  1. Haven't posted in a long while. I am approaching 6 years post op. I have had lots of ups and downs. Generally I am pleased and I have not put weight back on. I was about 350 prior to surgery and I float in between 160 and 170 pounds. Eating is still a struggle but its something you learn to deal with. I hope everyone is doing well and receiving the support that is needed. If I can help anyone the way that I was helped and supported by this forum, I would gladly help.
  2. You will lose the weight for sure. Congrats on your journey
  3. Yea, I cant eat and drink at the same time without purging or getting super full. Personally and after all of these years I still cant eat a full meal. It sucks at times but ive adapted. I can consume liquids it needs to be a while before and after I eat. Hydration isnt a problem for me. I can drink liquids but it has to be before or after i eat never at the same time. I'd stay away from beef. I myself havent eaten beef in about 15 years. Lean meats are easily digested as compared to red meat. However getting enough protein from food will always be a struggle. I can eat about 4 chicken drummies about 1.5 maybe 2 whole chicken wings.
  4. I agree. Depression and mental health play a huge part in your recovery process. Its amazing how your mood can dictate how much or how little you can eat and things like that. I used to eat when i was depressed now If I am feeling down or something eating becomes a chore. I didnt notice at first.
  5. It is a constant, daily task and adjustment to make. There is no simple guideline or answer. Things change and you have to be able to flow with it. One thing that I have learned is that a good support system is needed so that you aren't on an island completely alone. You will feel that you are on a island alone though!
  6. Im good on my diet and not eating like crap. The issue is the textures of foods, the smells, the amounts vary from day to day with the amount that I can eat.
  7. I had my surgery a couple of years ago. It has been both good and bad. I started off around 330. At my lowest I got down to 159. Now Im regulated at 180 pounds. Ive went up and down and it can be stressful. I had a social life prior to the surgery after the surgery not so much. I cant eat or drink alot. I really cant eat and drink at the same time. Im still not eating a full meal and im cool with that tho. It just makes it a little rough with friends who want to go out eat and drink and im sitting on the side either nibbling at something or sipping on something for the entire night...lol I havent told many people so ppl may wonder why im sipping and nibbling and I usually give some lame excuse. My question is did you find that your friendships and intimate relationships changed after surgery? Any body start over with love?
  8. Thank you for your responses everyone.

    Looking for a Bariatric Date

Who do you say that you were prior to surgery. Who are you now?
  10. 2 YEARS OUT....STILL COLD!

  13. I had to ease up on the cardio. I feel that i was losing to much weight to quickly. I lost most of my weight within 8 months. So i eased up but i boxed 3 times a week as well as i ran at least 3 miles at least 2 times a week. You will be fine. Pay attention to your own body. Everyone else seems to have bright ideas about how you should live at surgery.....most of the ideas come from people who havent had it! lol the irony. Take care.
  14. Another update with pics. Tomorrow will be 11 months officially and im down 131 pounds. I honestly didnt want to lose this much or think that i would lose this much. I feel that im skinny a little to skinny but i would rather be skinny and healthy then fat and miserable. I wont complain but im in a better place. If your in a rut....remember you will get there. Ive been at the same place that your at now. Man about losing weight so slow, aggravated with the diet, smells from food make you think about eating like you used to.... and the thoughts about the maintaining.....but hey its worth it right? You will get there just as i did even when i didnt think that i could and it was really hard. Have a great week.
  15. Before and After pictures always give us something to reach for right? Here is a insight to my journey. I wish i wouldve taken more pictures along the way. Show us some of your progress! Remember 1 pound lost is 1 pound less then what you had previous and 1 pound closer to your goal! Good Day people.
  16. Thank you all! I didnt have any other procedures done. My skin is saggy in certain places but not everywhere. Inner upper thighs Under my belly button and my what used to be love handles are my problem areas. It is not a massive amount of skin just more thank i want to be hanging around. I lost a lot of weight in a very short amount of time. I lost about 80% of my weight within the first 8 months. Thanks again to everyone.
