I am from MA and we have Romney care. It did take a while for the computers to get going, 2 years. Because of Romney care, my husband is alive, I have wonderful health insurance, my MIL can afford her meds.
Everyone has to give it a try. Nothing is perfect for everyone.

I'm SO glad your daughter is alright. My oldest son is in his first semester of college, and it's so scary to have them far away, so I can imagine how terrifying this must have been. Good for you for staying on track, even in such a scary situation!

I used the same Jabba the Hutt reference the other day to my bff. I haven't had surgery yet but I am scared of the dreaded skin! I think you look awesome! No Jabba the Hut's skinny sister! Just Skinny!

Wow, I remember the stall! For a week or so I thought I was going to be the only human ever who could have most of her stomach removed and still not lose any weight. It was right at week 3 for me, and mine lasted about 2 weeks, and then my weight loss kicked back in and maintained at about 3 pounds a week for the first 3.5 months and now I'm at about 2 pounds a week. That's fine with me as long as it keeps coming off!
I remember how frustrating that was, and everyone said it would happen and that it would pass, and it really does! (I know that doesn't help much while it's going on, but it really is true.) Just follow what your doctor told you, and things will get moving again! Good luck! You won't believe how awesome the next few months will be!

Congratulations on starting your journey! I'm 8 weeks out today, and I can honestly say it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. I feel so much better already, and I still have a long way to go. It isn't always easy, but it's definitely worth it.

    Lydia,
I'm having lots of luck with greek yogurt for protein. I've been going over my 60 grams of protein daily, while staying below 1000 calories a day. I do one shake, and then go for tuna, shrimp, and greek yogurt for the main source of protein. And the scale is moving in the right direction again!

You're taking a great step! It's not an easy fix, but it will put the odds in your favor. I'm three weeks out from surgery, and I've had a really good experience so far! One of the coolest experiences I had was the morning I started my pre-op liquid diet. I texted my friend and said, "Think about it-- I'll never weight this much again." That was a cool thought.

The liquid diet is really the worst of it. The reason I say that is because after the surgery, you don't have the hunger. I also was freezing cold the entire time I was on liquids only, then bam, the surgery, and my body has had no problems regulating temp. It is strange going out to eat with family and friends and not feeling hunger, I enjoy the smells, and I do my part to 'eat' the people I'm with have more concern for my lack of eating than I do. I have even had a few waitresses ask if I didn't like my food and wanted it recooked or wanted to order something else. I do Mortgages, so business lunches and entertaining is a huge part of what I do, especially as the holidays are here. I went to a Holiday party right before my surgery, and gleefully filled up a plate in the buffet line just to seem 'normal' and then switched out my full plate for my husbands empty one as we ate, no one seemed to notice or mind much. I have told veery few people, and I am happy with my choice. Some people notice the weight loss already, and some don't. I think that the Holidays is a great time to go through this, that way in the New Year as people notice my weight loss more, or if people comment I'm not eating, I can always tell them I'm sticking to a strict New Years diet I wish both of you ladies luck, and don't feel sad about not eating, just having your family with you means more to them than you eating with them, I assure you. Congrats on making the decision to have WLS, and make a change for the rest of your life!

Thank you for sharring your experience. Today is day 1 liquid diet for me. I'm trying to stay positive too. It is all just beginning to seem real finally! It's weird seeing how much I focus on the food! I'm looking forward to seeing that change. Good luck to you!

When I was on my liquid diet I had to send my family out to eat because I couldn't be around food. I was very grouchy too! I am two months out and I promise that about a month- 6 weeks after surgery you will not be that senative around food, at least I was not~ No matter what anyone is having, preparing or offering me, I have a little and am satisfied. The pre-op and month after is the worst. After that your mom can TALK FOOD all she wants and you will enjoy it. In fact, I bake a lot more now, because I know I can have it in the house and control myself around it. You will be so glad you did this surgery. Just remind yourself this stage is not forever. Even though you will feel like it sometimes!!
