  1. The most important thing starting out is your protein. We've found that premier protein (Sam's or costco) is best and doesn't have to be refrigerated. They come in cases of 12 or 18 (chocolate, strawberry and vanilla) so stock up and keep a few cases in your truck. Drink 3 a day and have some other protein snacks in your fridge. Cheese sticks, yogurt, peanut butter, bean dip. After a couple of months you can start eating peanuts or almonds, Jerky (not excessive because of sodium). Some truck stops have taco bells close or inside, so you could do the pintos and cheese to start once you transition to purees. Good luck.
  2. Ladies if you have POSTS the sleeve is a miracle "cure". I am proof. I was diagnosed in my late teens and struggled infertility since my husband and I started trying for a child in 2006. It took 3 years of fertility drugs and procedures to finally end up with our son. He was a miracle. We soon came to the realization that he would be an only child and we were "OK" with that. Fast forward to Nov 2012. I got sleeved at a whopping 300 lbs. I lost quickly and look and behold the 1st month after surgery i started my cycle! Most women dread this, but not me. I was thrilled that I might be normal and actually feel like a women. As the months passed and my monthly visitor became a perfectly timed occurrence, we started discussing the possibility of trying for another. Went to the OBAMA and has ultrasound to see if I has cyst and there were NONE! Only scars from old ones. We discussed fertility drugs with her and she suggested we try unassisted for 6 MO the before we start them. Uuuggghh, I just knew that I was wasting 6 months because there was no way it was going to be that easy. Hahaha jokes on me. First month of trying, boom I got a positive on a home pregnancy test. What!?!? Blood test confirmed the positive. This was real. my OB immediately scheduled me for ultrasound (since she was just as amazed as I was and due to advanced maternal age 35 and pcos there were other factors that put me in a high risk category). My husband and I go and ultrasound shows a healthy 7 week pregnancy to TWINS!!!!!! OMG. So yes I have 11 month old twins, have hit my goal weight and am maintaining perfectly. Praying for all of you to have similar success. This surgery has changed my life. Not just weight and physical health but mental health (although with a 5 year old and a set of 11 month old twins my mental health status is questionable! ) I tell my surgeon every time I see him "Thank you for giving me my life back". Miracles do happen and prayers are answered. If any of you have any questions about pregnancy and the sleeve please do not hesitate to ask.
  3. Phil how long did it take to get back to driving, strapping loads etc after surgery? My husband is having the sleeve done Friday and is worried about when to return.

    Question for PCOS patients!

Yes, just quit birth control. I have PCOS and have only had one period per year for the last 15+years. Last baby was conceived using all the fertility methods known to man. I'm 127 lbs down and 10 months out. I'm also 11 weeks pregnant with twins! No fertility meds. I have had a regular 28-30 day cycle since the first month after surgery. Good luck ladies. This surgery is a miracle in more than one way!

    Sleeve surgery and PCOS

Hi ladies! I have my story to tell. I have PCOS and have struggled with weight and infertility for 15+ years. My last child was conceived after 4 years of treatment. I hadn't sleeve surgery in Nov 2012. I have lost 126 lbs in 10 months. HW: 300. CW:174. Now as for the symptoms of PCOS disappearing: not completely but almost. I still have hair issues. My OB saw some small ovarian cysts. BUT....I have had a regular on-time cycle each and every month since surgery and just found out I'm pregnant...with twins!!! So the sleeve has beat PCOS in my opinion. Hope this helps. Good luck to all of you.
  6. I'm 10 months out today, and down 126 from HW. 14 lbs to goal, and loving my new life. I am currently 10 weeks pregnant with twins, and a little worried about gaining too much, and not being able to lose it. I'm snacking on the wrong things too! Slider foods are the easiest to eat right now (I have pretty bad morning sickness), but as soon as I can I am going to get back on track. I'm still doing water aerobics, but am worried that I'm not getting enough activity to keep up with my increased calories. How are you all doing?

  8. Sleeved 11/15/12. Down 125. Still 15 from goal and not gonna reach it this year. Found out I'm pregnant with twins! Hopefully once they get here in march I will be able to lose it all and then some. With my last baby I lost all the pregnancy weight plus 40 more!
  9. Anyone taking PPI protonix while pregnant? My OB knows I take it, but hasn't said anything.

Ok so I want to reinforce my previous post! If you are not ready for more babies, use protection. I have struggled for 20+ years with PCOS and infertility. Lost the weight and now preggo.......with TWINS! Oh yes, that's right, no fertility meds. Very happy about it, just shocked.

Ok girls......PCOS has meet its match. Just confirmed that I am indeed PREGNANT!!! 5 weeks 2 days! My EDD is 4/13/14. We are so excited about this, I couldn't wait to tell our friends and family, so they all found out yesterday. I am 9 months post-op and down 123 lbs since surgery. I have PCOS and have struggled for the past 20 years with irregular cycles and fertility. We have a healthy 3.5 year old, that was conceived through treatment after 5 years. Since surgery I have had monthly cycles, every 28-30 days. This is amazing!!! I feel like my life is finally mine, and not inhibited by my weight/size. My prayers have been answered. Doing the happy dance!!!! Wooohoooo!!!
