  1. I went the mexico route a little more than 2 months ago and i paid about 4k. No problems no complications and i stayed in a excellent hotel with wonderful service.
  2. I am currently studying in a doctoral program. I stayed in Mexico for 5 days. I havent missed any assignments, i wasnt bedridden or in pain. I went back to work after the weekend. I got a A- in the course in November when i had the surgery.
  3. I was sleeved a couple of days before thanksgiving....i know sucks right?...and to date roughly 50 pounds.

I was told not to use straws due to the fact that it might increase the air in your sleeve and expand it as well as it allows you to drink more at one time which might also expand your sleeve....oh yea drinking to much at once hurts like hell!
  5. Thanks to everyone who responded to me i believe that i will find that special person until then im ready to date!
  6. Im on week 8. I havent told anyone about my sleeve just yet and havent went on many dates were i have had to explain my lack of eating or drinking. It would be good to talk to someone who could relate and not judge me. Im a young successful guy someone would cherish that right?
  7. The card or passport work fine. The passport card is more convient because you can get in and out of the dreaded long entry and departing lines into mexico faster. You can scan your passport card before you get to the booth and it transports the information from your card to the agent in the booth, while you might be 4 5 or 6th in line.
  8. The weight will come off you have to be patient. At your weight the weight will fly off. The people who are heavier lose more usually then the people who are smaller. I to have felt like this when the scale doesnt budge. You need to make sure your Fluid intake is good and you should be fine. Good Luck,
  9. Here is a pic or me before the surgery about a month out and a pic of myself at 8 weeks down about 42 pounds.

    Before pics....at my highest
  11. Same thing here. Mine feel off after a week or so.
  12. I did not experience the gas but i did and still do with the reflix...Horrible! The gas will need to dissapate and i dont think there is much you can do at first. The acid is something i hate so i have to take DAILY prevacid or a pill like that for at least 4 to 5 months. Another thing with acid is it can fool you into feeling hungry even though you may not be. Im at week 8 and its got better as the weeks progress. Good Luck
  13. I had my surgery with Dr. Alvarez at Mi Doctor Hospital. It was a great experience and every one was wonderful. Have a safe trip and good riddings to the weight! Surgery Date 11/19/12 Pre-Op Diet Start Weight 299 Pre-op Surgery Weight 289 Post -Op Weight (Week 7) 249
  14. Same issue for me.....I have to learn to eat slower and from what my doc told me softer foods.
  15. Im unsure what your exact situation is but let me share. I had the same problem. I lost about 20 pounds up front and then it stalled. Until i found out that i dont use the bathrooom nearly enough. So i started to take a stool softener. I went from 251 to 247 during one movement. (sorry for the tmi) So that might be something to think about if you arent regular as well as working out. Im sure it will get better. Keep your head up!
  16. This is week 4 for me for those who are wondering. I started off at about 297 pre op got down to 288 before the surgery. At week four i am 259 pounds. Good for me right? I have had no side effects besides the gas and the acid. I have thrown up a couple of times, but not because of dumping, but because i either ate to fast or to much.Well on to the food..... I posted last week with the new foods i have been eating. Now i have introduced very think chicken breast and turkey bratwurst to my diet...no bread of course! I am having a fit because i want corn..... any way today will be the first day that i spend money on food....out. Im going to chipotle! ? No lettuce no rice or no bread it will be really weird. I just wanted to give everyone a glimmer of hope who are stuggling. I suffered the first couple of weeks with the low energy, head hunger, and constant hungry feelings. It will get better you have to stay patient. I hope that it works for you the way that you intended. Have a great day......
  17. Its the end of week three for me and here is a sample list of things i have eaten......successfully! Ground Turkey Green Beans Pineapples Black Beans Shredded cheese Jello Apple Sauce String Cheese Gatorade Water .....( Makes me sick now) Apple juice .....(by far my fav) Lemonade Baked Potatoe Protein shake....Skim Milk/Banana
  18. I had surgery on a Monday recovered for 3 or 4 days. Rested the weekend and was back at work the next monday morning. Ive been at work since and its been a month since i was sleeved. I also havent had any complications. Good Luck
  19. I'm really happy today. I'm in my third week and I ate a good amount of ground turkey stroganoff! It has not come up and no heartburn........yet! I'm happy that I'm progressing with little to no adverse side effects. I can't wait for my fav......chicken!
  20. I am currently in Mexico and i was just sleeved by Dr. Garcia. The facility is great and so is the hotel that they put you in. Dr. Garcia was really hands on with his trusty ipad giving me a visual display of how and what he was going to do during the surgery. I will be going home in a day or so. Im feeling great and no complications so far.......fingers crossed! You will be fine. I was the only surgery for Dr. Garcia on the day that i came so it made me feel more comfortable that i was the only one for the day. Hope this helps......Message me if i can answer any questions for you. Good Luck
  21. Hello, I wanted to tell everyone out there that the post that you guys write have been inspirational. I had my sleeve done 2 days ago. I feel great. I have no complications or problems. I had it hear in Tijuana Mexico. The people here have been so helpful and friendly. The hotel that i am staying at is beautiful. Right now this choice i chose to make is a good one. I will do consistent updates. I will be going home very soon. I fell good right now. Thanks to everyone for the posts of their journeys.
  22. I feel better about my choice to go now. I will have my sleeve done in one week. I had a friend who went a couple of years ago and she looks amazing now....and no complications. She went with Dr. Almanza at Jersuelum Hospital. I chose Dr. Garcia. I to am uninsured and i paid out of pocket. If i didnt have a friend who went threw it already and lived to tell me i proably wouldnt do it!.....I wish you sucess on your travel and surgery,,,
