
I don't deprive, I'm all about Portion Control
And I agree, I just magically dropped 4 pounds.

My highest weight was 332 (in 2005)
I started my sleeve preop diet at 308; was 300 on the day of my surgery.
Last time I weighed - earlier this week - I was at 155.6.
I have been maintaining since Feb 2013 - staying in my maintenance "range"

I started at well over 300 and when i got to 200 I sorta lost my focus too. I eventually realized it was because I needed to really rethink what I wanted in terms of a goal weight. At some level, i had some resistance and fear about losing more weight. At 200# I could be active and enjoyed life, but was still using fat as some sort of emotional protection. Once I faced some of those issues internally, I could get back on track. Yeah, that, and going low carb is how I got to goal.

    I never did. I'm 7.5 months out.
My 6 month blood work came back and I'm super deficient. In everything. It sucks because I'm tired all the time now a days.
I would suggest getting on at the very least a multi. It helps in the long run, seriously

    Issue:
I have been eating so bad these past 2 days. And eating whatever.
I understand that it gets harder as you go out. But this is f-ing ridiculous.
It's like I'm daring my body to gain on me.
And this all started as soon as I dipped under 200...
I'm sure there is something psychologically wrong with me but how can I get this under control?

Ok so i'm just about to 7 months post op, surgery date was December 10, 2012 preop weight of 379 lbs, pants size a tight 54 waist, Shirt size was a 3 to 4 xL. Todays weight is 243.6 lbs, pants size is down to a 40 but it is loose and could probably go to a 38. Shirt size is a Large in most shirts, with some XL just because I still have them and their not that loose yet, lol. My daily intake numbers are less then 900 calories a day, less then 40 grams of carbs a day, more then 70 grams of Protein, and a minimum of 120 oz hydration. Now for the pictures.

sugar free Popsicle is sweet. fruit is sweet.
Ultimately the decision is yours, but cheesecake is a horrible choice. It is packed with fat and sugar.
You should use the beginning of surgery as a gateway to a healthier eating lifestyle. I'm not saying eat healthy always, but making wise decisions early out helps you in the long run.
At 4 weeks, I was eating thin sliced ham with mozzarella cheese
Just really think about it and if you must, stop at 1 or 2 bites. Don't over do it on the cheesecake.
And low carb makes no difference. It's still super super high in calories and of low nutritional value.
