I LOVE to cook and am just wrapping up the pureed stage off my diet. Here are some of my favorite concoctions - enjoy!
Egg salad - couple eggs, 1 tsp of mayo, 1/2 tsp of spicy brown mustard, salt & pepper - puree until smooth
Buffalo chicken - can of chicken, 1 tbsp blue cheese crumbles, 2 tbsp ranch dressing, 1 tsp. of buffalo sauce, salt & pepper - puree until smooth - MY PERSONAL FAVORITE!
Squash casserole - 1 can of squash with vidalia onion, 2 tbsp of cream cheese, 1/2 tsp of garlic powder, salt & pepper, 1 tsp margarine/butter, 1 tbsp shredded cheddar cheese - puree until smooth, pour into dish and microwave for 90 seconds or until heated through and bubbly
Pintos and cheese - 1 can of Pintos with onion - puree until smooth, pour into dish and cover with 2 tbsp. of shredded cheddar cheese - microwave for 90 seconds or until heated through and bubbly - stir well to combine the cheese - optional: add a bit of enchilada sauce if you are looking for more flavor.
    Lemon Ricotta Creme
Take one 15 oz. container of part skim ricotta cheese, add the zest of one lemon, juice of half the lemon, 1.5 teaspoons of vanilla extract and 4 packets of splenda - puree until smooth - AWESOME!!!!
You can do variations on this should you choose - substitue orange zest and 1 tbsp. of orange juice with orange extract or keep vanilla extract for a dreamsicle taste. chocolate ricotta creme is easy too by substituting 2 tbsp. cocoa powder instead of zest and juice, same vanilla extract and splenda to sweeten.
Perfect sweet tooth item instead of the same old pudding and/or jell-o and it has a high concentration of Protein due to the ricotta cheese. Enjoy!
Parmesan Garlic Cauliflower (tastes a lot like mashed potatoes, but very low carb!)
1 bag of frozen cauliflower florets
    1 tsp butter/margarine
    1 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp garlic powder
    1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
    1/4 cup of parmesan cheese
    1/4 cup of milk
Blend until smooth, pour into a casserole dish and top with another 1/4 cup of mozzarella cheese and microwave for 90 seconds - enjoy!

I eat oatmeal at least once or twice a week. It was even on my soft foods/pureed stage.
However, I find couscous makes me SUPER full with only a few bites

I'm 2 months out and popcorn has not caused me any problems. I havent tried oatmeal. The only things that are causing me problems are thick breads and lettuce. I can literally feel the bread swelling. As for the lettuce, which I am really bummed about, it just fills my sleeve up with gas. It makes me feel like i need to burp really bad but I can't, and even if I do burp I still get no relief. So I keep Gas-x on hand now.

This is thru the obesity coalition.. you have to have your drs office fill out the form for the most part and fax it in.. BUT you get a huge bottle of calcuim citrate chewables (500 i think).. Vitamins.. B12 sublingual.. and Iron. All thru Bariatric Advantage and bariatric approved. Did this today for myself.

Hello everyone, as I begin my sleeve journey I now see people a lil differently in terms of their dramatic weight loss. I know a few people that have been sleeved that were open about their surgery and some I speculate have had it done~ Everyone knew when Star Jones got gastric because it was super obvious! With all the recent weight loss endorsements by Celebrities I always wondered which ones were real and which ones werent~//
Have you ever seen a friend, someone in passing or a Celebrity and wondered to yourself...Mmmmmmmm I wonder if they were sleeved!??
I have a few in mind how about you????????????

I Am having the sleeve on December 10th. My breaking point was when I looked at a picture of myself and when I realized that I couldn't even fit my "fat" clothes. I work at the Cleveland clinic in Ohio in the bariatric research department and we are recruiting patients who are diabetic for a clinical trial. Bottom line is I don't have any comorbities such as diabetes, high bp or any of that but I realize it's only matter of time. I feel that you have to do what you have to. The idea is to live life and make the most out it. I am ready for a change I just fear the loose skin.

I agree if I want a nice glass of IL Conte Mascato D'Asti I do not want problems afterwards. I wanted to be limited on my intake, but still be able to enjoy small amounts of foods I enjoy. :*)

I'm a wine collector so this was actually a big deal for me. A friend had the bypass (she and her husband are also collectors) and she just cant drink anymore. She's about a year out on her surgery and while it's worked wonders, she misses the wine tasting experience. We are also big foodies and I wanted to be able to still eat out and taste everything I wanted. She is limited because if it's sweet or fat she ends up dumping. So no Desserts at all (she won't take a bite) and no pate, lamb, gad she's got a long list. I didn't want that for myself.

I have read that the sleeve has actually been around for a very very long time ... it was the first step of a bypass when the patient SLOWED/stopped loosing weight with the sleeve then they would complete the bypass. Earlier someone mentioned first getting the sleeve and then.the.bypass... that's why I mentioned that.

I decided on sleeve because I know people that have done the different procedures and their weight loss results etc. Sleeve seemed to be just as effective as bypass, but seemed safer. Since I have had it on Oct 17th I'm still on my clear liquid diet and completely content with it. I see commercials and my brain is like MMMM, but my belly is like whatever. I lost 10 lbs in the first 6 days. My friend lost 100 lbs in 4 months, another has lost and maintained 110 lb weight loss in 2 years that was her goal weight she hit it within 5 months and is maintaining problem free. My sister got bypass and lost 60 lbs in about 3 months and hasn't had any problems yet and another friend lost 150 lbs and has maintained it for 5 years and having 3 children 4, 1 1/2 and a 4 month old. Another friend had bypass and only lost 60 lbs in 7 months, but she complains about dumping all the time. So I just guess it depends on the results and side effects you are looking for. Good luck! :*)

Looks like research shows both work for type 2 diabetes, but bypass may give you an increased chance of better results.
Gastric bypass vs sleeve gastrectomy for type 2 diabetes mellitus: a randomized controlled trial.
    http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/21339423
    RESULTS:
Of the 60 patients enrolled, all completed the 12-month follow-up. Remission of T2DM was achieved by 28 (93%) in the gastric bypass group and 14 (47%) in the sleeve gastrectomy group (P = .02). Participants assigned to gastric bypass had lost more weight, achieved a lower waist circumference, and had lower glucose, HbA(1c), and blood lipid levels than the sleeve gastrectomy group. No serious complications occurred in either group.

Congrats Dacia for making the first step towards a new you. The 6 months will go fast. I'm going to call my dr. office in the am to schedule a date. I can't sleep I'm nervous and excited. Wish you the best. I found two other sites for bariatric surgery. A thinneryou and obesityhelpccom. The best is yet to come.

This really hit home with me but more so for those on this site who can't get insurance approval and can't manage a cash payment.
Once I made the decision, every time something happens that pushes the surgery date out further is such a blow. I just feel awful for those who have made the decision, but can't make it work. I "think" I'm headed for a January surgery date so I've been able to focus on changing my eating habits, stocking up on supplies for pre and post op and getting all my tests done. I don't know what I'd do if I heard there was going to be a major delay at this point. I just can't imagine how those that have either been waiting for months and years and still don't see approval in sight, manage to deal with it emotionally. It's all I can think about nearly every waking moment.

When I quit in 2008 I just avoided a few things that I did when I would smoke, like talking on the phone I would smoke more and being outside I smoked more. So I did those things less for about 6 months but I quit during winter so that helped. Good luck!
