  1. Here is the case study regarding bougie size. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/18656834/
  2. You're awfully defensive and you're being a bit hypocritical. You are chastising myself and Laura for stating that bougie size has very little, if any, impact on long term weight loss (which I would think would be both informative and encouraging). There are case studies proving this. You did not chastise NtvTxn for opining that bougie size does impact weight loss success. But if it makes you feel better, my surgeon didn't use a bougie, he used a thimble. If I recall correctly from another thread Laura-ven's used a garden hose. And yes, I'm being facetious.
  3. I was wondering about that myself. All response are on point.
  4. That's his hang up and insecurities. Not yours. Don't let yourself be manipulated into assuming responsibilities for his issues.
  5. Barely a difference.
  6. I'm going to opine on this. WLS will not "fix" you. Your (I'm using "your" as a generalization, not specific to any one individual) hang ups with food are still there. You're not cured, you're being treated. Focusing on bougie size, of which there is very little size difference, rather than your weight loss journey in its entirety can be an indicator that you're expecting the surgery to do all the work. That the most minuscule sized bougie will make all the difference in your success. That ghrelin reduction wil cure your hunger... The fact of the matter is, we as individuals make all the difference in our success. Period. The surgery helps us, a LOT but it is not a the cure. It's a powerful treatment. Don't focus on bougie size or the ghrelin hormone being reduced. Focus on how you can use your Sleeve to the best of your advantage and have optimal results. The tiniest of tummies will not guarantee you success. We can still set ourselves up for failure by not working hard and making our own success.
  7. Mine were delivered yesterday. I'm looking forward to sampling them.
  8. Turn a negative into a positive by paying it forward, and send a message to Abercrombie and Fitch! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mobileweb/2013/05/14/abercrombie-and-fitch-homeless-brand-readjustment_n_3272498.html?ncid=txtlnkushpmg00000035&utm_hp_ref=fb&src=sp&comm_ref=false
  9. I am leaning towards Paradise Herbs. Anyone with feedback? http://paradiseherbs.com/products/orac-energy-greens/
  10. I was in Mexicali in March. It was in the 80's and 90's. I did my walking around the hospital outside. Just don't over do it. And follow your doc's orders.
  11. My all clear was 30 days, but recommended I avoid it. I bought a bottle of wine the night before last. I'm 8 weeks postop. I enjoyed it. No discomfort. I don't think it will be something I do often, tho. Drinking isn't high on my list of priorities, ya know? Best drinking advice we can give you is follow your medical professional's advice and make good choices.
  12. I'm 5'9. My highest weight was 405 lbs. surgery day weight was 387 lbs. Last weigh in weight on 5/3 was 342 lbs. I weigh every two weeks to avoid stressing out over every ounce. My bmi is almost in the 40's. I'm very pleased! Surgery day was 3/18.
  13. Sounds like there is a strong opinion by a few on how to handle your "excess weight".
  14. Which seems option seems to have the most benefits? Benefits such as, optimal fat/calorie burning. Feeling good and exercised vs. run down and blah. Optimal weight loss, long term. Drinking a Protein shake pre-workout or post workout?
  15. I made my own version of Dunkin Donuts' wrap this morning. Mine had 50 or 60 more calories but more than double the protein and about half the carbs. It was yummy!
  16. I've made homemade stir fry. It was tasty and healthy. No rice or noodles for me. Just chicken, veggies, and sauce. Sleeve Perry approved.
  17. Gotta love autocorrect! But for the record. If you take a laxative and are then having emissions you kinda owe it to the next potty-goer a warning to proceed with caution. Discretion be darned. :-D
  18. I was actually looking into trying their coffee drinks and was looking for sugar free flavors. I decided to peruse through their menu and came across a tasty, Protein high, reasonable carbs, and portion friendly Breakfast. It took me about an hour to finish it. And it was yum! I don't plan to make it a daily or even weekly event. But it's nice to know a decent breakfast on the fly isn't limited to a protein bar! Wake-Up Wrap:
