I'm definitely not the standard on here or the person you should follow when it comes to eating the right amount of calories, protein or carbs so i'm not at ALL recommending you do what I did, it just worked for me. I did not calorie count at all or count my protein or carb in take. I got these little bowls and plates that I ate out of and that how I ate. I used yum yum dishes that helped me with my portion sizes. I still can not eat or drink alot but these portions bowls are what I used to eat out of and I was full.
    http://yumyumdish.com/
My water intake I keep a bottle with me most of the time and sipped on through out the day during my first few months though it was hard for me to get enough water in me so my NP suggested that I eat ice chips or make crystal light popsicles so that's what I did.
Again by NO means am I advocating that my way is the way to do this - I just learned to listen to my body during my journey. I knew to be successful I needed to control my eating but I was never good at counting calories before but I knew I couldn't eat as much anymore so I took advance of that and just used small portion controlled dishes and I still use them. I know that I have to exercise so I got into the gym but before the gym I just walked in my neighborhood I knew at this point anything I did now would be positive and I would see the result now because of the surgery and it worked for me.

What you're experiencing is a common topic here on VST I read it alot. I'm glad that you have moved on and understand the logical as well as the emotional side of this. I think for this very same reason is why I chose not to weigh myself I didn't buy a scale and would only get my weight from my monthly check in at the WL Center and meeting with my NP and Surgeon, because I had enough stress and I didn't want that to be another one.
I didn't weigh myself for the first 12 months (I know some may think i'm insane) but that was my choice - not even when I went to the gym even though I was tempted too. I honestly just enjoyed the journey and went off how my clothes started fitting me - looser and looser, I also listen to all the people around me noticing the difference and giving me compliments. I'm not suggestion that anyone do the same this is just what I did and it helped me I may have stalled here or there but I never knew it because I was "scale free" for the first year!
I'm now 21 months post op and I currently have been maintaining my weight which i'm currently at for 5 months now but I do weigh myself weekly sometimes daily and take my measurements monthly but as I stated i'm in my "maintaining my weight" stage of my journey.
Good luck to you on this WL journey and I wish you much success!

I am so glad I read your blog! My surgery is coming up in less than two weeks! 2/28/13. There is so much to learn and thanks for the advise of picture taking and measurements. Yuk btw. But I'm going to measure next week end so I can be encouraged during stalls. One day at a time and just know, I am glad your here!

I hear ya! I pretty much only weigh myself on Fridays or Saturdays. (Occasionally I might slip in a Wednesday scale reading, but only for those "big" numbers that a person is waiting to see.) I had my hubs take before and during photos. We did the before, and then 1 month post op, 3 months post op, 6 months post up. I probably should have done measurements too... but those photos are AMAZING to look at.
BTW, my first stall started about week 3 and lasted for three weeks. I'm thankful that at least I knew it was normal, so I didn't really let it bother me much. I knew that I was following the doctor's plan and tracking everything. So when I was over that hump, holy buckets! The weight loss continued. Yay!

I am losing about one pound every three days. I am 3 weeks out and I am very happy with that. For some reason I thought it would go faster! Silly me or else wishful thinkin . I started walking last Wednesday and I am up to 2 1/2 miles per day. It seems it has kind of stalled my losing!
    GOOD LUCK!!!

I understand your frustration i had recently went through the same thing. With you still being so fresh with the sleeve you need to up your protein and water intake. I no it sounds weird ok why do i need to UP my calories to lose weight. But after your body goes into shock and losses weight it says oh ok well i see what there doing nope not gunna happen today and it clings hard to whatever fat and calories it has stored up so that it does "starve" you really do want to up your calories/protein so it doesnt start effecting your organs and breaking down your tissue. I was in a stall for about 2-3 weeks but was working out everyday taking in 600-800 calories so i was like why the heck and i not lossing/ So i upd my calories to around 900 kept working out and bam lost 3 pounds in 3 days. So try that see if it helps it might be as simple as taking on one extra shake a day. Good luck keep us posted.

And hooray for the fart! hahahaahaha
So does the liquid in the protein you drink count toward your overall fluid quota ?
Keep on rockin girl! Congrats to you!

I thought of you and of how you said you're looking forward to going hiking when you've lost some weight. OMG I totally agree! I really look forward to really enjoying a good hike!

That is reallly smart to tier changes in your diet like that. I had to give up my favorite flavored coffee creamer - so I did it in December. I had one week for the pre-op liquid diet and had surgery on January 14th. I was so happy to be past my cravings for my coffee treat- which I would drink a pot of per day.
I went through my house and got as organized as I could to make that liquid diet week go faster. I couldn't quit talking about the surgery coming up... God bless my husband. He really was a trooper in the listening department. Now I am one week post op. The liquid diet doesn't bother me quite yet. Probably due to small problem with nausea. Good luck to u.

About a month before surgery I started to freeze meals for my husband. I would make a little extra and then package a meal size portion for him, wrap up good and tight, label it and freeze it. I am six days post op and have pulled a few meals out of him. It has worked out good because I have not felt like cooking yet and there is no reason he should suffer because of my choice to have surgery. I feel better being able to do this. My husband is very supportive of the decisiton and would have no problem fixing his own meals.....I just know that he would not eat very healthy though. Good luck with your surgery.
