tigerbelle got a reaction from BeagleLover in Unbelievable charge for VSG to my insurance
that is ridiculous for surgery where you stayed just one day in the hospital...you are right that no wonder insurance premiums are so high...glad your surgery went well, though

I never would have thought one year ago I would be saying these words so soon! This year has been a challenge without a doubt. However, for the most part it has been the best time of my life! Still.learning daily what works for me.... This journey and new life style has brought more joy than would have her imagined. Yay for a new lease on life and for second chances!

tigerbelle got a reaction from k8ee in May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?
hi, K8ee...of course, I don't wish Hair loss on anyone, but at least the two of us know we aren't alone in this...your experience sounds almost just like mine...I hope both of us get at least some of our hair loss back!

Today it has been exactly four months and nine days since my Sleeve on June 5, 2013. I have lost 88 lbs., 12 Pants Sizes, 2 Shirt Sizes, 1 full Shoe Size and 14 pills! I am so very happy I made this decision. I am amazed at the transformation not just of my body but of the abilities I now have and the goals I have reached.
BS (Before Sleeve)
I was using a walker to do any walking at all. I could not shower without a shower chair, I could not go shopping in stores without automatic carts, I only left my house to go to the Dr. I could not stand up long enough to cook meals anymore, I had a full time caretaker, I could not clean or do laundry, I didn't drive unless I had too, I could not hold my Grandson because I had no lap, I would not have sexual relations with my husband because it was too un-comfortable and I felt to ugly, I didn't ever have the desire to go visit people, I could not go to parties or out with my friends to socialize at all. I stayed home and moped and honestly just waited for death to come and get me.
AS (After Sleeve)
I now go to the Mall with my daughter, I go out to lunch with friends, on dates with hubby, I shop, I cook, I clean, I even am working an area for a garden next year. I no longer need a caregiver and was just released from the program yesterday. I no long use a walker or automatic carts, or a shower chair! I only take 3 medications a day. I love to go visit and go to thrift stores and play with and hold my Grandson! I have sex on a semi-regular basis. (I know TMI)
The point is... If you are thinking of having this surgery, Stop Thinking!!!! & Start doing!!!
It took me over 2 1/2 years to get approval so get on it now and then do your thinking while you are in the process. You can always opt out later. I would never take it back, because honestly I never thought I would be a real person again and I had all but given up on life. I am however, a whole person again, a real person, with a real life, and real friends. I am even considering finally going back to work after six years of disability.
I hope this helps anyone in making up their minds and I hope it inspires everyone who reads it.
Blessings to all,
Candie

tigerbelle got a reaction from noamy4life in hair loss?
thanks for the feedback, y'all...I am at a little over 5 months, and about a month ago (so around 4 months), I started very noticeable hair loss...I have also been keeping up my Protein and Vitamin requirements and thought I had "escaped" the Hair loss risk...I was wrong apparently, so now I am just wondering how long this is going to last and if I will see any re-growth

tigerbelle got a reaction from Triple H in Why Can't I Eat Salad!
it's still iffy for me when I eat salad or raw veggies--especially lettuce...I try to minimize lettuce salads, even though I love salads, because it will sometimes go right through me, if you know what I mean

I was taking metformin twice daily and lantis insulin at night. I am now off the metformin and reducing the lantis. I am six weeks post sleeve.

May sleevers - Seems a big group of us were in another 3-week stall. Me too, but this morning I reached ONE-derland! Finally in the 100s instead of 200s! Praising God and thanking you for this community! 54 lbs to go for me. I am on the slow train but it is a train moving forward (or down)! Blessings to you in your journey!

I feel like I have been in the 170's forever lol... I am finally 169. I haven't been this small since high school. My blood pressure is no longer an issue and my resting heart rate is now in the 80's instead of the high 90's. I feel great and I can finally wear size 10-12. I feel like I am dreaming lol .... I have been at a stall for a while but I'm ok with that. .... For now lol. since surgery at 232 I have lost 63 pounds

tigerbelle got a reaction from Arts137 in Dumping Symdrome
as Arts said, I don't think it is "officially" dumping syndrome, but it is still unpleasant with many of the same symptoms...I get it on occasion when I eat a food that doesn't agree with my sleeve

tigerbelle reacted to bkz3 in 1 year post op - how much are you eating?
I just had my one year surgery anniversary yesterday, and had my one year post op check up today. I didn't quite hit the 100 lb lost mark that I wanted to, but I can NOT complain one bit! I've lost 97 pounds, and 12 inches off my waist, 11 inches off my hips, can't even believe it!!
Now unto my real question, I'm not really sure how much is a normal amount for most people to be eating at each meal at this point? I know everyone is going to be a little different. Has anyone had experienced old habits coming back? I've been stalled for the last few months I feel like, going up & down the same 3-4 lbs. and just can not break that 100 lbs mark! I know I need to give myself a swift kick in the rear to get back into working out more regularly again, and really need to get back to tracking what I'm eating. What motivates you to get back on track when/if you've gotten off track? Just really curious where others are at that are at 1 year (or more) post op!
